i just want to say, i am not annoyed or have any more anamosity towards the venkys any more as i have finally accepted what we are, a bottom half of the table team that will probably finish around 13 or 14th or below every season. Im glad one of the rao brothers has come out and told us that we wont be pushing for 'fantasy players' anymore. Now i can sit back and know what to expect next season, mediocratey.. Thats fine by me but they should have come out and said that from the beginning.

Wow what's happened Roverandout ? Have you suddenly seen the light and become a born-again Christian? Anyway whatever it is it is much nicer for all us readers to read your last few posts compared to the previous ones now that you have apparently got rid of all the naked agression and dirty words.....welcome to the MB.

What do people think is the absolute minimum we need to buy? If we lose Hoilett and Samba then that ups the ante obviously but if they stayed I'd think a centre-back (or a left-back if Givet moves over), a replacement for J Jones, a Bentley-type player and 1 good striker.

If we were to sign Bellamy, Warnock and Bellamy that wouldn't cost too much, it would transform the team and we'd have plenty for a Jones replacement. That's sensible and affordable and I don't hear of too many rivals chasing them.

We wouldn't go down with that squad and we wouldn't go into debt. We'd play good football too. :tu:

I pointed out that top-class players like Cisse and Piatti were willing to join us but Venkys can't or won't pay.

would you pay 13m and then 70k per week for cisse! ?? huge talent, but a huge risk, at those figures. maybe the owners are right to exercise caution, if that's what they are doing.

What was our most succesful striker partnership? Shearer and Sutton, the SAS...what's the SAS's (and Del Boy's) motto?

He who Dares, Wins

SAS used to mean something different to me.. "a shag's... a shag!"

cisse is unproven at prem level.. shearer and sutton both had pedigree before we signed em, but i take your point. :D

At present, 2 central midfielders, 1 centre back/left back (and move Givet centre back) and 1 or 2 strikers.

Slipped under the radar, but is he technically our first signing?

something else slipped under the radar.. featured in rovers 2010-11 friendly v southport!

who was our manager back then.. who was our chief exec and who owned us ?? :P

I don't think that slipped under the radar, i believe we sent him packing

You said "top-class players like Vuvinic and Adebayor" were not willing to join us. The implication was that we'd have to get by on the left-overs.

I pointed out that top-class players like Cisse and Piatti were willing to join us but Venkys can't or won't pay.

My bad, I was referring to Champions League players when I talked about top-class players. Hence my admission the second time that Piatti and Cisse can be considered top-class players.

My point was more that we shouldn't be expecting Champions League players coming to Ewood rather than the top-class players' reluctance to join. I worded my sentences inappropriately and I apologize for that.

yes.. i understand that,, :D but if people say SKean has only given anderson a chance cos he's jerome's son, then maybe the genius sam was doing the same thing!

hell.. we had julio santa cruz here.. for no other reason than he was roque's brother.. there wasnt an outcry about that!

football is rife with players who only got their chance cos their relative was a pro or had connections in the game.

anton ferdinand.. any1! alex bruce, bradley wright phillips.. i could go on!

therefore, IMO the signing of miles cannot be used as another way to bash SK and the owners.

Which Cisse are you writing about?

Papiss Cisse?

He is hardly a top class player...

I'm not using it to bash Kean or Venkys.

But we sent him packing when Allardyce was in charge and we had no links to Jerome Andersen. He would have been sent packing for footballing reasons.

Now we have links and he's brought back on a permanent deal.

JSC was different, we brought him here to keep Rocky, who at the time was scoring goals for fun.

fife rover, i have seen the light. I realise now the realitys of our predicament. No more talk from me of doing well this season, i will just settle for avoiding relegation as will be every season. You know what they say pay peanuts, get monkeys. Now i can go to ewood with little expectation and not be disappointed. I am a born again rovers supporter ;)

JJ back at ScHalke

I don't know who wrote the article but it shows how biased the press can be.

First of all, just because he is there in pre-season training, it doesn't mean he won't be sold.

Second, paying £10 million for a 30 year old player is stupid.

SO, if Schalke wants him, they can keep him

If by slipped under the radar you mean attracted controversy and cynical remarks ever since January, then yes, it slipped under the radar.
