Eddie does have a knowledge of French football but he didn't think N'zonzi would make it in the Prem so just take any opinion with a pinch of salt.

Don't think anyone can really judge how a player can do in a completely different league, some adapt well and some don't.

Never heard of him - he's rubbish! Effing Venky's/Kean etc etc

Still, signing anyone who isn't a freebie or loan kinda kills the last 27 pages of "insider" fuelled revelations

We hadnt heard o Samba when hughes signed him and he was playing in the reserves for Herth Berlin!!!! so your comment is rubbish!!!

20 million, thats crazy

Not really. Consider that PJones went for the same and that's cheap. When we were quoted as spending obscene amounts of money he was my first choice...and I would have been happy with the club spending that.

Anybody any idea of this "big story" that could break today, and would supposedly divide peoples opinions??

don't know what it is, but kamy says its been brewing for days on twitter but there's been some developments today, it ain't transfer related and it isn't about kean leaving so the only thing left is venkys selling up

This window will hang on the quality of attacking talent we bring in. Until we have a decent striker and creative midfielder, I'm not getting excited. Those should be the priority right now.

Personaly reckon a defensive midfielder and a striker are number 1 priorities.. atm our central midfield and strike force is woeful

£6.3m bid in for Onouha - see his thread..... :brfc:

Things seem to be starting to move at last!!

2 central defenders.... hmm Samba news?

True - but you could effectively say for £9m we will have 2 defenders signed up and thats defence complete for now.

Next up 2 strikers and a midfielder/ ideally 2 please.

Personally I would welcome the signing, yes we need strikers and midfielders too but I am assuming that is where some of the more difficult decisions will need to be made in terms of selection and fees. It is a positive sign that progress is being made on signings and we do need to shore up our defence both due to the departure of Jones and the lingering doubts over Samba's future at the club.

If the reports of the fee are also true I think it is also a positive sign that Venky's will make funds available for the right signings. If they are prepared to spend £6m plus on a defender I would anticipate there should be no problem in spending £10m plus on a striker.

I said last week that our first major signing would set the tone of our spending this summer & if Monongu is our first signing I will be very underwhelmed!!

Loosing out on Piatti is also a massive let down!!

Its very hard to stay optimistic!!!

I am not directing this at Bennisfromheaven, so please don't take offense. This is just my observation not just from this board but also from comments in the Mirror, Lancashire Telegraph, etc.

A few days ago, people were desperate for Rovers and Venkys to sign somebody - anybody at all to prove that they are putting their money where their mouth is. And most of them were condemning Venkys for lying about having 50/30 million, lying about bring "big-name" players, lying about signing players at all, swearing at them for scourging bargain bin players or loans. And there are those who slam Venkys for not moving fast enough and letting players like Piatti fall into the hands of other clubs because of their dillying.

And now we get some news (though like Alan Nixon said, it could very well fall apart any moment and not materialize) that we're signing Monongu, and if the other thread about Onuha is right, Onuha, and people are still disappointed that we're signing defenders, or "cheap" players like Monongu. This is despite the fact that some of them are complaining that other clubs might snatch our targets (West Brom also chasing Monongu) if we don't move fast enough.

I guess you are entitled your opinions and are rightly justified in being disappointed, but I am amazed at the extent to how some people just can't be pleased.
