But Allardyce was the manager and if they don't like him, it was their choice to sack him.

Even that doesn't stand up. "It was always our intention to sack Sam", was their comment. We all know why they sacked Sam, the evidence is currently before our eyes. No self respecting manager would still be at Ewood.

Every way you look, they drop ######.

IMO, our laughing stock status will continue to grow and it's difficult to be optimistic for the coming season.

I've seen a lot of comment about Blackburn Rovers and Venkys being a "laughing stock". We're always said to be a "laughing stock" by our own fans.

But what exactly has Venkys done to make us a laughing stock in front of everybody?

Okay, there was the Beckham and Ronaldhino fiasco back in January. That's over. Blackburn, despite all odds, negativity, naysayers, pundits and so-called experts' predictions and hopes, have survived relegation and stayed up. We drew against Arsenal and Manchester United, both of whom were expected to rout us 7-0 like they did when Allardyce was in charge. And all this speculation has come in now, but how does speculation make us a laughing stock?

Did Venkys actually come out and say "hey, fans, we're gonna get Cisse!" or "Piatti's definitely on our list!" With all due respect to Alan Nixon, that's what reported in The People and then recycled in newspapers everywhere. And now that it is apparent that they aren't our targets, we are suddenly laughing stocks? Jeez, just because there is no transfer activity now doesn't mean there will NEVER be transfer activity at all - we still have 2 months. It's too early to say "based on June and right NOW, we are definitely never going to get any transfers in, and our targets are all slipping away." Whose targets? Media-speculated targets or fan-wished targets?

Let's be fair to Venkys and stop calling them a laughing stock. Sure, both Alan Nixon and Kamy told us about the chaos and committee farcas that happened over the week. But was it reported in the news? All we have is their word for it, and even if it's true, how does that make us a laughing stock? Do other fans know about it? Do other fans even care about our backroom troubles? Are you sure other clubs aren't facing the same troubles we are? I heard Aston Villa, Arsenal and more than a few other club messageboards have fans being hysterical over their own lack of transfer activity too. So how does that make us a laughing stock?

The world doesn't revolve around us nor does the world revolve around Blackburn Rovers only. Just because there was a meltdown in Venkys meeting room doesn't mean the world is going to end. Just because we haven't secured any targets YET doesn't mean we aren't going to do so for the next 2 months.

Now calm down for now and hope for the best. Sure, if nothing happens in August, you can begin complaining and bashing the owners. But on 3rd July? Especially when it seems the meeting board has finally calmed down and they're finally going to make decisions over transfer for the next week?

If we do sign Witsel or somebody at last, I think some of us will be laughing at the whiners who keep insisting we will NEVER sign anybody at all and that our squad will remain relegation fodder. Give them time, don't believe everything the media says unless the guy actually puts pen to paper and sign on the dotted line. Otherwise don't think when a player is linked to us we are definitely considering getting him. It doesn't work that way - speculation is just that, speculation. Not the truth, not the facts. We shouldn't be bashing people out of speculation but out of what they do.

Speculating that we will never sign anyone, that our supposed targets will slip out of our grasp, that we will be having the same old relegation squad without any additions or strengthening aren't facts and they just add to the gloom and depression. I am aware that everyone is entited their opinion, but opinions come with responsibility. You don't just call Venkys CLOWNS or LAUGHING STOCK then say it's your opinion. You wouldn't like it if I make a similar opinion about you without any concrete basis now, would you? Treat Venkys as you would yourselves.

Well done Black Burn. Our own fans are the one's that make us a laughing stock. Just read the self defacing @#/? that some put on this thread

Reports in Italy say Juventus stepping up Aguero pursuit, while Grosso, Sissoko, Tiago, Melo, Toni, Iaquinta and Amauri will ALL be moved on, any of these juve players you would take ?

maybe Sissoko. is he the ex liverpool player?

toni, iaquinta and Amauri are past it. all would struggle with the pace and strenght on the PL. Italian football is slow and boring to watch.

I would go for a young striker like Rondon or Cisse. Both score goals and got pace.

Just had a look at the complete list of players we have been linked with. Its funny, the two players who are available and are proven premiership performers who are available, we haven't been linked with! I'm talking about Parker and Kranjcar.

And Bentley.

For those who seem to think we are all 'making up' names.

VUCINIC...was the manager's choice...contact with the agent was made...way too expensive all round...move on...no problem.

CISSE...agent spoke to officials working for the club...again way too expensive...that may come down...doubt it.

KEANE...discussed between Rovers and Spurs in an old-fashioned way...manager liked the idea...appears the owners do not [read quotes in Indian press]...expensive too.

PIATTI...part of a list that was compiled when prices and availability were checked...it seems this list has now been discarded...no idea why.

ANJUKOV...quoted in the bleedin Russian press...not dead yet...but expensive.

WITSEL...obvious link...but expensive.

WARNOCK...available...liked...not needed [in my view].

ONUOHA...story coming out of Man City...as of yesterday was still being hawked to other clubs.

WARNER...contract terms still not agreed.

Common links. Different people want different players. And money is a MAJOR issue.

Sorry, Alan Nixon. I in no way meant to imply that you are making up names.

What I meant is that you're feeding information, and as much as you're trustworthy, it's best to take any news from you with a pinch of salt. Hell, it could be your sources that are untrustworthy and lying to you - you admitted that a week ago that you were angry with someone who lied to you.

I hope you didn't take any offense at what I said. It's just that when you give a name, people seem to think we are automatically getting him, and if we aren't getting him he is either slipping away or the Venkys have messed up somehow although it is probably never that black and white.

As you said, all the different names are being thrown around by different people. They are not confirmed targets.

Nicko, If Kean and the owners wanted very good players then you have to pay big money for them.

We have got 30 million pounds to spend at the minute???

We need at least 2 strikers at least and we should spend at least 15 million on 2 strikers.

Then we need right back/centre back, Box to box midfielder like Wistel or JJ.

We also need to get rid of the deadwood like Grella, Goulan, Langinzi, maybe Andrews or Pedersen depending on who Kean wants.

Plus we got Formica who will be like a new signing this season hopefully and Lowe to be part of the rovers first team squad this season. was excellent against Cheslea and make Lampard out of the game totally.

We only need 4 or 5 players at the minute. If Samba goes then we need another centre back then.

Great post and fully agree, dont post on here much but read it often, some of the negativity by some posters is unbelievable and as stated above I think that is what makes us a laughing stock, they would still moan if we finished 5th next season and say "Kean and Venkys out, we should be in champions league", not the sort of people I'd like to spend any time with, they'd drain you of any optimism you may have. The glass is half full for god's sake IMO (get out clause)

nicko your saying money is a major issue, do you meen the wages and how much players are costing is way more than venkys expected

Fees, wages and agent's fees are proving very troublesome. I think the owners are finding that out.

Nothing is ever simple, straightforward or cheap in the transfer market.

So whatever sum of money you may have set aside can be very quickly wiped out...

Significant times ahead here.

According to the press, here is a list of players that Mourinho doesn't want in Real Madrid:

- Canales

- Pedro Leon

- Garay

- Lass Diarra

- Gago

- Drenthe

Only Lass wants to move to England, León wants to stay in the team, Canales wants to be loaned out to another spanish team, Garay has many teams interested in him (€10 million is supposedly enough to buy him), Drenthe is a trouble maker and Gago has to leave after saying that Barça is better than Real Madrid.

Of those players, I would just avoid Gago and Drenthe. All others would be great aditions to the team.

That is what no one ever seems to take into account - it is very difficult to land decent players especially your first (ideal) targets on the short list.

I can only tell you what is going on - I can't make the deals happen.

There was some excellent work being done a week or more ago.

Then it gets ripped up.

I am not the only one around here who knows that. And you don't have internal mole-hunts if your info is crap.

I am not entirely sure why it has gone strange. I have my suspicions. But I will keep them to myself until I know for sure.

The reason I thought some people were lying about targets is that some people just did not know what was going on in other parts of the club...quite bizarre.

The trouble is that TOO many names are coming in from TOO many different areas within the club.

It is ridiculous.

You have money to spend for the first time in years and have no great idea of how to spend it. Of course, the market is hard. But if you had experts in the field on your side you would have a better chance.

Yes, it is better than the indifference of the trustees in the previous two or three windows and signins second-raters.

But this window will be just as bad if people do not get their act together.

You have a chance to kick on here.

Maybe someone needs to remind Venkys about their promises of Champions League football....;)

No point getting into Champions League football if you end up in debt and going into adminstration. Remember Leeds?

Venkys may be billionaires, but they aren't in the same league as Abu Dubai and Abramovich. They can't afford to buy all the best players in the world, and the risk they may flop, like Andriy Shevchenko.

I can only tell you what is going on - I can't make the deals happen.

I'm not saying your info is crap, sorry. But the truth is, if there are too many names coming from too many different areas, it means that 90% of them will most likely never happen. The club can't just go out and buy a hundred different players in one window. But who's lying and who's telling the truth? And whose targets will be accepted and whose targets will be rejected?

That's why I think it's best to wait for the news where someone actually signs instead of believing all the different links to all the different players that might not even materialize.

But you've done a great job and I do look forward to your information - it's nice to know what's going on in the club. Let's hope the people will get their act together eventually.
