Give 'Em the Axe
I would actually flip over backwards involuntarily if Defoe were to sign. That would be my level of delight. I even caught myself day-dreaming about it today. Deary me. A reality check is needed from time to time, what? Pffft, I'd love if Rovers entered fantasy land, but it's not gonna happen, is it? With reagards to the N'Zogbia, banter...isn't he on the last year of his contract? Surely the fee wouldn't be as high as what's been mentioned? Can't lie, he looks like a top player and I'd drooooool if he signed. Oh, and if we let Mongungu slip away after his agent stating that Rovers is his top choice, then we truly are in the drink. BuckyRover
Portsmouth and Leeds were expensive gravy trains - if you sign for a club that's a mess financially because they're wildly overspending, then when they go down and bust after three years of paying you £80k a week, you'll move on for a song and the next sucker will come along to match those wages. Rovers is a very different kind of chaos. It's not different. It's exactly the same. We aren't special. We are a premiership club, hence we are attractive to many players who aren't in the premiership and to some that are. If you think there is a general mood against us then I would suggest you are paranoid. Man City had a chairman wanted for human rights abuses, never stopped them signing players. Why are we different? We aren't the first club to have a takeover that wasn't perfect and we we won't be the last
Steve Moss
To me the reality of the Sam sacking, Williams losing interest, hiring of Kean, casting off of Spit, all reminds me of a liquidation of people who speak their mind and have opinion. I have had the same thought. It's as if the Raos cannot tolerate dissent. Mrs. D telling JW to "toe the line", or something to that effect, was a shocking indication of this attitude, if I recall correctly. They are the lords, we are the peasants, and we should be grateful to be noticed and not whipped. It is not an attitude that will play well in North America and, I assume, in NW England. Why is it just fans who need to be appeased by throwing money away?... did 'Arry not teach us anything at Pompey? It is Venkys and Kean which raised expectations. I would have been very happy with 5 million a transfer window and a focus on youth development. But Venkys' mouths made promises that their checkbooks apparently can't cover. Hence, the disappointment and distrust. If our strike force was Roberts, Kalinic + 1 Top striker (15-20 goals a season) and one decent striker (10-15 goals a season) we would be a very good side. 4 strikers that can manage around 5 goals will not take us anywhere. Samba will score more than that. A strike force of Kalinic, Roberts, Blackman and one top striker (15-20) would transform the club. I doubt we'll see it. Number one striker and centremid is what we need. Better than we already have. Then sign freebies if can afford wages. Simple as that. One proven striker and midfielder, then sign younger players with potential for low prices. This shouldn't be difficult for the owners to understand. I think Venkys could do worse than to put Rover of Finland and Hekla on their committee. Seriously we are Doomed, Doomed, I say Doomed The good thing about being doomed is that we have plenty of room for improvement. what a load of tosh - gave up half way through as well. None of Reb's posts have been tosh. He has a solid picture of the club, I'd say. The only ones spouting "tosh" are those professing faith in Venkys, at this late date. Borders on delusional, in my opinion. dont be suprised if they let Samba go in late august and we have Nelson and Givet in the centre for the season, every striker in the league will be licking there lips!! I actually think Nelson and Givet would be a better than average CB pairing. And I'm sick of Samba's constant spouting off. Sorry to burst the bubble Black Burn but I do believe there is no money for signings and the Jones money has gone to pay off debts. No factual evidence am afraid. The J. Jones money being spent on debts would be a bit of a relief. Paying down debt is always in the long term interest of the club. To me, Venky's appear to have bottled it. They made big statements and drew up lists of good players who would have cost big money. Several of those players (Piatti/Witsel) were even open to coming here but as soon as it came to actually spending money, we did nothing and it appears that our budget has disappeared. This isn't about simply not having bought anyone, its that the transfer plan is broken. There is no cohesion. There is no strategy and no focus. Bingo. Backroom Tom Posted July 14, 2011 Backroom Share Posted July 14, 2011 The problem is people can't wait to be first to mention something so any mention of a rumour on twitter they are straight here with it no matter how obviously fake it is. Kelbo
So what about all the players who have signed for Leeds, Portsmouth, City and various other clubs and far more unstable moments. I don't buy the fact that many players will turn down a move to the club simply because of any ongoing 'turmoil'. Dont buy it Eddie, I have had this from a pro footballer, Rovers are not viewed at the moment as being a club to sign for, you have opinions and I respect those, but that is what I was told today, we may get the odd foreign player who is not up to speed with whats happening but decent British players will steer well clear. m0r94n
It is embarrassing because most of the stories on here usually have some kind of back ground research done on them before there posted. Anyone can post a rumor here is one i found on another rumor site (Blackburn Rovers are currently awaiting a response from 3 different clubs, regarding transfer enquiries. The 3 players that Blackburn have understandably enquired about are Arda Turan, from Galatasaray; Artem Milevskiy, from Dynamo Kiev; and Maksim Bardachov from BATE Borisov.) I highly doubt we have even considered any of them players but this is the way this site could be heading. I only know of two of those 3 (Turan, Milevskyi) and would be very happy with them here. More realistic rumours that some.

What kind of player did you talk to though? If it was a player at one of the top 5 clubs, it would be way different than one at the struggling ones. Depends on his ego, agenda, age and genreal personality. If you ask EH Diouf, I guess he would not tell you to sign for Rovers, but it looks like Benjani is pretty keen... m0r94n
to be honest with you... what you said is a load of crap. Yes clubs do miss out on players but its largely due to fees and player wages that are too high, or the player not wanting to come to the club... ALEX WITSEL = doesn't fall into any of the category. the fee was extremely cheap for someone of his quality, he wanted to come here, fair wages as well according to reports. no excuse. PAPISS CISSE = again. good fees, wanted to come here.. wages were high but what do you expect if you want someone of his qualities. PABLO PIATTI = same as witsel exactly. those 3 according to reports would have costed us 28m at tops... 20 from jones deal + 5-6mil from injected cash. wages could be afforded as they afforded RSC and JJ wages which were probably as high as it could get with cisse. those 3 players would have made us a top 10 team and it could have been done. no excuses there. In regards to all 3 of those players, I only heard agent talk there. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest you don't know these guys personally so how can we be 100% as to what they wanted? Agree with the wages, etc however just because we can afford it doesn't mean we should (though these were again, agent and journo figures). Again, when the Venkys took over and Sam left we were all saying that we wanted Rovers to stay as a well run club. Now people are crying because we're not getting outselves in to debt when buying new players. It's ridiculous. As for making us a top 10 team. Rubbish. What would happen if they didn't settle, didn't get along, didn't hit the ground running. This isn't Football Manager, it's never that easy. The money we would pay for them is a lot to waste. EwoodShark
Benjani is keen as no one else is in for him!! I've got this nagging feeling that, and because nobody else was in for him and the fact that he was SO desperate for a contract, that we have 'bought him off' by giving him his lifeline. No other logic in this contract, for me. Headline reads : "EWOOD CASTAWAY BLOWS COVER ON VENKY'S, KEAN AND WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON AT BLACKBURN ROVERS" Ha, I'd rather this then to actually think our 'manager' see's something in him worth enough to re-sign. If we can offload him at all it would be a bonus but he is being a tad unrealistic if he expects a PL side to come in and buy him. The guy never scores - what is the loss? Tim Southampton Rover
I think we'll be lucky to get £4.1m for him. He probably isn't worth more than £2m based on his performances in the Premier League. Apart from his performance in the WBA away game, he's been pretty average and only on few occasions has he shown why we paid £6m for him.
