As ever Alan, good and accurate stuff.

Any truth in the rumour that I have heard that Kean/Anderson are not entirely happy about his/their suggestions being knocked back? Have heard that this is just one of the reason why there has been this delay. Possibly even leading to Kean considering his future?

SEM and Kentaro having problems then? This is all highly confusing...

So the lists of last week, possibly as many as THREE, were something of a waste of time.

Yikes. Me, I'm a list person. I've even madde lists of lists I've made to keep track of things.

but this seems excessive to me, unless it was early early doors in the planning process. And since 3 were useless, that means there's at elast 4 out there, since someone's list has to govern, or else they've scrapped them all and nothing is done (which thankfully appears not to be the case entirely).

You would never get anybody to confirm that difference of opinion about targets.

But...

On the manager issue, I don't think he will quit.

I hope this is true. We will help Kean consider his future.

Mr Kean, stuff all this all this football stuff, go stuff a chicken instead.

Good to hear that Kean wants to put his own stamp on the team and wouldn't be happy to just become a yes man. Its about time he gets taken seriously as a premier league manager and not just Venky's puppet. There are people who have tried to manage in the premier league and done worse than him like Shearer, Zola, Sammy lee and are very own Ince.

Do you think he will be pushed out?

Just come back from Mallorca and spoke regularly to a friend and ex Scottish pro and there were lots of giggles and sniggers when Rovers signed Anderson, I asked if he really was that bad and he said, 'you will see for yourself!

If that sort of stuff's travelling to the Balearics then he must be bad.

Do you think he will be pushed out?

By who? The owners who have consistently backed him?

This might get me a week off but.... Instead of threatening folks with a week ban why not just restrict people to "X" amount of posts daily, there are a few I see here that seem to just post and post a LOT but say little. Unlike me I post little and say even less.

Anyone rejoicing in the rumour that Kean might want to leave because his input has been knocked back needs their head checking.

If Kean wont put up with it, do you think any reputable manager would?

Nah, their hatred for Kean is getting in the way of their common sense.

Admittedly, I'm no fan of Kean but I will support him as long as he remains manager of the club.

I am surprised to see that my friend was right though. Alan Nixon said the chaos is clearing up and roles are being defined, and my friend said almost the exact same thing yesterday. Well, let's hope he's right about the other stuff regarding the transfers, contracts and deals being done next week too.

Trueso. I have been thinking about this and I guess what is happening at board level is the execs are sitting round asking the question – “what is going to give us a return on essentially was is a marketing venture?” And the feeling must be that big names do the job in terms of making an impact than building a good team from small profile players. That’s a false economy though because if we blow our budget on Ronaldinhos or whatever, they flop and Rovers fail then Venkys will only get known as a badly managed mickey mouse outfit.

What we could have is a bunch of people who had a model when they came in which is not going to work in terms of building a successful football team. What I worry about is that once this sinks in the desire to pump in the big funds bandied about will evaporate as they just won’t get the marketing return that justifies the expenditure.

I think the situation has calmed down a bit and people's positions have become more clear - with roles more defined after a crazy few days.

It is becoming obvious that the agents advising the owners - that is Kentaro more than SEM - will have a huge say on recruitment.

So the lists of last week, possibly as many as THREE, were something of a waste of time.

Where that leaves the 'live' targets is what is keeping me occupied just now.

There HAS to be a decision on Miranda shortly.

Moves for Vucinic [the manager's choice], Cisse [somebody else's] and Keane [the manager again] are nowhere near done. Mind you, they have not joined anybody else either.

Piatti still has not had the call. But he has still not had the call from anyone.

Witsel is there to be done and seems to have the agreement of the committee.

So Philipee Huber is the main man advising the owners and Kean then?

I guess that Papiss Cisse was Huber choice for the striker target? I would rather have Cisse over Vucinic personally as I think Cisse would fit more into Kean's style of play and has gone pace which we lack upfront imo!

Nicko, is the Jermaine Jones deal to rovers close?

They had three lists? One by Kentaro, one by our scouts and one by Kean? Does Kean have any say at all?

there should not be 3 lists by three different people.

There should just be one list compile by Kean, Glover(rovers chief scout) and Huber. With a list of 4 players we wanted for each position we need to fill and rank by Kean prefer.

Hopefully we can see a couple of players coming in over the next week or so.

It is all slightly mad, pretty new and a bit of a drag.

If you get some good players nobody will care. If you don't I would suggest there will be big trouble ahead.

Thanks for the update, makes for depressing reading. So if the lists were a waste of time, does that mean we scratch off all the targets so far? And that explains why there was a lot of annoyed agents/players too?

I'm amazed that Witsel hasn't been signed yet, perhaps more amazed that there hasn't been a bid for Piatti.

Have we definitely signed Myles Anderson? If so that's absolutely crazy.

ffs Chaddy, do you think its that simple at Rovers? its a mess, and ill bet that its not going to get better. 3 lists by 3 different guys, that is a recipe for disaster. Kean is the man in charge, he should draw up the list, have it approved and then start negotiating. there should be no way, that Huber or JA should be telling Kean who he should be buying, unless Kean himself is happy with those players. utter nonsense at the moment, and this is because we need advisors to hold Kean and Venkys hands.

umm, question for all those slating the multi lists... If Kean is the one to draw up the lists of the players who tick all the check boxes, then why hire scouts? Does anyone really think that someone like Kean can do all the match prep, training, player management, etc, and then immediately after the season know everything there is to know about every avilable player in the world of football and who is best suited both to the teams needs and financials? Really? Kean is supposed to do all that?

Shouldn't the process more logically go along the lines of:

- Kean outlines the team needs

- Scouts (and Kean possibly, and now for Rovers, Kentaro and SEM) create lists of players that tick those boxes

- Kean reviews/prioritises lists for suitability of team needs

- Backroom staff review list for preliminary financial and other similar issues (ie can we sign, can we afford to sign, can we pay the wage?)

- Team gets on board and consolidates around the actual target list.

- Chase and hopefully acquire targets.

What this all feels like to me is that the process of getting from the multiple scout lists to the actual target list is just getting ugly because you have so many agent/scout type folks around, and a backroom staff who just aren't yet up to speed on the logisics of making it happen,a nd perhaps even the Venky's folks seeing the world differently with the "big name" splash.

Granted, Steps 1 thru 3 at least all should have been done months ago, and 4 is an ongoing process I'm sure, but it feels like the multi lists came out from stage 2 because the unorthodox organization Rovers have at the moment means there's some in-fighting over consolidating the lists.
