Darmond Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I hope it's a last minute bid of £8m for Piatti as a reaction to the Valencia news but somehow doubt it. It feels to me like it will be a name we've already heard if it's now moving quickly. Also if it's likely to get out, I'm guessing it's more likely to be a Premiership player? So I'll go pot-luck on Keane for £4.5m.

rebelmswar Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Logic would suggest one of the names already linked. Logic is something that we as a club defy at the moment. If we were to announce that we were signing Neville Southall and a Jaffa Cake as our new central defence duo, I would shrug and say "Meh, figures"
roverandout Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Imy, i hope your right and its all been a smokescreen to throw people of the scent though i wouldnt hold my breath. I think we are going through the bargain basement bins now rather than actually going into the store (harods)
AmazinTim Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 People well complain no matter who it is. I'll wait for the 11 oclocker.
Glosrover Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I'm guessing a left back. Maybe the ex reading and villa lad who's name has escaped me completely. That'll be Nicky Shorey then, no thanks..............

I think we are going through the bargain basement bins now rather than actually going into the store (harods) I was just pointing out that it must be the fastest transfer in history, if it took 24 hours to choose the player, scout him and then sign him! Either that or there has been some homework done on him and negotiations taken place. Which tells me that a piece is missing from the puzzle and the question should be why? To be fair if the owners have spent a "reasonable" amount that is still more than the Trust had done for about a year- patience is the key here.
rebelmswar Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I hope it is a well thought out, reasonable, fiscally sensible signing that fills a hole in our team. If it is I will be satisfied.
Gladiator Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I only hope that it's a signing that can silence a few of the doom and gloom merchants out there
donegalrover Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 F**k my Grannies boots Nicko they are gonna go into overdrive now.... great way to express yourself.......... brilliant

To be fair, this is one that was set up and put on hold while the 'budget' was discussed. There is/was another club interested. And the player became a priority once the first choice did not materialise.
Josh Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Venky's have tempted Zinedine Zidane out of retirement But no, really, I think it might be Witsel if nicko is saying they became a priority once the first choice didn't materialize (J. Jones)
Hughesy Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 There is/was another club interested. And the player became a priority once the first choice did not materialise. Witsel?? Would make me and others very happy
chaddyrovers Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Where do you find these names Chaddy? it is who Newcastle wanted to replace Andy Carroll. He is suppose to be a very good striker according to some Newcastle fans I've been talking to today.
donnermeat Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Venky's have tempted Zinedine Zidane out of retirement Why do that when we could tempt Tim Sherwood out of retirement?

EWOODACE1 Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Why do that when we could tempt Tim Sherwood out of retirement? it was lars not sherwood who we said could be our cantona when we decided against zz

Any price at all would be 'more than we hoped' as we were hoping to get Miranda for free.
brian_gallagher85 Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Come on as a fellow Irish man at least spell his name right It won't be a striker given what has already been said about spending for that position. I'm guessing a right back.
donnermeat Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 it was lars not sherwood who we said could be our cantona when we decided against zz Ahh I always thought it was cos Jack (apparently) said "why do we need ZZ when we have Tim Sherwood?"

Will be interesting to see the reaction of the 'name' once it is outed!
