  1. 1. Are you happy with the new sponsors

    • Delighted!
    • I'd have prefered a commercial sponsor, but this is a great alternative
    • Simply don't care
    • Waste a valuable income
    • No objection to charity, do object to the Princes Trust

Thanks John.

Fingers crossed, not having one will be a disaster.

I take it you mean money-wise it would be a disaster?

Having one could be a disaster too, by ruining an excellent shirt

I can't see how they can put shirts on sale until the sponsor is sorted. No sponsor is going to want to pay money if replica shirts have already been sold without their name on. I suspect it may well be mid or late September before the replica shirts are on sale in the club shop. From a financial point of view this is becoming a farce. They have known for long enough that they needed a new sponsor and yet have failed to come up with one. This is one area in which I felt sure that Venky's would be able to deliver. After all, this is one area where a knowledge of football is not required but simply sound business contacts. I felt sure that they had enough contacts in India to come up with a major sponsor. The fact that we are a little more than a week and a half away from the start of the season without a sponsor in place is very disappointing. Hopefully they will be able to get something sorted within the next few days. Surely there must be a company out there who wants to be involved with the Rovers or are our owners asking too much?

Could it possibly be sponsors dont want to be associated with Venkys?

Theres no way I would let my company sponsor Rovers shirts with this lot in charge and I am being serious, Venkys are being ridiculed all over the place, not a good time to be a sponsor at Rovers..

I would believe him at the moment Gav. Very reliable source from John on that one.

Just a farce.

Yes John could be right, but he also swore blind the doctor didn't go on the pre-season tour, and that just wasn't true at all.

Lets wait and see.

COORS anyone <_<

Perspex anyone <_<

But in all honesty we're dealing in a different market these days, we need a sponsor, but with the sky money its not critical.

I reckon the lack of activity is simply because Venky's are asking for too much dosh.

I don't blame them for wanting to generate as much money as possible but there's a fine line to be trodden.

Don't forget, these are the people that supposedly gave a mandate for Kalinic to be sold for £12m!

Therefore, they have previous when it comes to overpricing things.

That is the reason my mate gave me yesterday as to why we haven't got a sponsor and are giving it away to a charity.

Can't really see it myself, I would have thought that any incoming cash even from a lower level sponsor would be better for venkys rather than nothing at all, not to mention the publicity that they seem to crave.

No I didn't, I said I knew some of the reasons behind his departure.

Well, we'll agree to disagree John, I don't do trawling back through threads, but its easy to find, you must have been mistaken, as possibly I am with the sponsorship.

Probably the reason the Malaysia Airlines deal fell through.

We could get a beer/ betting sponsor and instead of leaving kids shirts Blank because of rules/law puta charity on it or if we want more money get 2 sponsors

@roversinsider's news on the sponsor:

SPONSOR..for those asking, the owners are keen to keep the 'value' of this & won't let it go for less than they believe it is worth

SPONSOR...they also won't allow just any company to be on the shirt hence rejected two betting companies already

SPONSOR...they are also aware of bad press and fans feelings towards them and are considering a charity for the season

SPONSOR...club have received offers EXCEEDING previous shirt deals. Feel it's worth more, not that it's unnattractive to businesses

I know it's from the unreliable/as yet unknown Roversinsider, but i like the idea of a charity on the front. Obviously we will lose the money, but i think the good will it would return could be worth it

Putting aside the merit and reliability of the sources for a moment, isn't this part of ship exactly their bag? i.e. What they are actually good and experienced at? i.e. Hard nosed Business?

p.s. If it's true they've knocked betting companies back, then good on them!

lol.

So, one hand, they're hardballing for the most lucrative sponsor out there?

Yet, they're also thinking of giving it away to a charity?

Okay, Rover"insider".
