the only free transfer I would be looking at is reo coker, if we cant jones , dont see why reo coker isn't being tracked, it would free up cash for other parts of the team that need looked at

Hitzlesperger ? there were / are others i think we should've looked at like Owen , Carew , Vaughan , Obinna , Demba Ba , Larsson , Vieria all i think would have been decent signings for different reasons

Bit of a tangent this....

But it looks like Jack Cork is going to snub Burnley for Southampton...

for all the crap we have to put up with, at least we aren't dingles

Depends how much we have to spend - top strikers usually cost big money.

The aim is to unearth talent before they become a top striker and out of our price range.

Everybody has to start off somewhere.

BRFC is an ideal place for this. Don't include the top 5 clubs in the country - how many other teams have sold players for £20.5m / £17.5m / £17m / £15m.....etc.

Of course that model can work and has done for us in the past under decent management.

Still dependent on what our price range/budget is though - for example there could be loan deals to utilise (Sturridge last season is an example of a positve one), plus free transfer market this summer appears to have some OK options (not neccessarily for striker).

Kean is brilliant with the younger lads - if we unearth talent that needs guidance, he will get the best out of them.

He also operates as a manager / first team coach in training - it really helps the younger lads and the relationships he builds are impressive and this is shown in their form.

There is more to his appointment.

The model was to be based around a few senior players towards / in their last club stretch with talented younger players around them.

Oh no, you're not heaping praise on Kean are you? wait for it.......

Maybe a little but i would be summising on that.

I know it was nothing to do with being the cheap option as we could have easily not spent anything in the window and appointed a more expensive option.

The SEM / Kentaro links are not a problem at all - we are NOT in a partnering contract with them. It can work well as persuading players to join BRFC can be challenging; using the aforementioned links puts one foot in the door on some decent talent.

That's fine, they should just re-iterate that's their policy and keep it at that. I was 100% pro-Venky's and was really excited by their purchase of the club when they said exactly that at the very beginning. It then started spinning out of control in a media circus that was nothing more than an awful joke.

There's absolutely no problem with a sensible, visionary policy like that. They just need to execute it and shoot down any suggestions that we're planning to do otherwise.

EXCITING FUTURE???? f-off cryer you spineless venky's mouthpiece. When i heard that statement in the telerag i nearly spat my coffee out. There isnt going to be an exciting future just more mediocre footballers signed to go with the squad of mediocre footballers we already have. Im telling you, its going to be another relegation battle next season, mark my words. I will be there though with my season ticket, just dont expect to be jumping out of your seats with excitement next season.

Okay...I understand that Mongungu seems underwhelming, but remember that he is a Monaco player, and Monaco regularly plays for the Champions League. Not to mention Arsenal and Milan had expressed interest in him in the past. So he might not be as bad as many people are making him out to be. Mediocre? Only time will tell. But if he ends up like Samba, he might end up being a bargain at 2.6 million.

Also, everyone wants the deadwood shifted out so they are selling Andrews, Grella and Diouf on the pretext of raising cash. Killing two birds with one stone, if you will. Yippee. Maybe the reason why they aren't spending the 26 million or Jones cash now is because they want to get in some more money, hopefully to 36 million and then look again and reevaluate what players are available with the new budget. If they can't sell them, they'll settle for cheaper players, but if they succeed maybe they can get the more expensive players like Cisse.

This is just guessing, so don't take my word for it.

And a reply to 10 pages back...okay, someone was complaining that Venkys should come out and communicate with the fans and say something. I pointed out that they did say something to the fans, and a whole horde of people slammed me for believing what Venkys said, calling them liars, rubbish, nonsense and what not.

One: I never said they were stating facts, just responding to someone's complain that Venkys never communicated when they in fact did.

Two: You condemn everything Venkys say as lies and rubbish. You may be justified in doing so. But then you are gobbling all the negative rumors that are being spread here on the messageboard and worshipping them as gospel to further more anti-Venkys agenda. I won't stop you from doing so, but I don't think I'll agree with you either.

black burn, monaco havent competed at the top level for years, they have been sliding down and down gradually, mongongu, or whatever he is called, is just a cheap option because the lying, coniving, venkys cant afford any top players. Maybe this guy WILL be the next samba and i was all for it, if and i said if a few pages back they were saving their money for our real problem areas, midfield and attack but now it seems they are after more cheapo players in the shape of that fc copenhagen player. I cant see them spending any real money as they appear to me as though they dont have it. Which makes them liars in my book. All this talk of european football is pie in the sky and the best we can hope for next season is probably 15th or lower. Thats just how i feel right now because there is nothing positive with rovers to feel otherwise.

Seriously fella all this vitriol you constantly spew out is getting pretty tiresome.

You either need to take a prozac or get laid...either way, chill out a little before you have a coronary.

yeti-dog, i hate feeling negative, i want rovers to do well but there is nothing at the moment that can lighten my mood with rovers. Last week, i, as im sure you were, were excited about what nicko was telling us but now it seem they have decided to go the other way. If by next week rovers have spent some proper money then i will change my tune. At the moment as much as it pains me, i feel really down about the whole thing especially venkys.

I see. I thought they were still in a few years back, but I guess I must have been mistaken.

But about the top players, why not wait until the end of the window before judging them on that? They could easily bring I don't know...Fabiano or Cisse on the 28th July as they did with McCarthy and Santa Cruz. However, I could be wrong as they said in the Mirror that they are not running behind big names. So you could call them liars for that.

Well, it is true that they seem to be in a mess right now and not delivering their promises, but given that it's the 7th July, I think there's no need to press panic buttons and the Mongungu deal seems ready to be wrapped up over the weekend, so that's at least one signing done. Nobody can complain that we will never be signing anyone this window or that we will have the same squad come next season anymore. :D

Of course, feel free to complain if all the players we bring in turn out to be worthless.

I understand, but it's just a rumour at present hence the 'it seems'.

Take a breath, have a sit down and see what happens.

Just a bit of advice which you can obviously take or leave, but it just might calm down the emotional rollercoaster you seem to be on at the minute.

I see a lot of people upset that Mongongu and N'Doye could be coming to Rovers.

And, while I understand that they are not the superstar players we wanted, I feel we are being to harsh on them.

How many of you ever heard of Samba before he came to Rovers?

Or Benni McCarthy?

Or Nelsen?

Hope a lot of you forget your personal disapointment and are able to support any of those players, if they do sign for Rovers

How is this for a theory.

Nicko releases list of players and transfer kitty - all of a sudden agents fees, wage demands and transfer fees go through the roof. Mrs D get extremely annoyed at what she perceives as a mole in the organisation - and starts a campaign of mis-information to try to identify the mole and also try to reign in the wages and fees being demanded for players. Given the confusing information coming out of the club - the forums various sources start to give off differing and worrying messages.

In truth it was never wise for the club to give a clue as to their budget - though I am sure that Kean's boast we would have the biggest budget for some time was probably to stimulate ST sales.

Nicko used to make this site worth reading but I get the impression that his sources are not so well informed as they used to be. Maybe Venkys have learned to be more economical with the info that they are prepared to share. You wouldn't blame them for that either.

I think that Nicko is feeding off smaller scraps and thus his interpretations have been less reliable - he has thus had to re-interpret the scraps on a regular basis. To us readers this comes across as Venkys chopping and changing their budgets and targets. Maybe the budgets haven't changed - just the interpretation?

My interpretation is that Nicko and Kean were/are cozy, and that some of Nicko's information came from Kean. Kean, on the other hand, lacked complete information/control, and so things were wrong/changed, both to Kean's and Nicko's frustration. This may also be hurting Kean with Venkys, if they suspect he is a "mole" though more likely he is merely using the press to get his way, much as Sam and other managers have done.

I don't know whether any of the above is true, as it is only my opinion derived from reading news articles and posts.

Not seen any confirmation.

As each days goes by and our aspirations levels fall re targets, it gets less and less likely.

If he was your son, what advice would you be giving him ?!?!?!

To sign for the Rovers, but with a 15 million release clause.

good point overall but i would be very very surprised if less than 90% of rovers had heard of benni mccarthy
