What happened to the 'marquee signing' and the money related to that? Or the fact they were willing to spend £80k a week on PJones (or whatever it was)?

Something must be going on...there is no way that a list of expensive players would be drawn up (who must have been expected to play for free if was the case), only for it to be discarded a week later.

Not saying everything is rosey...just don't quite believe anybody could be that naive.

I think Hardly has made a somewhat valid point. Most people are taking Kamy and Alan Nixon's words as the gospel and absolutely and utterly believing every word they say.

Now, I am in no way suggesting that they are leading us on or unreliable, and I mean no offense to the either of them, but I'm sure they have made mistakes in the past before. Alan Nixon's sticking his neck out that 45-50 million pounds being spent this window comes to mind. Sure, he might be right at the point of time and he was definitely telling the truth as he saw it, but the point is that even he is not infallible. Journalists do make mistakes sometimes.

And double standards much? You believe everything Kamy and Alan Nixon tell you, gobble their snippets of information like facts on a computer buffet, but when an article comes out saying how Ms Desai assuring us that the deals are expected to be done over the next 2 weeks you brand the writer, the spokesperson or Venkys a liar. I am not saying Alan Nixon and Kamy are liars, but I do wonder what's with this double standard of glorifying their every word as truth and putting on your anti-Venkys glasses and judging all other information as lies.

Of course I am not suggesting you take all those articles as facts or gospel either, but seriously? Why not treat all sources of information the same, whether it's from Alan Nixon, Kamy or the Mumbai Daily? With a pinch of salt. No disrespect to Kamy and Alan Nixon, and I apologize to them if they feel offended, but I'm pretty sure from an objective point of view it's only fair to treat their information the same as everything else - with a pinch of salt. I have no doubt they are trustworthy people but they are not Gods sitting up high on Heaven and having an omnipotent view over Venkys and the committee. They can only report stories as they see it, and being human what they see and hear are pretty limited especially if they aren't part of the staff.

So let's not fall into despair and begin flaming, slamming and blaming Venkys before the truth is out there. Other than Alan Nixon and Kamy, I'm not sure if I have seen any other sources indicating that there is trouble at Blackburn or Venkys. I am not saying Alan Nixon and Kamy are wrong and I do believe them to the same extent I believe every other published articles on the Daily Mail or Lancashire Telegraph, but the trouble begins when you start believing one source more than the others and if you had an agenda to begin with you would be selectively believing sources, especially those that are of anti-Venkys sentiment, and begin ignoring the rest.

Nice post indeed - i think this should be pinned to the top of the messgae board for this thread ! I think its clear that no-one has the full picture of what is going on, apart from probably the people in the know, the chuckle brothers and Mrs Desai :rover:

Apologies if this has already been broached.

But if, and hopefully when, Jnr. H signs a new contract – will the reported 40k a week come out of the transfer/salary budget?

If so - scrap the supposed 26mill total!

Not just Samba, we haven't got Junior's signature yet either.

It takes far far greater expertise than anyone at Rovers now has to shop effectively in the basement and end up with a Premier League quality squad. Add in the problem of lack of any decision making structure hampering the clinical incisive move before the market knows player X is available.

Looks like Balji has had his dreaming stopped.

Two weeks did she say?

You then have to manage them to perform to potential.

This is seriously scary.

The way I read the LT artice is that the search - compiling their list - for the players they want will be finalised in the next two weeks - not that they will be signed in the next two weeks.

Whilst some of the more ‘seasoned’ board members are used to reading incorrect information that’s posted on here, the miss information really is starting to stack up against Venkys now, it can’t all be bunkum.

I’ve been a staunch supporter of the new regime, they deserve a chance and all that, but even I’m getting twitchy with the apparent goings on down at Ewood.

I’m still looking for some decent signings, and hoping they’ll arrive, but if we start the season with a combination of either Roberts/Kalinic/Benjani/Diouf/RSC up front, I’ll be leading the Venkys out chants before the match starts against Wolves.

Patience, wait for right players at right price.

you have to ask the question, but how in the world are they only finalising their list now? The day we secured our PL safety, that was the day when Kean and Kentaro etc, should have started the process. After narrowly escaping relegation, holidays for the management team should have been a very short one, and the hard work should have started.

Its like the struggle of last season never happened, the way we are going about doing our business. Everything just seems so laid back, and seems like there is not a care in the world at the moment

Does TP mean Tony Parkes or Terry Pratchet?

Yes. A request. Would people please post names instead of initials. It's becoming like a crossword puzzle and I spend too much time solving it.

Fair play GAV.

However, if Venky's did sell, what the bloody hell would happen to the club? For better worse The Trust's 'safeguards' ensured we were not sold to a pryamid scheme con artist (Syed), but I doubt Venky's would care who they flogged us to.

For all those who think Venkys are going to sell the club, please that is a daft thing to say especially this early into their reign..

They will look rather stupid, as it will show them up as failures, which clearly they are not. The season hasn’t starterd yet, no money has been spent yet, we are still a PL team so there is no reason for them to sell the club. For all we know, there could be a few brilliant signings coming in, we could go on a brilliant run at the start, and sit comfortably in the top half of the table. Now im not holding my breath on quality signings, but you just never know what might happen.

Get a top sponsor on board as well, good start to the new season, then we could all be smiling. Right now, they need to sort whatever problems they are having, and try and get a more positive vibe going, which will keep the fans happy

The probelm is you guys spend to much time on the board in pre-season and talk so much about Blackburn that everyday turns into a week.

What I think you should do is go ahead and book that 3 week holiday to Turkey and come back at the start of August and pay close attention to the transfer market, thats when it will start getting busy.

To be predicting or down playing the new regime on the 5th of July is just pointless.

Okay, maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but I get the feeling a lot of people are moaning that we aren't going to buy anybody and will end up with the same relegation squad we had when we finished last season, minus both Jones and possibly Samba, and that we're gonna field the same old Benjani-Roberts-Santa Cruz line up as we did last season.

I think what's happening is not that Venkys will not spend their money at all. They probably will not buy Santa Cruz at all otherwise they won't be looking at other options. It's more of a confusion over how much the budget should be and that's why they are lost, wondering who to get - a hard thing when you don't know how much you have to spend.

But that in no way means Venkys decided to throw all the lists out altogether and decide not to buy any players at all, or that they decided to go back to the Trust mechanism, or are looking for new buyers and giving up on the club. They will buy some players eventually, but right now they are just lost. That in itself is worrying, but you don't have to worry that we will not get any players at all - we will. Just not now.

It appears some people are suggesting that we pay over the odds for wages, claiming that "if you want top players you must pay top wages" and then point to Steve Kean's promise of Champions League football in four seasons. Well, for one thing we aren't in the position to buy top players yet, and like Adebayor, no top players want to come and play relegation survival matches - they want to win trophies. Let's be realistic - sometimes money talks, but most of the time greed for trophies and glory overshadows greed for money.

What we can do, however, is buy B-list players to strengthen our C-list squad so that we can reach mid-table or at least get European football. Once we do that, we can then look for top A-list players next season. However, all this strengthening is going to take time and we might not get European football or A-list players in the next 2 or 3 years - which is why Kean said 4.

Venkys probably know that, which is why they have given up signing marque players, who like Vivunic and Adebayor, wouldn't want to come to our club anyway, and decided to focus on getting realistic players. However, the confusion now is that when they changed the target, the budget also changed - there is no need for 50 million if you're pursuing B-list players. You can make do with a lot less. However, the "a lot less" is not clearly defined and hence no one knows what the current budget is right now.

This is all merely speculation, of course. Don't take my word for it. Hell, I bet the moderators are gonna delete this useless hypothesis anyway.

Think back to the last four games of last season and imagine playing without the two Jones- scary thought!

Especially as we will probably add Samba to your list!

It is scary- first they have to get somebody who knows how to operate in the transfer market at this new lower level.

There are plenty of pointers now that the relationship with Kentaro/SEM is broken and in any case, those are not the partners ideally suited for rumaging in the bargain basement bin. Unless the answer is Myles Anderson.

I mean no offense, but all the posts I have seen from you seem to be based on the hope that Venkys and Rovers will fail.

And it's largely based on what Alan Nixon and Kamy said for the past week - before that you were basing your hopes that Venkys and Rovers will fail on thin air.

Are you on drugs or being paid by Venkeys?

You misunderstand me. I am not being pro-Venkys nor am I supporting Venkys. Read my post one more time very carefully.

I am merely speculating why there is confusion over the budget right now, as Kamy and Alan Nixon seem to be telling us.
