T4E Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Friday Night Lights is amazing - great show!! Just started watching Friday Night Lights, about halfway through the second season. Great show. Currently rocking a huge man-crush on Tim Riggins. Quote
Backroom Tom Posted March 31, 2013 Backroom Posted March 31, 2013 I'm finally up to date with game of thrones ready for series 3 Love it, its fantastic although any character I like ends up dead or gone Two of my favourites being Jagen, who I doubt we will see in his old form again and the dance teacher who I presume we won't see at all (no book spoilers or ill go all banny on you ) Tyrion is just fantastic though along with Bronn It makes me smile seeing slightly obscure British actors show up in roles in a major major show, for example Robb Stark was in Sirens, Bronn is half of Robson and Jerome (that shocked me when I realised it), half of the cast of skins seem to turn up and the fat guy from The Full Monty was only on the iron throne! I kind of want to try the books now but not sure if it would ruin it doing it this way round as you can't create any imagery from it Quote
T.J.Newton Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Gareth(Mackenzie crook) from the office(uk) is in season 3 Quote
ultrablue Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Series 3 of Game of Thrones is finally getting going.Episode 4 was one of the best. Quote
ABBEY Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Spartacus has finished .. Was one of the all time great programmes . Quote
Salgado Is A Hero Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Spartacus has finished .. Was one of the all time great programmes . Aye, I loved Spartacus after seeing it recommended on here. Cba to wait a week for each Game of Thrones episode so I'm just gonna wait a few months and watch them when I want to. I don't like dealing with cliffhangers. Final season of Breaking Bad to begin airing on August 11th. There's also talk of a spinoff involving Saul Goodman. Arrested Development (imo, the 3rd greatest tv show of all time) starts again on May 26. Quote
Amo Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Losing the will to watch Game of Thrones. What they've done with the source material is horrendous. Quote
Backroom Tom Posted April 22, 2013 Backroom Posted April 22, 2013 Series 3 of Game of Thrones is finally getting going. Episode 4 was one of the best. I didn't enjoy it that much but the end was ridiculously predictable so I was waiting for it to happen and glad its now out of the way quickly Bit of a slow start the season so far really Quote
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I think Series 3 of Game of Thrones has gone downhill from last season, though there is still time to recover. A pretty slow season so far and the various plots at times appear to be all over the place. Quote
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted April 25, 2013 Author Moderation Lead Posted April 25, 2013 I've heard many a good thing about GOT, but I'm leaving it until it's almost finished- I really CBA with the gaps between seasons, the cliff hangers of Breaking Bad have been excruciating! Quote
Backroom Mike E Posted April 25, 2013 Backroom Posted April 25, 2013 I have a habit of waiting for a series to finish and buying the box-set. Far more enjoyable imo. Doing that with 'The Thick Of It' is the best thing I ever did. I think the laughter still echoes in the lounge. Quote
Amo Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 (edited) I think Series 3 of Game of Thrones has gone downhill from last season, though there is still time to recover. A pretty slow season so far and the various plots at times appear to be all over the place. The show has been on the decline since Season Two. Seems like all the nuance & wit of the books is being dropped in favour of more popcorn television. I've heard many a good thing about GOT, but I'm leaving it until it's almost finished- I really CBA with the gaps between seasons, the cliff hangers of Breaking Bad have been excruciating! That does raise a valid point: At this rate, GoT is going to end up overtaking the novels (pull your finger outta your ass, George!). Will be curious to see how they handle it. I'm already surprised at how quickly they're rushing through things from book three, what happens when they reach books four & five - where practically nothing happens? Time is not on GoT's side, whatever way you look at it. Edited April 25, 2013 by Amarillo Quote
ABBEY Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 The league .. Just watched season 1 .. Very very funny . Quote
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Spartacus has finished .. Was one of the all time great programmes . A great series indeed, the story lines and fight scenes were just great.A series that pulled no punches as to just how brutal life could be for a slave in those times. R.I.P. Andy Whitfield. Quote
old darwen blue Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 (edited) Don't forget the other scenes in Spartacus which were also equally enjoyable to watch!!!! Or so others have told me Edited May 2, 2013 by old darwen blue Quote
ABBEY Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Just watched first episode of Banshee , looks good . From writers of True Blood I believe. Another good show. Quote
T.J.Newton Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) Just watched the 1st episode of The Vikings(a new lovefilm instant exclusive show), Really promising, high quality show, its kind of a mix of Spartacus/game of thrones but About Vikings, its quite historically accurate(from what I gather) and I'm also really liking Banshee, a pretty original show, some really brutal fight scenes(and borderline pornographic sex scenes, though they are relevant to the story!) LeChuck Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Anybody watched the new Arrested Development? I'm 7 episodes in and I'm not impressed. I wasn't expecting much though because I thought the tail end of the third season was heading that way. Quote

I wasn't expecting much though because I thought the tail end of the third season was heading that way. Going to start watching tonight. Very worrying to read that. My fear is that the new series will feature the writers making big deals about the in-jokes that have become cult classics since it was cancelled. The beauty of AD was that everything was very subtle and if you missed a clever reference then it was your own fault. The challenge will be to see what new running gags they can weave in. If they just create a homage to the brilliance of things they did in the first three seasons, it'll be a huge let down. Quote
Lathund Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Only watched the first episode, and was disappointed. Hoping things will pick up as they go along, but I doubt it will. Quote

I wasn't expecting much though because I thought the tail end of the third season was heading that way. About the same verdict from me as well and I agree about the 2nd half of the 3rd series. Perhaps unfair though, to have kept up the standard of the first 2 would have been asking a lot. Not many comedies make much more than two great seasons before having to parody themselves a bit and running out of steam. Still, it's the greatest of its type ever made so it will always have that. Salgado Is A Hero Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I read up on it first and it said the first 6 aren't as good but gets better with episode 7, which unsurprisingly is about Gob. Then it apparently stays good. I watched episode 7 which was good and episode 1 which was alright. I'm not really considering it as season 4, rather a form of spin-off. For me, there's no point comparing it to the other series because it will just make it seem worse. Quote
