  1. 1. Are you happy with the new sponsors

    • Delighted!
    • I'd have prefered a commercial sponsor, but this is a great alternative
    • Simply don't care
    • Waste a valuable income
    • No objection to charity, do object to the Princes Trust
    • Other (Please Explain)

should have got unicef, looked good on baca shirts.

the princes trust logo is too big it looks awful.

Are you havin a laugh or what. Does it really matter what the logo looks like, it is promoting a charity. So what if you feel that you may look stupid for a season because you don't like the logo or the logo is too big. It is what the charity represents that is important. What did you expect instead "stop the killing of chickens".

nutshell!!!

are we venky fans or rovers fans?

rovers til i die and not venkys til i die!

People have to remember the biggest beneficiary from all this is a CHARITY! There is more important issues than transfers, The Prince's trust is a great charity that helps young people and if the last 5days are anything to go by the Charity is needed now more than ever!

WELL DONE VENKY'S I APPLAUD YOU

Yes, I will just like in 1971/72 when we were almost rock bottom of the old Third Division for a spell with gates down to about 5 or 6 thousand. Where were you then ?

Just been born

Jason Roberts on Twitter seems to be a bigger Venkys fan than Rovers fan of late. I appreciate the positive attitude but it's honestly becoming nauseating and adds no discernible value.

They pay his mega wages balwer.Abbey, you say charity begins at home...what the 'eck do you think the Princes trust is!

Well both Roberts, Samba, Olsson etc seems to be very happy about the club at the moment, so it can't be all bad. Besides, if people would start referring to Rovers as ROVERS, and not Venkys, it would help promote Rovers too. This charity thing is a great move by Rovers - not Venkys.

The way I look at it is a million or so a year really wouldn't make too much difference to us. If we get rid of Keith that a million a year saved in wages, I'd happily trade Andrews for a decent looking sponsor for once which has a good background.

would you rather have the venkys get a good reputation or would you rather have spend 5 million on a better player or 3 million on an inferir one?

I'm all for our club having a good reputation yes! You are picking up too much on Venky's here. I mentioned them as lots of people have stated their poor image reflects badly on us. Therefore if their's improves then so does the club's by association, think about it.

I very much doubt that if £1m was gonna make a difference to potential signings coming in, that this deal would have happened!

I'm sure we make more than £1.50 profit on the shirts.

I'd be disappointed if the margin was under 70% on them.

If the shirts sell for about £40, and we make a, for the sake of underestimation, a 50% mark up on them (£20), then in order to make up the 1.5m we would need to sell an extra 75,000 shirts. If its 70% (£28), then the figure is nearer 53,500 (off the top of my head).

Now this is unlikely, but if this message board is indicative of the general rovers supporter then you can easily see how SOME of the sponsership revenue will be recouped through shirt sales.

were we to sell, say, 20,000 extra shirts (no idea how realistic this is) then we could look at it effectively as a £500,000 a year sponsership deal. Alright its a third of what we were payed by crown, and probably the cheapest in the league, but we're also supporting a charity at the same time.

Also, it can only boost our reputation. In fact the more I think about it the more I like it, top work Venky's (let's hope its not the last time we get to say that!).

Stupid decision that's only going to mean a lower income and even less money for Tranfers. The PT is a wonderful organisation and I'm sure there are a million and one ways Rovers could help and promote their cause without having to forgo the lucrative sponsorship money. Having collectors with buckets at every game, giving them free advertising on the hoardings, giving them a section on the Rovers website...I could go on.

If we had genuinely wealthy owners who were putting their money where there mouth was it would be fine but we don't and we can not afford to give up a shirt sponsorship no matter how warm and fuzzy it makes us feel inside to be seen as a charitable team. However, one good thing about it is it may get our owners a better reputation with other fans I suppose but I'd still rather have a bigger transfer fund to be honest.

This all started with Barcelona and they never did it because they actually wanted to do something nice for Unicef, they wanted to introduce a commercial sponsor on their shirts but knew the fans would never accept changing the sponsorless design for financial gain immediatley so did the Unicef thing to get the fans used to seing a sponsored shirt. First chance they got they've dumped them and now have a £125m deal with the Qatar Foundation (which isn't a charity even though it sounds like one).

Now clubs like Villa and now us think we're Barcelona or something.

Firstly Villa sponsored Acorn BEFORE Barca as far as I am aware.

Secondly we dont know how much money the owners, however as a few posters have said they seem to be putting money into hiring quality backroom personnel, which in my eyes is just as important as any funds given to the manager to spend.

Slightly off topic but Petrovic cost over £3 million according to most sources, yet you've put him down as £2 million on your sig, the lost million wasnt an agents fee was it ;)

Just to explain my 'other' vote in the poll...

I'm all for helping charities, but maybe a better idea for the shirts after not getting an acceptable sponsor deal would have been to leave them blank and let the Prince's Trust have their name on the Riverside Stand like company's such as Walkersteel and CIS have had in the past.

That said, I still want a shirt for the first time in years... the logo as it appear in the photo doesn't look out of place like some have in the past.

Who know's though, maybe there will be a sponsorless replica option available like Birmingham are doing ;);)

Anyone know when they go on sale? There is [surprise, surprise! ;) ], er "Rock all" about them on www.onerovers.co.uk

I'd have hoped they'd have had enough stock in to cash in on the announcement. Mind you, I've only been watching the club for 53 years; should I have expected anything different?

I`m pretty sure barca set the precedent.

As for when they go on sale, a lot of posters are posting in knowledge it will be saturday. ... I expect that to be the 2nd part of the announcement, together with a discount??

Shirts will go on sale from Saturday in the club shop... and just to let you know that when purchased they will not have the princes trust logo on as they won't be ready in time for Saturday. Therefore when you purchase the shirt it will be sponsorless and the receipt will enable you to bring the shirt back for the logo to be placed upon it.

Good news in my opinion. This allows people to have the choice between having the sponsor on the shirt or not!

Well done Rovers!
