Weird how she says transfers will be done in 2 weeks when they've done nothing for the last 3 weeks.

That article would also imply that they have some sort of direction at present. Unfortunately, from looking at the latest batch of linked players I'd question whether that direction was sideways or backwards.

Alan Nixon and Kamy said they had done a lot of work, and especially excellent work for the first 2 weeks before everything fell apart last week.

So it's weird how you came to that conclusion.

I read it as the list will be finalised in the next two weeks. Hope I read it wrong. I presume no updates from Nicko today - though with Rovers, probable nothing to update.

I can't get that link to work for some reason. Could someone maybe summarise it for me? Cheers.

No, but I can paste it....

"In Pune Blackburn Rovers are all set to give India the feel of Premier League football this month. Apart from playing an exhibition match against Federation Cup champions East Bengal at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, the team will conduct a short training camp for children from Goa, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune at Sports Complex, Balewadi on July 23.

This will be the team’s first visit to India after Venky’s took over last October. “The initial plan was to take the team to eight Indian cities but it didn’t work out due to the time constraint,” said Venky’s chairperson Anuradha Desai.

“The exhibition match was the last minute addition before the pre-season tour. It would make more sense if the team plays a friendly match apart from other promotional and training activities,” she added.

After surviving a relegation scare last season, the owners are optimistic about a better show this time. “We are in search of some good strikers and defenders and that will be finalised in the next two weeks.

We are not running behind big names. Our selection would be a proper mix of young talent and senior players.”

The Indian owners continue to show their faith in manager Steve Kean ever since he replaced the sacked Sam Allardyce in December last year. “Kean is definitely here to stay. He is capable, sincere and we are sure he will do the job well.

He has the knack of how to groom players and we are confident that he will take the team’s performance to another level.”

Which link? The Mumbaimirror one?

They talk about how Blackburn will have an exhibition match in India as well as training camps.

Then Venkys said, “We are in search of some good strikers and defenders and that will be finalised in the next two weeks. We are not running behind big names. Our selection would be a proper mix of young talent and senior players.”

I'm summarizing it because we are not allowed to paste articles and the moderators will delete it if I did that.

How exactly is that "weird"?

Jesus! you say one thing.

Weird because as far as we know as of last week, everything was in a right shambles.

Yes they did alot of good work, didn't follow it up, and created a circus. Now they will be starting again, and if they conduct themselves in the same way, nothing will happen in 2 weeks.

i cant seem to stay away from this thread, despite several attempts to not have a look. :P

You know there'll be nothing new of any import on it, yet you still keep looking just so you won't miss anything if it ever does eventually happen. :D

I would love to tell you something positive, but it's not possible at the moment.

Even now there are some big questions about how much money is actually available to spend.

You have gone from having an A List of good players to chasing round after frees and trialists in the space of a week.

At first I put that down to 'defining of roles' or, more accurately, WHO is deciding who to buy.

Now it is taking on a new tone...like HOW MUCH is available.

Something has gone badly wrong in the past week to ten days.

This is the transfer window. Things should move quickly - even if they are NOT producing results there should be positive action behind the scenes.

But with the level of confusion that exists over budgets never mind targets then there really is a problem...

Maybe we should all fall into pits of despair and wallow in it.

If you are right, things are certainly not looking good for us.

You've just confused me even more.

So basically, we had a list of targets, however this was thrown out the window and a lot of "bickering" between ALL parties involved?

Now we are uncertain on the budget, and targeting frees and handing out trials.

The list drawn up a few weeks ago, has that definitely been thrown out the window?

Do you expect the situation to change?

Also, there is an article in the MumbaiMirror, where Mrs D claims to complete the transfer business in 2 weeks. This was dated 1st July 2011, any truth in that, or was it just to ease the fears of fans?

Venky's have publicly stated we have money to spend. If they don't deliver they could lose alot of money if we get relegated. Also im sure if atleast the Phil Jones money isnt spent this summer then us fans will surely have to protest.

Why do I get the distinct impression that this was written in a very conservative manner?!!!!

Well suprise, suprise... Our non-rich owners (by EPL standards) suddenly realise they haven't got the £50m that nicko put his "neck on the line" saying we'd spend.

I await for your story on January 1st about how our "rich" owners are gonna spend £20m only for it to less than £5m by February 1st.

You said a few weeks ago that you couldn't give a crap about where the money's coming from. Maybe you should as it seems once again a few ambitious tales from their end have sucked you in again Mr Nixon. Just like the Ronaldinho line did in January.

Our owners aren't mega-rich, they aren't billionaires and they don't have tens of millions to throw at a single transfer window. So next time one of the Venky's sources (or whoever you use) sends you a story about signing a list of players that would equal 5 times the yearly profits of their main company, you might wanna take it with a pinch of salt.

Venky's PR (and I count deliberately giving nicko tid bits being part of it) seems to be promise them the world, give them a rock and the fans are going to eventually get annoyed with it.

Kamy needs to get on the blower to HQ and get an official line put out to tell fans what is happening

I couldn't agree more - my worry is this - that those in the 'committee' are going about all this with absolutely no idea they are doing anything wrong!
