You must be American because you use the term " EPL" and spell with a "z" instead of an "s". In you're English you need to study harder at that university of yours.

Few people want "regime change" for the sake of it, just for the present regime to be more honest with supporters and show some degree (geddit?) of competence in the running of the club.

In the end it's results on the field that matter. A good start to next season and the criticism will abate; a poor start and it could get ugly.......

Oxford says to use the z.

Too much like Formica, thats why we let it go I believe.

Nothing like Formica...unless you mean they are both Argentinian.

Have read most of your posts and, IMO, you must have some connection to Venky's.

I would never employ someone like you - be brief and get to the point.

No. I actually have a friend who works for Venkys, but he's just a...supervisor or someone way, way down in the hierachy. Not exactly a reliable source for going-ons up there, if you get what I mean.

I apologize for being long-winded though. Good thing I'm still a college student and not out in the workforce yet. I still have a couple of years to work on that.

Actually I'm neither American nor British. I'm Asian. And my university allows me to use American spelling, which I got accustomed to because I read too many American-authored novels.

But I agree with you. It is up to Venkys to prove their own competence. If they can't, they are out, regardless of what I can say to defend them. If they can back it up, however, they will win the fans over. But regime changes are not so simple - while they can bring progress, sometimes it's a matter of taking one step back and getting locked in a cycle of "dictatorship".

It is scary- first they have to get somebody who knows how to operate in the transfer market at this new lower level.

There are plenty of pointers now that the relationship with Kentaro/SEM is broken and in any case, those are not the partners ideally suited for rumaging in the bargain basement bin. Unless the answer is Myles Anderson.

Just a question, not just for you but others also. Who would you appoint now if you were in venkys shoes. They are clearly in a pickle, what would you do to get out of it - apart from selling the club. John williams we know will not be coming back -

Rovers need a chairman,

maybe a

director of football

and in my opinion a

new manager

If venkys are to stay and the link is broke with Kentario etc, they need help. Ok if they read this messageboard, maybe we should / can help them in the right direction for the sake of the club.

Just seen on a rumor site which is totally unreliable that were after Dame N'doye, never heard of him but put his name in wiki and his goal record is amazing. Doubt there is anything init at all but wouldn,t cost alot and might be the price range were looking at now.

Kean thinks being Argentinan is enough to compare Formica to Batistuta

Maybe Kean has the same theory for all Argentinan's

We already have one future Batistuta we don't need another.

Yesterday's LT article by Andy Cryer is interesting not because of its enthralling content but because it is so bland and boring. It could have been written three weeks ago.

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/blackburnrovers/news/9120605.A_big_year_lies_ahead_for_Blackburn_Rovers/?ref=rss

Unlike on these boards, there is no hysteria and no suicidal gloom.

It really does look like the club are allowing very little to filter out to the press. Cryer's previous article where he resorted to listing even the most dubious of links reinforces my view. He doesn't really know much more than the rest of us.

The lack of information naturally leads to wild speculation and we have reports of funds available ranging from £50m down to £26m. I am not aware that the club has stated any figure and nor would I expect them to. The ridiculous fees and wages being demanded by clubs and agents should make any sane owner stand back and take stock. Rovers were prepared to overpay in the Jack Walker days but the scale of the rip-offs being demanded today is on a different scale completely.

I would much prefer that the club remains careful and clever with its money. Venkys are successful in what they do for their day job so I would expect them to be prudent in the transfer market.

Between £6-£8 million I would say. We had our chance to get Piatti and have now missed the opportunity.

Do you think there is any chance of rescuing this one or is it over?

Very disappointing if this is the case...

Hope your right - if so then great

At the moment they have SOME chance of getting it right. Lets not deny them that chance

If as reported Valencia are now in for him then no chance now.

kamy, doesnt it ALL depend on where he wants to play.. ? on the pod you suggested he WAS interested in rovers and did that mean he'd rather play in english football ?

What does Piatti offer us that, Olsson, Hoilett, glimpses of Rochina`s talents, and Formica don`t offer us, or would we just be adding to the pile ? Maybe it was felt we didn`t want him in the end, why criticise the club, just becuase it goes against who individual fans want to see signed, that is just daft (that`s not aimed at you Kamy BTW)

I would say that the new manager could be hired in a month if they had a Chairman and/or Director of Football, but getting a Chairman and/or a Director of Football is at least a three month job if you are going to get it right. And when does the transfer window close?

The problem Venky's have is they are now a deeply toxic brand in football.

Firing Alardyce could be explained away but is going to give any good serious managerial candidate pause for thought and will keep the contract lawyers busy on the small print. Add that unseemly sacking to losing Williams and Finn who are universally regarded as first equal in the Premier League means that the sort of candidate we need for the top jobs is precisely the sort of candidate who would not work for Venky's.

And that is only taking into account what is in the public domain as negative about Venky's and I haven't even started on Steve Kean if he were to be hanging around the place.

We know that head hunters have been engaged by Venky's to fill three senior posts and we have ended up with somebody willing to be titled "Deputy Chief Executive" but attends Premier League Chairmen's meetings- talk about a hospital pass- and a 27 year old.

Every way you look, this is a rolling car crash. This first eight months of Venky's bungling has completely scuppered them for the time being and it will take long hard costly toil for them to be regarded in world football with any respect or seriousness.

As nicko wrote, an A for finding Piatti (presumably Kentaro) and a Z for doing something (Venky's- my brackets)

Why do you expect them to be "prudent" ? According to the ebullient manager as his return from Pune the owners are willing to spend £40m plus this window.

In fairness, I thought Philip's post was pretty good, why do you use that 'im with stupid' smiley all the time, you flood the boards with posts all too regularly yourself.

Don't get too high and mighty :D

Not that I believed that in the first place, but Kean, whom I already rate as a first rate muppet worthy of Henson, should really learn how to keep his peni holster shut.

Kean at cards would be a sight to see, "Yaaaay I have three kings!! I raise 5 quid." Everyone folds.
