    • Delighted!

As I eluded to recently, the club were not close to getting a paid sponsor for this season - they were trying very hard up until last week to try and agree a deal with a number of companies (with the emphasis being on having a deal in place for Saturday).

Obviously, the preference was/is to have a sponsor who can contribute financially.

Fair play promoting a chairty though.

EPIC FAIL on the commercial front.

Whilst I applaud the use of a charity, rather than give to a betting company for £400k per season ( all i understand they could actually get in the current market) it just demonstrates that Venky's have absolutely no clout in raising revenues for the club.

Also an epic fail for Kentaro, who should have had this sorted 6 months ago with their network of international clients in the sports rights field.

Let me make myself perfectly clear - happy that they have chosen charity over a tiny amount of revenue, but it raises yet more questions about their business acumen. It also surprises me that our incoming deputy MD, a former commercial director, also had no impact on raising revenues.

If it was the plan to have a charity as the sponsor, then fair play. In the commercial world of football, I am actually happy that Rovers have a charity as the sponsor.

Ok if the plan was to get a big name as the sponsor, then it would be seen as a failure.

As much as I do not like how venkys have been running the club since they took over. I am aware that they do a lot of charity stuff in India. If this is a continuation of that, but charity in the Uk, then I am all for it and credit should be given to them.

None of us know what their intentions were with regards getting a sponsor. I suggest that we therefore must give them the benefit of the doubt and believe it was their intention to have a charity as the sponsor on the shirt.

Some may say, then why has it taken this long to decide on the charity. Maybe the reason is simple that there are a lot of charities to choose from.

Rovers supporters should be proud to wear the shirt with a charity as a sponsor on. Ironically having a charity as the sponsor could even highlight the club more than having a commercial business as the sponsor.

Wondering if this website could do anything to support, highlight the Princes trust, in the sameway as the club are doing.

Fair enough if you see it as a failure to get a big sponsorship deal. But as a fan, I'm delighted we have a charity logo on the front of our shirts, and echo the sentiments that it makes me proud to be a Rovers fan. It might bring some dignity back to the club, at a time when we have been a mockery in the media.

I think we should embrace this decision and be proud to have the Princes Trust on our shirts!

Does it really matter how it came about other than just being picky and spiteful for spites sake?

They still could have gone for Zands Pizza House for £15 a year but they went for a charity instead.

It sets a trend for the other Premiership fatcats to follow

WELL DONE ROVERS

The kit looks great with that sponsor and hopefully this will do some good for the charity as well as giving Rovers some positive PR.

Does anyone know what colour the logo is going to be on the away kit? Also about the kits in general- are they made of quality material like the new england shirt? From the pics they look a bit cheapo material.

In the absence of being able to find a paying sponsor, this is a smart move but whatever way you look at it, there is a hole in the club's finances and Venky's credibility.

I hope the Prince of Wales Trust did some checking on this.

Not true, they came very close to agreeing a paid sponsorship deal with an Indian company only last week, but the length of that deal didn't fit in with other ‘commitments’ They also turned down several other offers believing the money offered wasn’t enough for a premiership club with our sort of exposure.

So to say “the club were not close to getting a paid sponsor for this season” is complete and utter bunkum John.

As for the princess trust I think it’s a fantastic idea, its certainly created the right kind of publicity already, and I applaud the decision.

What checking would the Princes Trust need to do exactly Philip?

As predicted people moan, we get money and people moan about Venkys keeping it for themselves yet they moan if we don't get money.

The kit looks superb though I think it will be sold out Saturday!

Unbelievable.

You really are a bitter individual who will find a negative in anything and everything.

Sad really, I feel sorry for you.

Wondered how long it would take for you to pop up with a moan and a dig at the Raos.

What good have betting shops done in Blackburn....none. The Princes Trust do a great job, something the Club can be PROUD to be associated with.

Why don't you give it a rest.

Agreed!

Who cares if we were close or not to another deal? It's a brilliant move by the owners.

We are now the "Barca" of the PL LOL

And to be honest, it's makes some of the other shirts look a bit "Tacky" doesn't it? Especially if you are sponsored by a Ambulance Chaser, Betting, or parasites like Wonga et all.

+1 to the owners from me and if you don't agree with my view, tough bloody luck, it's my view and it's 100% correct (For me) LOL

Better day for Rovers today, be nice to close the week with a defender and a striker?

See you Saturday BBE!!! COYB's

Im delighted with the Princes Trust being on our shirt. Its going to make people around the world take not of what the charity does as well as more exposure for us and I think it is the smartest shirt we have had since the 80's when I was a wee whipper snapper!!! Yeah Im only 30 guys.

I will be buying this shirt for my son and I, and I may even get the Mrs one, get a good pic and send it in to Zoo or Nuts!!!!!

Just out of curiosity, will the emblem be red on the away kit? I hope not, it would look out of place, i may be wrong but I think a black version on the away kit to fall in line with the colour scheme of that particular shirt

ROLL ON SATURDAY :brfcsmilie:

Believe what you want to believe Gav but not sure where you got that from - I am just relaying the (accurate) information which I have seen & also heard, I will try and refrain from saying anymore in order not to be "negative".....

As I said, fair play going for a charity though, Venky's trying to create a positive image.

Well I too heard exactly what Gav said from a very good source within the club so we'll all have to agree to disagree as we drink our half full morning brew.....or half empty in your case John ;)

There's no pleasing some people, they moan for the sake of moaning.

It is a perfectly good point that we were incapable of sourcing a paid sponsor. So much so that even slashing the price did not make it a good option for a whole host of companies.

Ok if the plan was to get a big name as the sponsor, then it would be seen as a failure.

I don't even think they were aiming for a big name sponsor. They just wanted a sponsor but couldn't secure anyone after wasting a large period of time at the end of last season and the start of the summer. I just hope we get cracking on securing next years sponsorship deal now as we have lost out on a couple of million because of poor management.

As predicted people moan, we get money and people moan about Venkys keeping it for themselves yet they moan if we don't get money.

It's just a missed chance and something else to make Venky's look very poor. I remember well the crap I gave my Villa mate when they failed to find a sponsor and got Acorn, now our owners have managed the same feat.

The kit does look pretty nice but the issues at a senior level need to be resolved asap to ensure that this doesn't happen again and that companies are happy to put their name to the BRFC brand in future years.

Well I too heard exactly what Gav said from a very good source within the club so we'll all have to agree to disagree as we drink our half full morning brew.....or half empty in your case John ;)

John's infomation is 100% accurate, not a case of being negative.

I think if you look at this whole thing, it's pretty apparent that Venky's could have got a sponsor, something in the shape of Bet24, but, likely thought better of that as the financial gain would be negligible and the principle is against their own. Hindu scriptures prohibit gambling and that is a fact. It wouldn't do having a sponsor from that sort of background. Yes, they've probably taken a loss, but the fact is, it'll serve Venky's better to take a loss for a season in the hope that they can make some serious headway in the league and attract a more lucrative sponsor either next season or the season following.

On the kit, I think it does look great, but I have an issue with sponsor proportions. If you're going to have something on there, it needs to be bigger. Aesthetically, having a logo of any sort that is very small on a kit that has two large blocks of colour looks off to me. If it's size was perhaps increased by 50%, It would've been absolutely perfect, but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to visuals.

Havent; bought a shirt for a few seasons now, but would be very proud to wear the blue and white halves with such a good cause on the front.

Full marks from me.
