you haven't answered what i asked you, how much of the jones cash would the trust have made available to strengthen the team

If they weren't planning on selling up, most of it.

By the way, we are now supposed to be greatful to Venky's for them not pocketing a transfer fee? Not exactly digging deep out of their own funds, are they?

ffs its july 8th when have we ever made big money signings before this date, so cause it been posted on here as a "rumour" there selling up it must be true then, and as for Onuoha haven't heard anything on that for a few days it gone quiet, probably waiting till they get back from austria like the other defender there trying to sign

that's problem with this board full of anti venkys, they haven't been given a chance from day 1, they will never succeed with fans like most on here, give them time ,and if august 31st your not happy with who we signed then it time to to complain , do you actually really know what's going on behind the scenes, or are you just taking the word of all the anti venkys posters on here

Bullsh*t.

I was in a small minority (with the likes of Kelbo, Theno and Phillipl) in the early days being "negative" towards Venky's (for reasons I've posted here), the majority swinging over to the negative side is fairly recent.

If the search feature was working you could easily see that.

You're right, but IN MY OPINION I believe we will have a net spend of £0 at the end of the transfer window.

All this trauma, for what? So we can be a marketing tool for a chicken company, as they put in slightly more than the renowned 'tightwards' of the Trust?

well we all have are opinions , and im willing to give them a chance and your not , but people like you will find something wrong with everything, if we went out tomorrow and spent 30 million you would find a negative out of that, lets just see what comes out of this transfer window and then I will judge them

This pre-season really is headache worthy.. I do hold out hope that Venkys get their acts together but not holding out much hope.

As for reasons for being optimistic.. errr I don't rate any of the three teams promoted this year and a good few other clubs around us have not spent.

Still holding out a little hope that Venkys have a trick up their sleave.. maybe a potential marquee signing hense the lack of sponsor, contract talk delays and Samba still being around (and not doing his usual public I want out chats).

How much have Venky's reinvested of the Jones money?

I realise there's a long way to go of the window yet but until they open their cheque book your above question doesn't prove a point.

Besides, the Trust stopped spending money once they put us up for sale (which is understandable, you don't buy new alloys for a car you're going to sell), it wasn't something they did through their entire ownership. If Venky's announced they were trying to sell us, I wouldn't expect them to put any more money in either (except to keep us in the PL which is essentially what the trust were prepared to do and did).

Haha, well I wouldn't actually, I have always been very positive when it comes to BRFC. In fact, just a few short weeks ago after Venky's tried to rinse Yernited for a few more million for Jones, plus the players we seemed to be linked with, plus the rumoured budget of £40million, I was feeling pretty chipper about things.

However, reading between the lines, I believe Venky's have realised that they can't afford to propel us up the league at all- ergo we will go no further than we would under the Trust.

I think it's time to really worry when ordinary no axe to grind with anyone at all posters like me are worrying. I have always, and you can check back through my posts , been one of those who wanted to give our owners a chance and felt that since our success would be their success they would make very sure that Rovers did not fail as that would be their failure too. However, it's not the fact that we haven't signed anyone that is getting to me. It's the fact that we don't look like we'll ever sign anyone because we don't have any direction from anyone around the club. It's the feeling that nobody knows what to do let alone how to do it. It's the feeling that there is nobody actually taking responsibility for anything that goes on at the club. And as to how much of the Jones money we'd have seen under the Trust probably none, but then how much have we seen so far under our current owners and how much do you think we will see?

But "people like you" were saying the same thing about judging them on February the 1st during the last window. If we spent £30m tomorrow, I'd probably faint but judge each signing on its merit, if we blew it all on one player then yeah I probably would still be negative unless it was Lionel Messi. I would equally argue that should we have a bad window, you'll say the time to judge them in after the next January window or at the end of the next season.

The 'time to judge them' has already moved once, no doubt it will move again should nothing unquestionably good happen.

The window which is universally accepted as being the most difficult to purchase players and for them to succeed, you only need to look at £50 million Torres and £37 million Dzeko for that. We spent about £4 million in transfers and a further £4 million in wages for two loanees, one of whom was one of our better players in the second half of the season- that in my eyes was a decent window, this has always been the KEY window, there can be no more waiting or saying "January is when we will sign players", put up or shut up.

Imy9, when the search function comes back do a search for "The time to judge them is on February 1st" and see how many results you get back, I'd be surprised if it was less than 2 pages. I'm not arguing about the ins and outs of buying in January, my point is how many people told us to judge them after the January window only to be told now we should withhold judgement until after the end of this window.

You could have judged them on 1st February- they did o.k IMO, purchased some exciting talent and some tried and tested 'oldies' on loan.

Currently they have kept season tickets the lowest in the football league, the rest is speculation- 1st September will be crystal clear for me and no more time after.

right back on topic, Manchester City duo Jo and Felipe Caicedo both look set to seal moves to Russia. Jo in talks with CSKA, Lokomotiv in for Caicedo. would you take a chance on any of these two ?

They have hardly set the premier league on fire have they. That's why they are getting rid.

to be honest don't think they have been given a chance really, they seam to replace every player every year, out of the two i would go Felipe Caicedo always rated him, as for jo your right even at everton he didn't really live up to his price

Really? We needed strengthening in January and it was their chance to make a good first impression being their first window. Please don't re-write history and suggest our squad then was near perfect and all we needed was minor tinkering. Our needs then were the same as they are now and people were calling for a dedicated left-back, midfielder and striker. We bought 2 players, one of whom hasn't featured at all and the other making cameos that although are positive in terms of the future didn't immediately improve our team. We also loaned two players, one of whom was an expensive failure (RSC, 9 games, 0 goals) and J.Jones who on the whole was a good loan. So one out of four, not great IMO.

You cherry pick Torres and Dzecko (bought by two clubs with more money and sense) but declined to mention....

Michael Bradley (loaned to Villa)

David Bentley (loaned to Brum)

Obafemi Martins (loaned to Brum)

Daniel Sturridge (loaned to Bolton)

Gael Kakuta (loaned to Fulham)

Sulley Muntari (loaned to Sunderland)

Steven Pienaar (Sold to Everton for £3m)

Robbie Keane (loaned to WHU and who we're now trying to buy)

Demba Ba (sold to WHU)

Wayne Bridge (left back we needed loaned to WHU)

Jamie O'Hara (loaned to Wolves)

Not for one minute am I claiming they set the world alight but I think they would have improved our squad more than Formica, RSC and Rochina did (in terms of immediate effect).
