the transfer of onuoha will be completed in the next 48 hours, i've heard a fee has been agreed , city were just waiting on the completion of clichy , now that has been completed the transfer can go ahead, I've been told the fee is 4 mill rising to 6 mill on appearances and international caps

I hope so Lee. Hope your info is good. Would be a good signing because he can play anywhwere in the back 4.

I have talked to a couple of people in the last hour, things continue to move forward, but the problem is that there is now a lack of clarity if the budget that currently exist is inclusive of wages, suggestion is that the budget is inclusive of wages which changes the picture as a decision needs to be taken on whether it blown on 2 relatively expensive players (each in £8 million range transfer fee wise) or do Rovers go for 3/4 cheaper alternatives which means smaller fees and rest used for wages.

The positive of this (if true) is that the owners are being responsible and only spending what can be afforded and therefore reducing the chances of a 'portsmouth' happening, but is equally confusing as to why they had a list of expensive players and Kean's talk of Rovers challenging for Champions League in next few seasons.

I think I know what's been going on. I'll post it when I'm home in a few hours.

Nothing ground breaking. Using common sense can pretty much work it out.

It revolves around:

Owners who know nothing about football = Silly and naive mistakes.

Quality over quantity everytime should be the way forward if Rovers are to prosper !

But it would be better to have only 2 quality A-list players or 3-4 B-list players who might be cheaper but still improve our squad?

Don't know about you, but I think the latter is preferable as it is both quality AND quantity.

Kamy's update is so much more encouraging than Alan Nixon's. I'm not having a jibe at Alan Nixon, but it's really remarkable what different wording of the same suituation can do for readers.

And if Lee is correct, we might actually have Onuha in the next 48 hours, which will most definitely lift the gloom and depression that is floating over the messageboard right now and perhaps even prove Alan Nixon's sources wrong.

But I won't be placing too much hope on it.

This makes me happy.

Hope Rovers get their act together now and all pull in the same direction.

That means ALL the fans too!

ill take Robbie Keane plus either one of Cisse, Osvaldo or Fabiano. add Onuhua and J Jones and Samba to stay, then ill be happy with that for now. Hoilett to sign an extension, and Formica and Rochina to progress.

Robbo

Salgado Samba Onuha Givet

Hoilett J Jones Nzonzi Olsson

Keane Cisse/Osvaldo Fabiano

Yes he did

However to land the players you are currently after - in quality and quantity - it is going to mean 45-50 million being spent.

and

To land the SIX or so you want will be in the £45 to £50 million bracket.

Two seperate posts, both posted the day after the one you quoted.

I don't read either of those as 'we will spend 50M'

so asset stripping and bankrupting us is funny ??

theyve saved us, we were dying a slow death. theyve financed kean last jan and im not worried about the lack of activity so far.

1 do rovers fans really expect our owners to conduct transfers in public!

2 its early on,,, in transfer window terms. things are only starting to heat up.

relax.. or if you cant relax.. wait a bit before almost combusting with rage.. just because things seem quiet!

Seems strange to me that we had the lists we did if thats all we have for a budget.

You would really think something fundimental like the budget (wages & fees) would of been the first thing to sort out.

Have we not already saved a fair amount in wages.. loosing Jones and Zurub should of been a fair ammount of the wage bill.

I think there will be SIX in at least and I will predict here and now that around £45 to £50 million will be spent.

Quite happy to stick my neck out on that after the vibes picked up over the past 48 hours.

Fair enough, it was over the line. There are some who get carried away with the whole protest thing though (see below), and the moustache does seem more popular in the subcontinent than in this country.

In a population of 1.5 billion there are bound to be a bigger number of nutters, who subsequently attract the media's eye.

Finally, I did say IF Nicko is right, but then you are very keen on the Rao family so you probably missed that.

----------------------------------------------------------

im fair on the rao family. also, there's been nothing worth reading in either of you last 2 posts! you must have sunstroke. keep digging.. im sure you'll get out of it!

Jesus Wept

I find it very hard to believe that something so basic could be overlooked. Kentaro are supposed to be experts in their field.

A bunch of players got new contracts during the latter half of the season. Not to mention the fact that our wage budget was unsustainably high to begin with, in comparison to our turnover.

I quite like that they're being careful and not risking the financial future of the club, yet at the same time disappointed that we apparently aren't going after some of these expensive players like Piatti (Whom I've probably only seen 2-3 full games of, but that plus highlights excited me). Football fans eh... a fickle and hard to please bunch.

Looks to me like whoever wrote up the list of players for Venky's to target.. kind of got confused thinking the 40-50M or whatever didn't include wages. Worse still, seems like Venky's are taking this seriously, they know we need 4 or 5 positions filling badly. However, someone else involved seems to think that 1 big name is all we need, to settle the fans and then everyone is happy.

Personally, I won't be happy unless I see both Jones being replaced, a new striker and a playmaker, possibly even another right back.. If Gamst is going, we are going to need to replace him to. Whether the replacements cost nothing, 4M, 6M or 13M, I couldn't care less. As long as we get the players we need and stay in budget, job done. One big name won't change this clubs direction, we will get relegated next season unless players are brought in.

Seems to me that we have missed out on a couple of bargain free/cheap transfers. So the person/people finding these players for us to go for, spent more time on big name expensive targets than just players who will improve the club. Excellent work

Once again, spot on.

In short...nobody knows what is available to spend.

Why compile class lists and discard them?

Something else has gone here in the past week-ten days...financial and a blow to the owners.
