Really?

One good thing about the internet is that you can check the time a story comes out.

Nobody knew the first thing about Pavone, who had been here since Monday morning. Remarkable. Quite reassuring too.

The minute it comes out in the Mirror [11pm], suddenly the local paper puts a story out [11.20 pm, not happened often, has it?] and the Daily Mail [at 11.50pm] and Sun follow up too.

Watch it again tonight.

Fair enough, I don't doubt for a moment that a lot is taken from your posts, hell deadline days gone by with stroke boy proved that but I think Cryer has been pretty good this summer and would it not be believable that he has a similar deadline as you do and the reports are primed to go live after 11?

Sky are undoubedly the worst, story breaks here one day, 3 days later - Sky Sports understand.....

Nicko, today there are news that ROvers want to offload Andrews, Grella and Diouf.

Anyone interested in them?

Been trying to shunt them for some time. Prices too high. Minor interest in Andrews at the Forest end but Shteve McClaren is moaning about not having cash, so that may explain the hold-up.

Andrews is on around £20,000-a-week, Grella on quite a bit more and Diouf's salary is high too.

So don't blame Venkys for that lot...a collection of poor signings by a previous regime.

cryer is being quite complimentary to you mr nixon. says your good at what you do

No harm to the lad, I just get ###### at his paper always doing sniders about 'contrary to reports in the tabloids.' I thought that ended when the previous sports editor bugged off.

I'm expecting they will be sold for a price near to 0£. It's better than to have them in the team.

Sky are the barons of robbing tales like that. To be fair, their transfer ticker tape is pretty decent. Even if a lot of the stuff is a bit old. At least they break it down into 'confirmed', 'speculation' etc.

are we going to spend any the Jones transfer money or any of the owners 5 million pounds they put into the transfer kitty???

The most recent party line is that it will be.

We shall see.

Too many good players have been missed. Piatti was a disgrace, Witsel was very hard to take.

I don't think there is a cohesive team to spend the money - if it was all there.

I could go on, but it just winds me up.

Hard enough concentrating on what is happening in terms of comings and goings without going into what might be - or what should be - and trying to make sense of it.

thats cos he makes mr cryer's job easier! :angry2:

why are you getting angry

as long as we sign players in the area needed then may stay up. im also glad that we aren't going for anyone wanting massive wages. i prefer stability over a couple of years of semi decent football then a huge decline ala pompey

The thing that annoys me about sky is that they don't seem bothered if its not one of the top 6 teams, you turn the tv on everyday and its all man utd, city, chelsea n so on

Can I correct you there Scunny, they are interested in the others, just WHEN they have an opportunity to ridicule or belittle the other sides, then you get loads of coverage, especially when they are kicking your team in the ribs.

Nicko, is there any chance of Defoe coming to rovers or will he cost too much???

The one thing we need is a goalscorer next season if we are going to get into the top 10 this season.

You sold your best young player for a shedful of cash.

You badly need a striker - it almost cost the team relegation.

So every effort has to be made in that direction.

It is going to be hard to make it happen, but I do know they are trying.

One massive signing would take the heat off some of the other 'fringe' arrivals you seem to be working on.

I dunno. Maybe the Raos are very careful with their hard earned cash? Maybe they refuse to be ripped off by greedy clubs/agents/players? Maybe we will have to be content with more "value for money" players.

If it was my money, I would feel the same. We will never compete successfully for the top top players - we don't have the cash or the drawing power. A blend of experience (Salgado, Moran, Cole), affordable but flawed quality players (Bellamy, McCarthy), the hidden gems (Nelsen, Samba) and exciting youngsters is the way to go I reckon. I realise that this is no great change from the past but at least we now have some modest cash to fund it.

I think the big name fantasies on here are highly unlikely to happen. Leave the MB alone and wait for the Telegraph if you want a peaceful life.

I would spend big on one striker who is a goalscorer, then get a couple of players on low fee's and free transfers.

We need 4 or 5 new players this summer and NOT Benjani tho.

Thanks Nicko, at least they appear to be trying (And perhaps co ordinating) now, lets just hope they can pull something out the hat, what's your gut feel on what the overall jigsaw puzzle is, do you have any confidence they can hook a bigger fish, or is the competition just simply too good for us? Thanks.

I agree with you, but my problem would be that we have missed out on two very good players at two very affordable prices. Piatti and Witsel would have gone a long way towards solving the midfield problems that we had for much of last year, but instead we will have to identify two new targets and I am not sure if players of a similar age and quality will turn up.

And even if they do turn up they will most certainly cost considerably more than was asked for those two. :angry2:
