Summer 2011 Transfer Window - Part 3.

what was your motivation for re-newing last year, worse pre-season ever in terms of signings.

If we don't make some decent signing before the transfer window I'll refund you your season ticket myself, long way to go.

And we have shown interest in Monaco defender:

"Mongongu has been made available after Monaco’s relegation to Ligue 2"

I'm amazed they were relegated, thats a big shock it would be like Liverpool going down.

It's nothing like Liverpool going down. More like us or a Villa

Venky's had been hit and miss until the summer. Some people, myself included, gave them a chance. Other people set their stall out before we got to this stage and slated them for anything based on no evidence at all. I dont regret giving them an opportunity to prove themselves because they hadn't had the chance up until this window. However, regardless of what angle you look at it now, they seem to be losing the plot.

There could be another scenario------you were very slow to catch on!

Catch on to what?? What had come out to suggest this was inevitable? Suspicions? There were as many reasons to feel optimistic about Venky's as pessimistic. Those who were sceptical beforehand will undoubtedly now say that they foresaw this but that was only based on the fact that they disliked Kean as much as anything else. Quite frankly, Venky's hadn't really done much since they arrived.

My issue was that Venky's had never been given a chance to show whether they were up to the job especially when it came down to transfers and finances. It appears now that they're not.

I don't know, they have won the French league twice in the last 14 years, and Champions league final 2004, plus a load of cups.

More successful then Villa or Rovers.

Maybe somewhere in the middle I'll accept.

I wouldn't bother with that one magicalmortensleftpeg, its like trying to argue with a brick :D

Venkys are still very much in the game, lets see what happens over the next month or so.

Freiburg's Papiss Demba Cissé not interested in joining Dynamo Kyiv, although they have made the best offer yet, according to "Kicker".think he holding out for the premiership move

Perhaps he might want to lower his demands then before it's too late!

good attittude, I'm glad my Hitler quotation inspired you.

Rome was not built in a day. Looks like we are currently active with the Monaco lad, which is a start.

Been of this opinion since they took over, but they're trying my patience I must say.

The lad from Monaco will certainly show some intent chris.

Gumboots has posted a link (on the appropriate thread) to a French Football Website which says we've agreed a fee with Mongongu. It looks like it was posted by them about an hour ago. Well done fella.

Looks like the wheels are turning if we are making serious moves for Monongu and N'Doye. This would fit with a relatively modest budget (ie. just the Jones money). If we have gone for McCarthy it would change the game a bit as it would show we had more cash available.

What the deal with Witsel? To be honest if we got him and Cisse I would be extremely happy irrespective of who else came in.

Wouldn't be surprised if McCarthy is a one off. Much like when we were willing to overspend the budget on Adam Johnson a few years back to get a promising young player with good sell-on potential.

How's our Champions League quest looking at the moment?

If I could be bothered i'd look back 2 weeks and quote all the posts that were saying "come back in a couple weeks and see where we are then"

Has the press linked us to anyone this morning exc. JMc from Wigan?

I think Jon o'shea will be a shrewd signing for sunlun...btw

Not a world beater but solid and will stand out at the SOL.

Shrewd on his reported £80k a week wage at United???

No thanks - £4m for a 30 year old on MASSIVE wages who is average at best and makes his fair share of mistakes.

He is gash, as you point out, his wages will be way over the top.

I think he will be shown up massively at Sunderland as he wont be carried by a decent team.

Whoever thinks John O'Shea is a good signing, well to each your own! He'll get found out massively IMO. Wes Brown not as much, but he's got injuries to hide behind as well ;)

Wes Brown and John O...i'd put money on me scoring at least a brace against that defence.

the only free transfer I would be looking at is reo coker, if we cant jones , dont see why reo coker isn't being tracked, it would free up cash for other parts of the team that need looked at

Yep, on a free especially! Why/how we've not made moves for NRC and David Vaughan is beyond me!
