If they are a (relatively) proven player, in relation to their ability/quality, it is likely they will cost a fair bit in wages - especially if they play in, or have played, in any of the top European league - that is the reality these days.

Plus if they are any good, other clubs will want them too meaning you will have to pay top whack.

They have only been in for a brief fitness test - pre season work will start properly in Austria this week

MGP has another week off yet but it appears they all meet tomorrow (4th July) as this was posted on his blog today.

"Now it’s only a week left of my holidays before I return to Blackburn and meets the rest of the team. Most of the other players returns tomorrow, but I’ve been on national team duty, and I have trained well this summer so I’ve got an extra week off, and that week I will enjoy with my family and friends. And I’m going to train hard so I’m in top shape before pre season starts. Yesterday I celebrated my grandmother’s 80th birthday, and it was really nice to be with all my family.
