After the problems Venky's are having I find it absolutely amazing that they are still PAYING for the advice they are recieving, all they had to do to make us a better club was NOTHING apart from invest a bit more every window.

This all must be very embarrassing for them.

Hughesy actually makes a very good point about players who have gone off the payroll.

So you COULD be able to take on a big earner or two - but it costs.

You have the advantage of having three or four home-grown players on low-ish salaries in your squad. That is also a plus.

I think what is annoying alot of people is that there was/is an excellent pool of reasonable/Bosman transfers this summer, most of which would strengthen the squad (Vaughan, Demba Ba, Reo Coker, Larsson etc). Yet the mantra was "we can do better than them", when clearly we can't afford to be missing out on such players.

Two of these players, a couple of players around the £8 - £10 mil range and a decent loan or two and most people would have snapped Venkys hands off 5 weeks ago.

Yep, what I always said from day one.

But no, JW HAD to go, they HAD to get new people in, Kentaro wasn't an issue as they have the contacts yada yada. Every stupid decision has been brushed under the carpet because of this mythical 'transfer warchest'.

What it needs is somebody to get a grip. Work out what you want to spend. Have faith in the person spending it. And get some people in who know how to find the players. And more to negotiate the right deals. Is the lack of a major sponsorship deal (they promised this a while ago) also hindering matters?

The lack of knowledge kicking around right at this moment is scary. Then surely they need to be asking Kentaro and Huber for a refund, as their consulting skills seem to be abosolutely worthless?

STAY POSITIVE, if we go into next season with a markedly weakened squad and no purchases of any note, we then all have a right to feel aggrieved and we can protest and chant anti-venkys things. At the moment, hardly any clubs have made major purchases, it's still early days.

As it is, Nicko said that the board were annoyed at leaks, who knows how much of what is going on now is down to that. Any transfer budget is bound to be a little fluid (and not a good thing to be in the public domain anyway)

do i come on here every day hoping to hear we've signed someone amazing? YES

will I turn into a negative nelly because we've not really signed anyone 5 or 6 weeks before the start of the season? NO, I support my club and always have an unfaltering belief that this will be our year, this will remain until we kick off on August 13 and maybe even after that I'll harbour the hope that Rochina and Formica will provide the creative spark to turn us into champions league candidates.

For me, it's what being a fan is all about, HOPE

What is annoying me more is that we had a management structure in place but we lost them for one reason or another, I was in Mallorca the last couple of weeks, lots of pro footballers there, some I spoke with others I didnt but the ones I did speak with were not very complimentary about Rovers at the moment and some of these lads were Championship players, now if those opinions are common, we are really going to have problems making decent signings!!

Do you think the club may be creating smokescreens to mislead the press and some internalfigures at the club, while they work on their "real " targets ? or trying to flush out moles by leaking bits of information, or are you totally convinced of the info that is being relayed by your contacts etc.

interesting times at Rovers, a new way of doing things, but really hope to strenghen the team as it badly needs it unless we want another relegation scrap on our hands.

That would require journos to be getting their info from inside the club. I don't think that's commonly the case.

Hughesy. All of those so called offers to the club have never ever been substantiated and you know it. The grella and Andrews bids were never made public by the club and are purely hearsay. Are you seriously suggesting that anyone at the club would have turned down an offer for grella!!!

Venkys motto, buy cheap, sell expensive...

I think they want profit :) They are a company..

So we will see alot of talent here, that will disappear...

I think they have high hopes of the developing of the youngsters, thats why they hired a good

academy coach!

We should see alot of Formica, Rochina and Hoilett. In Hoilett case they would like to tie him up on a new contract so that they can sell him expensive next year.

Hanley, Lowe and Morris will probably do cameo performerances..

I also think Kalinic will stay as he's young and can be sold expensive in a two years.....and you'll see alot of Blackman and Nzonzi too as young Martin Olsson.

Djibril Cisse - wants out at Panathanikos...30 next month and availble for 5million.

Jeremy Pied - Reminds me of Bentley early on. 2 million? Perhaps Eddie can shed some more info on his transfer status...

Dejan Loveren - Very much like Vedran Corluka of Spurs, liverpool like him at 7 million. Centre half and rb could he be the Jones replaement from Lyon?

Thats a striker, centre back and right&left winger sorted ... Anyone else agree?

In fairness £26m should be a decent crack with the quality we are going to get. Players like cisse are over priced at £13m and 75k per week, we are nowhere near that level. It needsto be a slow process with mid table being the first target. I would say we need to clear some out to open up wages and squad places.
