by the way lee, looked at gyan's and n'doye goal scoring careers so far and i think you will find overall, gyan actually has a better goalscoring ratio than n'doye. N'doye flopped until he went to that wonderfull league called the danish superliga. And on top of that gyan international record is world class

yeh but see who he played against with ghana, lowely ranked african teams, you cant judge a player without giving him a chance, your putting down the player before he is given a chance, just cause he plays in the danish league, he still knows where the back of the net is

yes so did mama diouf in norway, would you pay 8.5 million for him? grabbi scored goals in seria b and we know how that turned out and seria b is probably better than the danish league. So would you take a chance on an unproven, yes unproven player who is already reaching midway point in his career rather than spend that money on a player who has scored goals at a higher level? ie defoe hell even a cheaper option robbie keane would fair better. If this guy was 21 and had time to develop then maybe i would take a punt on him at a much cheaper price. But its clear that at 25, he is already reching his full growth in terms of his development.

I think even the Venkys are realistic enough to know we aren't going for top four this season.

And top-class goalscorers like Vuvinuc and Adebayor are very reluctant to join us.

It's best not to expect Champions League players playing in Blackburn for at least the next 2 or 3 seasons, no matter what Venkys say, and no matter how much we have.

But Cisse is apparently willing as was Piatti. Face facts------Venkys either can't pay or won't pay.

Fair enough but why did they pretend otherwise? Open your eyes.

Just gone through it. Sounds far more positive. He (Belaji) says all of the Phil Jones money will be there to spend. I'm happier about the rest of the window having read this.

I agree with this, very pleased Belaji has came with some decent PR for once, and sort of reassured the fans. I sense that he reads on here regularly by such statement. I think we will spend about 25m on transfer fees, more if Samba and Kalinic leave, obviously. I would like to know what Nicko thinks about this statement, he has obviously heard something different.

Kalinic, I'm one of the few who thinks he's decent and worth keeping around. Can imagine how many he'd score playing for Copenhagen? 4m is good amount and we might take it but it doesnt buy you much of a replacement.

McGugen- I would love to bring him in, 4m is a good price as well.

NDoye- Nah? Cisse looks better even if slightly more expensive.

Happy with the mongungu guy, still young, cheap,

Anything new on Witsel, thought Kentaro would be all over it.

i rather take a chance on dj campbell than risk 8.5m on a player from an inferier league.....

i just want to say, i am not annoyed or have any more anamosity towards the venkys any more as i have finally accepted what we are, a bottom half of the table team that will probably finish around 13 or 14th or below every season. Im glad one of the rao brothers has come out and told us that we wont be pushing for 'fantasy players' anymore. Now i can sit back and know what to expect next season, mediocratey.. Thats fine by me but they should have come out and said that from the beginning.

As i've said before on here... If Jones money + 5 million Venky's money is invested by the end of the window then we can consider ourselves better off and a little lucky.

Heard we have bid £4m for Lewis McGugan from forest. Not seen him but a youngish English attacking midfielder.

I've mentioned him on here before as have others. Excellent buy but we wouldn't get him for that amount.

Only worry----he's very similar to Hoilett!

So Dnipro are willing to pay £4m for Kalinic, but it seems we want a PROFIT for him?? If we can get one, then fair play as he clearly isnt going to get much of a chance here in the future.

N'Doye or whatever his name is can stay their for £8.5m & £50k wages....sorry but the standard of league makes him very much unproven still.

Would rather look towards the Bundesliga as that is quickly improving in quality and their are some very handy players out there.

I hope this clears a few things up and puts a few fans at rest!!!

Please read and take note.

"I am not into any name game. I want to concentrate on the proper game and get ahead. We are buying one or two strikers and a few midfielders," Rao said in a telephone interview.

"We have to pump in money if we have to buy players. But I can't disclose the amount. The money that came out from Phil Jones' transfer is also there for the club and will be used in the transfers."

Rao added that the owners planned a long-term involvement with the club from the Lancashire mill town.

"This is a life-time association. My son is also very interested with it and will take over soon when he grows up," he said. "He is 17 and will be on the board when he becomes 21" (for all those who read this earlier bad cut and paste job its 21 not 17!!!-apologies for the error)

"Within one-and-a-half years we are coming up with an academy and a stadium in Pune. It will be known as Blackburn Academy Pune."

Article appears in Four Four Two

It clears things up without necessarily putting my mind at rest!

bluefred i agree, i would rather take a 1.5 million punt on dj campbell, who scored goals for blackpool last season than pay 8.5 million for n'doye who has had 2 good season at the best team in denmark, which lets be fair is league 2 standard.

mike newell scored 3 goals in the champions league, would you have payed £8.5 million for him?

Different monetary values today. But don't underestimate what a terrific player Newell was.

Doesn't he still hold the record for the fastest hat-trick in the CL of all time. Messi nearly beat him a year ago against Arsenal but of course the Argentinian couldn't beat Mike, that would just be silly.

Yes we would!

I think many fans would give their right arm for a forward as good as Newell right now.

He was a class act and and a wonderful partner for Shearer who stated that he was his favored strike partner. Work rate alone has him miles above many in my eyes.

When did they say we'd be signing star players? The one time this was said and considered was when one of the brothers wanted to spend his personal fortune on bringing Ronaldinho in, but in terms of their vision/plan for the club they have never said we will be spending millions of dollars on high quality players.
