  1. 1. Are you happy with the new sponsors

    • Delighted!
    • I'd have prefered a commercial sponsor, but this is a great alternative
    • Simply don't care
    • Waste a valuable income
    • No objection to charity, do object to the Princes Trust

I would not buy the shirt with Venky's branding all over it that's for sure - and that's coming from somebody who usually buys one kit per season.

Yet you'd buy one with another company's name on and willingly give said company coverage rather than the company who own your club. Some people's hatred of Venkys runs too deep.

It's my opinion, blue and white, sorry you don't agree, but you won't change my mind. There's something extremely tasteless about the whole thing, and there's a vast difference between footballers trying to speak in a different language to publicise their tour and eating junk food to publicise the owners' business.

I'm completely with you on this one 'mum.

Ii feels like we have completely cheapened Rovers image.

Is this what raising the profile of the brand is supposed to be like? I'd prefer it to be done with a bit of class and a some pride rather than a complete joke.

I'm sure it's a good giggle but it feels like our players are joining in on the owners joke, at the club's expense.

Watching their smiling happy faces and reading tweets about how the team are 'loving' pre-season, whilst everyone else can see the gaping holes in our squad, is like watching someone sleep walk towards the edge of a cliff.

Drama queen or no, we simply must get some good fortune and hit the ground running at the start of the season.

Pavone, Rochina and Formica had better be ready...

Exactly, Jisty. I've tried to give the Raos the benefit of the doubt but they really don't help themselves. If they want to publicise their brand/Blackburn Rovers there are plenty of other ways to do it. Ours is a proud club - well it was - but you can't kid me that whatever that food was it's good for footballers. The look on Dunny's face says it all. Well, the players may have enjoyed the charade but I'm yet to be convinced on that.

Hi Mum hope you & your hubby are ok. Is he looking forward to the trip to HK?. I have to agree with you on this one, totally distasteful. Blue & white you need to understand the main point we are making is very clear & there are no excuses. Dunny is overweight he is a player who is over 30 and is permanently injured & that diet of fried chicken is not going to help him perform at his best. As we are the fans who pay their wages we don't want to be paying for players who are persistently injured as it is we have a small squad & we need all our players to be as fit as possible to perform at their very best. I include all those that fall into that category Grella esp.

Rant Over!

I think diet is a bit strong! Don't disagree that Dunny's a chunk! But a couple of pieces of fried chicken? Come on, sure he didn't sink a pint or 20 on his recent stag do! Sorry but I think it's just another thing for people to bash the owners about, yes some things are legimate and they need bashing for them but I can't see the problem in them eating a couple of pieces of chicken! Just think it's going a bit OTT!

Literally nothing wrong with the owners using their players to advertise their brand. I would think they were mad if they didn't to be honest. I think a few people need to get a grip. if the players looked a little bit sheepish it will be because im sure they are not used to being involved in pr like this. Also hope there will be a venkys express in the jack walker upper this year so I can partake!

Say what you like Nook but sitting in a changing room eating fried chicken is not the right image for professional sportsmen/women.

It's probably only just acceptable to have a fast food chain logo on the shirts given the problems in this country with obesity, especially childhood obesity. Yet alcohol and gambling companies are a no-go. How hypocritical.

Venky's aren't a fast food chain at all. The irony of all this overreaction is that no-one would care if KFC were our new sponsors and this was one of their adverts!

Edit: they have three restaurants in India.

Venkys are trying to enter the fast food Market. They are not using Rovers image/players to advertising egg production or pharmecuticals they are advertising fried chicken - using the Venkys logo

Name one other fast food chain that advertise in a top flight club - then ask youself why. It's not as though they can't afford it.

Maybe it is an over-reaction but this is a culmination of events, not just a one-off.

The ironic aspect of all this is that they are using people that noone has heard of in India to promote a brand that only exists out there.

It's crazy. It is the equivalent of a British company using C string Bollywood actors to promote their products.

I can hardly see a £45 a year Indian Marketstall holder watching the advert and shouting:

"Jason Roberts eats at Venkys! I must take the family!"

The advert does not promote Blackburn Rovers and the advert does not promote Venkys in a successful manner.

It's a good job their Father had some brains...

KFC are major sponsors of cricket here in Australia

Hungry Jacks (Burger King) are major sponsors of AFL

and I bet there's more examples...

not that unusual for fast food companies to align themselves to sport - especially when they're all offering 'light options' etc & trying to convince us their food is healthy.
