Summer 2011 Transfer Window - Part 3.

Now i appreciate Nicko's posts as much as the next person and he is mostly on the money but you got that wrong there, he said something along the lines of "i'll stick my neck out here and say you will spend between 45-50m in this window"

He actually said between £45 and £50 million. As someone posted at the time when he said it he would be right if we spend over £45 he is very clever with his wording.

Nicko never said we would spend 50M.

He said in his opinion the players on the wanted list ( at the time it was list 'A') would cost 50M.

He did.

But anyway..

You know, I am not saddened, hurt, or depressed about this new news at all, in any way, shape, or form.

You know why?

Because I couldn't believe it would happen anyway.

There was a small part of me whispering, "Get excited Jack, its possible that your team could spend big," I shot this little voice down with prejudice.

People need to stay grounded here, and not get carried away with dreams of grandeur. We are a nice club, with a good manager, chairman, and a group of individuals that were set out with the specific purpose of keeping the club alive.... oh bugger.

Yes he did

The word prediction is the give away...

Now considering what Kamy/BPF/Nicko have said things have been changing rapidly in the background- I will make a prediction that over £20 million will be spent- I personally believe that Venkys are doing this to find out the mole in the background (daft I know), Mrs D has said our business will be concluded in 2 weeks let see shall we?

Somebody has a serious addiction to creating hysteria!

Wouldn't be a journalist would it?

Creating optimism rather than hysteria.

And after the crumbs of transfer window offerings we have had to feed on over the last few years - optimism is probably far more dangerous!

Rovers to spend 50 million - "Waaaahhh, they'll bankrupt us, can't afford wages etc etc"

Personally I didn't want them to spend such a ludicrous amount from the get go. If they did want to I would be very concerned and rightly so.

Rovers not to spend 50 million - "Waaaahhh, they lied to us, they are bankrupt etc etc"

I never once heard anyone from Venkeys saying that they would spend that much, nor the club, or Chatty Cathy for that matter.

So I am not saddened, somewhat relieved actually.

Spot on reb. Frankly, from now on, I'm going to take all links, speculation and rumours with a pinch of salt, regardless of how credible the source may be. A lot of people set themselves up for a fall by believing everything they heard. I'm not believing anything until I see them at Ewood or Brockhall posing for the camera.

Some of you need to have a word with yourselves, you’re like a bunch of teenage girls at a Justine Bieber concert - and the main act hasn’t arrived yet.

This isn’t football manager, its premiership football in the real world, things can change, sources can be wrong, mistakes can be made.

The information that Nicko provides is most welcome and correct at the time, but can be incorrect in a matter of hours.

This is a messageboard, take information with a pinch of salt until such a time as its signed sealed and delivered, for all we know Nicko could be a burnley fan having a laugh (Sorry nicko, just making the point).

Sit tight and wait and see, like most Rovers fans are doing incidently.

I've been in Cyprus for a week and have no idea what is going on or has happened.

It's been quite nice to get away and not hear about who we haven't signed, I think I might just wait to hear what depressing players we sign from the media in the future rather than build up any hopes.

jog on.. very good, athlete! although im not sure you meant to be funny! ;)

so, going back to your original post.. you think we shouldve blown all our cash and signed up our targets, by the 1st week in july.... ???

and because we havent you are angry ? :o

Got it in one..

Rovers to spend 50 million - "Waaaahhh, they'll bankrupt us, can't afford wages etc etc"

Rovers not to spend 50 million - "Waaaahhh, they lied to us, they are bankrupt etc etc"

That sums it up too..

PATHETIC post.. :wstu: "Everyone should grow a big moustache, burn effigies of the Rao family and generally riot".. not even funny.

your remarks are much more damaging than any of the rumours you speak of.

oh and nicko... sometimes its better to say nothing at all.. you know how most panic on here! :P

they dont need anymore encouragement! ;)

Fair enough, it was over the line. There are some who get carried away with the whole protest thing though (see below), and the moustache does seem more popular in the subcontinent than in this country.

In a population of 1.5 billion there are bound to be a bigger number of nutters, who subsequently attract the media's eye.

Finally, I did say IF Nicko is right, but then you are very keen on the Rao family so you probably missed that.

----------------------------------------------------------

Now that is dealt with, I'll get back on topic. I'll state that I just don't know who to believe about transfers, budgets etc. as we're getting so many conflicting stories. I will be pretty disappointed if we did end up with the sort of bollards we signed under the Trust.

I would love to tell you something positive, but it's not possible at the moment.

Even now there are some big questions about how much money is actually available to spend.

You have gone from having an A List of good players to chasing round after frees and trialists in the space of a week.

At first I put that down to 'defining of roles' or, more accurately, WHO is deciding who to buy.

Now it is taking on a new tone...like HOW MUCH is available.

Something has gone badly wrong in the past week to ten days.

This is the transfer window. Things should move quickly - even if they are NOT producing results there should be positive action behind the scenes.

But with the level of confusion that exists over budgets never mind targets then there really is a problem...

seems to me like your "sources" have either gone quiet on you or been taken out of the loop.

No problem with any of the above Gav.

Especially the points about Niko. But when his last few posts have not been about transfer gossip (which is his job) but about the in house confusion - which in turn is preventing any transfer gossip, I think it becomes a little worrying about what is happing behind the scenes.

And while we are at it - who’s Justine Bieber? dry.gif

Think it time that the owners and Kean come out to the fans and tell us what is going on at rovers.

we should be making bids for players we wanted.

I think we need a defender who can play anywhere at the back, Midfielder, 2 strikers and another centre back if Samba leaves.

It's time the owners, Kean and Huber decide who we want and start making bids for players becfore we miss out on good players and end up with ok players who won't improve our squad in terms of quantity.

I wouldn't be surprised if some duff info was being put out intentionally right now.

People seem to be thinking Venkys have come out publically and said we are after Piatti, Cisse and co when in reality it's all on the word of a journo (not a slure as Nicko has always been decent enough in the past). Instead of getting excited or depressed every time Nicko posts a snippet why not sit back a bit and wait to see what unfolds?

At the moment I'm getting a similar vibe to the summer we sold Bentley and didn't replace him after being linked with Riquelme etc but that could all change.

the transfer of onuoha will be completed in the next 48 hours, i've heard a fee has been agreed , city were just waiting on the completion of clichy , now that has been completed the transfer can go ahead, I've been told the fee is 4 mill rising to 6 mill on appearances and international caps

I hope this is a cunning plan to dampen the expectation levels that have have gone daft.

Or an attempt to stop other teams inflating transfer fees.

Keep calm and carry on, this window is not a disaster........yet!

Let's hope that's true, we could all do with a bit of cheering up right now.

Decent enough player, lots of pace and versatile- exactly the sort of player I would like to see at Rovers- hope it happens. You have put your neck well and truly on the line with "will be completed in the next 48 hours"! lol.

I have talked to a couple of people in the last hour, things continue to move forward, but the problem is that there is now a lack of clarity if the budget that currently exist is inclusive of wages, suggestion is that the budget is inclusive of wages which changes the picture as a decision needs to be taken on whether it blown on 2 relatively expensive players (each in £8 million range transfer fee wise) or do Rovers go for 3/4 cheaper alternatives which means smaller fees and rest used for wages.

The positive of this (if true) is that the owners are being responsible and only spending what can be afforded and therefore reducing the chances of a 'portsmouth' happening, but is equally confusing as to why they had a list of expensive players and Kean's talk of Rovers challenging for Champions League in next few seasons.
