I want a top striker as much as the next guy but the fact is we can't afford a 15-20 league goals striker. Those cost 20 mill plus nowadays, look at bent, carroll etc. We have to be looking at guys who will cost at most 8-9 mill and take a slight gamble on them. Take Hernandez for example cost 7 mill exceeded all expectations and is now properly worth a good 30 mill in uniteds opinion. We have to be looking at those players who have the potential to get to that figure of 15-20, take a little risk in the hope it pays of and then sell them on for big bucks.

Cisse´s reported wage demands were much too much. Obviously we wouldn´t have gone for him anyway because of all costs. If Venky´s were ready to spend for the striker I would love to see Pavlyuchenko coming in. Spurs have never given him a real chance to prove himself. He is easily a double figure goalscorer.

Agreed. With the imminent signing of Mongongu, and no Samba deal in place, we are loaded in terms of defenders. We MUST be looking for quality midfielder's.

sticky situation right now regarding this, Onuoha will only be signed if samba leaves I've been told, Mongoongu is a replacement for Jones , also hope nicko can answer this but the guy I know at city as told me that where trying to get a player from city on a season long loan deal but its not santa cruz but he wont tell names right now does nicko know anything of this ?

I always ponder why people having an opinion leads to name calling.

If I were to call you a whipped dog, showing its ass to its master, would that be any more offensive because of my stance?

Say for example, you had a boss who promised you a wonderful new desk and computer, and some better workers to work under you. And even some of the best computers and servers that there are available just to raise the profile of the office.

Then they fire the manager and promote a very junior programmer. Then the CEO gets board and leaves.

You were happy and waited for a month, whilst a sale went on and all the good computers were bought and more of the better workers left. You then waited another month, and another, and another.

Nothing.

Then they sold one of your best computers to another office.

Nothing, nothing, nothing.

Then some more staff left and they still haven't replaced the CEO.

Another sale pops up and a hiring conference to boot. They look at all the best computers and say "Nah, too expensive." You remember that months ago in the company magazine they stated that they would go out and get some of the best computers.

Then they buy a 286 with a monitor the size of Malta.

Do you sit at your desk happy?

Hello i'm new to the forum and would like to say hi.

The lack of activity in the transfer market is very worrying. We just stayed up last year with a side that needed strengthening and we seem to be going backwards rather than forwards. I really do hope that Venkys put their money were their mouth is or else we'll be in the Championship next season.

Welcome to the forum.

I agree completley that our lack of transfer activity is worrying, but there is still time for the owners to bring in some decent names and get the fans more positive about the new season. It's not looking like that will happen with the names we are looking to bring in so far but all we can do is hope.

Im also new to the forum, had to sign up to vent!! so f*ckin frustrated, these clowns swan in, start linking us with big names then sign nobodys, free agents etc and then we miss out on promising young talent like Witsel over more cheapskate tactics! we got 16m for Phil and this kid would have cost half that money and does a similar job in the middle of the park and has an eye for goal...explain that to me?

dont be suprised if they let Samba go in late august and we have Nelson and Givet in the centre for the season, every striker in the league will be licking there lips!!
