Ok he has been playing in a championship team for the last ten years with bith espanyol B and Barca B. If he was good enough surely he would have made the step up by now?

It would have made sense for him to move to a non B team by now. But he has a decent scoring record and not many mugs play for the barca teams no matter what level. Remember when guardiola said he had a few players just as good as wilshire in the B team when he was in charge. Maybe he just got comfortable? Could speculate all day. It will be a story that has disappeared by tomorrow anyway as that what seems to happen most days at the moment

Cardoza, Osvaldo, Cisse etc etc are all players we have heard off, Nicko said 80% of us won`t have heard of this guy unless they are FM geeks.

Lets wait and see if Venky`s deliver and stop everyone being so f`ing impatient - some peopel are so gullible and hang on everything they read on here.........................I have been finding it amusing, but it is getting tiresome now, its transfer season folks, lots of speculation ! lots of bullshit, scaremongering, troublemaking, spin - it would be easy to sell ice to all the Eskimos on this board

If this foreign striker is somebody pretty much unheard of then maybe a bid for the Celtic target Knowledge Musona is on the cards?

An unproven young Zimbabwean striker from Kaizer Chiefs pretty much fits Nicko's description.

I think you may have nailed it, the Benjani line could have been a hint to him being Zimbabwean.

Would not mind it being N'Doye, pretty much unheard of by most I would guess, plays in Denmark and has a rather decent scoring record for the last two seasons.. prior to that his scoring ratio was not brilliant.

Although not sure if Nicko has any friends working for Suadi clubs.. he was supposed to be off there.

Partly as he was on my wish list (on the other thread).. hmmmm a link from IMScouting

Late bloomer I suppose but would still cost 4-5m.

Except for the quite expensive part.. 1.5m euros is not expensive for a footballer.. unless our budget is that small.

For Gods sake read my other post before you try to get smart. He has been in a B team for the last TEN YEARS! if he was any good he would have made the a step up. Both with Espanyol and Barca.

Good point but you have to be a top A grade player to get in that team. Nobody turns their nose up at Rochina and he came from there. I mean Bojan can't even get into the team

7 in 42 total, that's a goal every six games. Sam didn't play him regularly, Kean (who wanted to play a different style of football) didn't play him regularly.

I'm not sure where you're plucking that stat from. You're talking overall Prem appearances since he joined? Come off it. It's obvious to anybody that last season is far more important for a fair assessment of his current ability than the debut season of a young striker who came from an inferior league, probably had his confidence destroyed by not being used at all for ages then very sparingly, made at least half his 26 appearances from the bench, was playing in a hoofball system he isn't suited to, as the lone striker, and wasn't working under the same manager. It also conveniently ignores that he hit 5 in 7 cup appearances that season, I think all of which were against Premiership sides. You said you want to see the best in him but you seem to be looking for the worst, and the comment about him not playing regularly (even when in form) is the real reason he hasn't been as great as we'd hoped, IMO.

Anyway this isn't the Kalinic thread, and that's the last I intend to say on it here. If I remember rightly, Soriano has been kept around so long because the Barca hierarchy rate him, right? People aren't usually kept there until 25 just playing in the B team. So whilst some might view it as 10 years of underachievement, another view might be that it's ten years of being considered not too far away from the likes of Eto, Messi, Villa, etc. Not far enough away to be let go anyway. Apparently also has 8 goals in 4 Spain U-21 appearances, interestingly. We already took a punt on Rochina from their lower teams...but this guy is old enough that you wouldn't expect him to develop much more. An interesting one if the suspicion is true, but having never seen him play I can't say much more. Has anybody here seen him?

Edit- apologies, I see I misread some earlier posts and he's only been there since 2009.

Even when on the pitch, Kalinic spends more time on his arse than the club secretary. Whenever he is challenged, or understands he is not going to score, he "accidentally" falls down.

Agree with the guy that mentioned the Zimbawian though. Looked to make sense.

This whole MB is better than Eastenders for plot lines. There are another 50 odd days until the end of the transfer window and the rumours and nonsense will continue right up to the close of it. I will be more worried if we have not brought any fresh faces in within the next 3 weeks or so as will be near start of season.

Never heard of most of the names being speculated. Would happily see any sort of forward who can get into double figures for goals (even Robbie Keane) and a midfielder who can trap, pass forward to a team mate and make the odd tackle. Probably should address wish this to Jim'll Fix It....

That is cos he is always trying to do the right thing by getting the ball from his chest down to the feet (something he seems to do quite successfully) but with no partner he has nobody to play it to and nobody is within 20 yards of him. All the time with a strapping centre half up his ass. His game isn't suited to play on his own.

I bow to you, common sense will hopefully prevail

End of the day it's going to be some nobody worthless crap. Who's linked, then doesn't sign (some excuse will be given) and we will move onto another target tomorrow and the same sequence will be repeated on a daily basis.

We arent going to sign any exciting players (which I am used to) and we will end up with 4or5 average players of which everybody will question whether they actually improve the team and will come to the conclusion that is to give them a chance. We will then get to December and decide 1 of the 4/5 was a good buy and the rest are crap.

No, the first poster is right, he goes over far too easily looking for a foul when its blatant he has played for it, should have picked up some tips from Roberts by now.

He needs to stay on his feet, and use the ball and get stronger - we don`t have the depth to carry players in the first 11. I really want him to suceed as he has shown glimpses, but he needs to want it, and his body language when played doesn`t show to me, that he is hungry enough
