steverovers Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 He was a class act and and a wonderful partner for Shearer who stated that he was his favored strike partner. Work rate alone has him miles above many in my eyes. Agreed! What I wouldn't give for a player of his class right now....

Steve Moss Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Can maybe see Rochina and Blackman getting a shout this coming season too I think we will. And I think they'll be up for it.
Steve Moss Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 McGugen- I would love to bring him in, 4m is a good price as well. Newcastle have bid 1.5 million for McGugen. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Newcastle-bid-1-5million-for-Lewis-McGugan-highly-rated-Nottingham-Forest-midfielder-article762154.html Surely they'd be reporting an alleged 4 million bid before a 1.5 million bid?
Iceman Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 i might get a few minuses for this, but I would rather take either RSC or Robbie Keane, over Ndoye. silly money they are asking for, and I'm afraid Kean might just be tempted out of desperation
Tardyrover Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Cannot believe you're Falling out about Mike Newell!!!! Get a grip!
Black Burn Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 But Cisse is apparently willing as was Piatti. Face facts------Venkys either can't pay or won't pay. Fair enough but why did they pretend otherwise? Open your eyes. Cisse and Piatti were Champions League players? I didn't know that. If I recall Cisse was playing for Freiburg, who finished in midtable, and Piatti was playing for Almeria who didn't make it to the top four in the La Liga. I don't mean to be rude, but before you tell me to open my eyes, please read my post more carefully. Perhaps they are top-class players, I'll admit that, but I was talking about players who played in the Champions League like Vuvinic and Adebayor. Additionally, Cisse is unproven in the English Premiership League, so I doubt we would want to risk 75K a week wages on him. You may disagree, but that doesn't make me more blind than you are.
Speedie Dived Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 He had a goalscoring record of about 1 in 4, no way would we want him now What???? Did you see Newell play for the Rovers?
Ricky Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 How can we be trying to make a profit on niko?? If a club really is offering us £4m we should snap their hands off!!
BangkokRover Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 He had a goalscoring record of about 1 in 4, no way would we want him now Another candidate for the most stupid post of the year. I am sure you would say that Alan Smith was also not worth signing, of course his partnership with Ian Wright, made them Arsenal lethal up front.
Mattyblue Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 From his debut against Barnsley when he dummied both the keeper and defender and lashed it in at the old Blackburn End, to his penalty at Wembley to his Champions League hat trick. NONE of our strikers are fit to lace Newell's boots.
wandel77 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 at 8.5 million pounds is way TOO much to buy him for that. Long and Erdinc would only cost 7 million to 8 million pounds and are younger and play in a better leagues. I reckon the Championship is a better standard than the Danish League. (no offence to any people from Denmark) why have we not made a bid for Reo-Coker yet. would be the ideal replacement for JJ and wouldn't cost a transfer fee. The top 2 clubs are better clubs than championship clubs. FC Copenhagen did not have the best group in the CL last season and got throgh to the next round, and i think they did well against Chelsea. But he is a good player N´doye but i don´t think he can make it in the PL.

Mattyblue Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Venky’s director reveals Blackburn Rovers are to spend cautiously this summer The more things change...
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 The more things change... I think if you read the article - they are spending the Phil Jones money plus additional money. The only change isn't that they aren't chasing big name signings anymore. Perhaps a realisation that Rovers in their current position can't attract big name players without huge wages (which we can't afford).
Andy Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 In fairness, there's never been any evidence to suggest that we'd have more than £5m per window as well as any money from player sales. One tabloid pulled the £50m figure out of the air but in reality there was never any chance we were going to spend that much. Still, if we spend the best part of £20m well, we should be able to strengthen sufficiently.
davulsukur Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 interesting that article says about his son moving onto the board in a few years. Does that go someway into denying the for sale rumour? Also says that money is available as well as the jones money. I reckon we will be looking at around £20million. Which to be fair to the owners is a decent amount of money.
True Blue & White Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 So we've gone from 50m to 26m to 16m..... I reckon we'll be lucky to spend £10m at this rate. Still, if we spend the best part of £20m well, we should be able to strengthen sufficiently. Not sure how many players we'd get for £20. I'm sh1t and even my agent (my mum) would demand £100 for me.

The only change isn't that they aren't chasing big name signings anymore. Perhaps a realisation that Rovers in their current position can't attract big name players without huge wages (which we can't afford). Then they MUST stop the big talk. Mid table in the PL is the very limit of what we can achieve. Much like it was pre Venky's.
47er Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Cisse and Piatti were Champions League players? I didn't know that. You said "top-class players like Vuvinic and Adebayor" were not willing to join us. The implication was that we'd have to get by on the left-overs. I pointed out that top-class players like Cisse and Piatti were willing to join us but Venkys can't or won't pay.
BangkokRover Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 interesting that article says about his son moving onto the board in a few years. Does that go someway into denying the for sale rumour? I hope this is true, 21 is young enough for Rovers to get in his blood. Very good news if you ask me. I would say if the Venkys PR machine was any good they would have killed the rumor as soon as it appeared.
47er Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 The more things change... Yeah, what a revelation eh?!!!! I hope this is true, 21 is young enough for Rovers to get in his blood. Very good news if you ask me. I would say if the Venkys PR machine was any good they would have killed the rumor as soon as it appeared. Its good news so long as he isn't as clueless as the rest of his family.
Roverdale Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Starting at 21 he could have no knowledge whatsoever.. by the time he's a decent age he'll be as clued up as anyone in the game. That's if he has the interest and the passion of course. Better having a guy on the board at all times rather than running it from Pune with their shocking PR. Also.. Dame N'Doye is built, scoring that many goals no matter what league shows good positioning and finishing if nothing else. He could either be a big bruising striker that's in the right place at the right time a lot. Or he could be the Senegalese Jason Roberts..........
Roberto Policano Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Blackburn will have to pay a staggering £8.5million to sign FC Copenhagen striker Dame N’Doye http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Blackburn-told-must-pay-8-5m-FC-Copenhagen-striker-Dame-N-Doye-whose-50k-a-week-wage-demands-would-make-him-highest-earner-article761886.html He ain't worth that.Average player.£4 million tops.
pick32 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 We never had 50million to spend in the first place I would be happy with 26million the trust would of probably gave us about 5mill. Also I would rather get a main target man in and give Kalanic a chance as second striker than pay 8.5million for Ndoye.
SG192 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Venky’s director reveals Blackburn Rovers are to spend cautiously this summer Not sure when this interview was given, but it takes on a more positive tone regarding the club and any possible transfers. Lets hope our owners have taken stock of what to say and more importantly how to say it.
