  1. 1. Are you happy with the new sponsors

    • Delighted!
    • I'd have prefered a commercial sponsor, but this is a great alternative
    • Simply don't care
    • Waste a valuable income
    • No objection to charity, do object to the Princes Trust

If it is the Princes Trust then a wonderful gesture in my book.

I have a lot of time for the work they do and this should get us some positive exposure in the media too.

I await the first positive article. I'm not holding my breath. I think it will be thinly veiled praise at best.

I'm not overly sure what kind of work The Princes' Trust do but I'm under the impression that their main focus is in helping to provide positive futures for young people? Couldn't be more topical.

I presume that the owners don't want to sell shirt sponsorship for less than they believe it is worth and set a precedent. If a respected charity benefits in some way from that then great.

If this comes off then I wonder what the reaction will be in some sections of the media, reluctant acknowledgement? Any kind of acknowledgement? Ridicule?

Either way, I for one, will be tremendously proud of our magnificent football club.

Plus, the shirts will look ace!

one thing about this, is that if the owners had no money, or very little money then they would have got a huge sponsorship deal. So imo, if it is the Princes Trust or any other charity, then clearly the owners should be congratulated on this.

no doubt, that the media and sections of this board will not be happy, or they will indicate some sort of hidden agenda by Venkys.

but well done to Venkys, and hopefully the club will once again be seen in a better light again

Yeah, I just checked out their logo. Would look good!

If it is them, great. Sometimes it's good to do something noble for once.

EPIC FAIL on the commercial front.

Whilst I applaud the use of a charity, rather than give to a betting company for £400k per season ( all i understand they could actually get in the current market) it just demonstrates that Venky's have absolutely no clout in raising revenues for the club.

Also an epic fail for Kentaro, who should have had this sorted 6 months ago with their network of international clients in the sports rights field.

Let me make myself perfectly clear - happy that they have chosen charity over a tiny amount of revenue, but it raises yet more questions about their business acumen. It also surprises me that our incoming deputy MD, a former commercial director, also had no impact on raising revenues.

Epic Fail! in a time, when our club and owners are being made fun of, this deal will ensure we get back on track. Do we honestly need that extra revenue right now? like I said, we don't know, but Venkys might not need a lucrative sponsorship right now. We just have to moan about everything, its in our nature I guess.

I agree Andy, excellent gesture but let's not pretend they were knocking back big deals, a la Barca.

Maybe Venky's will realise, PL or not we ain't no big fish and if they want the big sponsors, we need a succesful side.

you can get lucrative sponsorship deals, without them having to be on the front of the shirt. nothing stops us, from approaching other sponsors and splashing their name on advertising boards or something

Not moaning sjs.

If it was a charity or some gaudy Bet 52/24/7 logo plastered over the shirt for peanuts, then they've made the right choice.

But they have been searching for a while now, so obviously the big money spinsorships that Venky's think they can get are out of reach.

Absolutely in love with that shirt. Best one since 95 by a mile. It looks smashing with the red logo, and not a box, and the Prince's trust is a great charity. Amazing timing swell with the riots going on.

I don't really care if they turned down other deals or not, as I think it is obvious that they did. Personally I think having a charity on the shirt should be the rule and not the exception for PL clubs, and I was always a fan of the Acorns shirt Villa had, and of course Unicef on Barca. Great stuff. Makes me really proud to be a Rovers fan. Top drawer move by Rovers/Venkys. :xmas:

And what if they are? I'm sure Venkys could have made some dosh from some middle of the road outfit. The fact of the matter is - Venkys took an enlightened approach from which we could well reap benefits anyway.

This is another thing to strike off the list of "things that Venkys can't get right".
