Saw an advert for The Blacklist, looks interesting, anyone know anything about it?

After the first episode im quite positive, good humour in the mix also. One new show i can recommend is Hostages, great first episode last week.

Reading through this i have not seen the sci-fi show Haven being recommended, really great show that's running on its fourth season now

Breaking Bad was remarkable from episode one right through to the finale

One of the best series I have ever watched

I am worried though, Hank never went back for Huell which means he is still sat waiting for him

I really hope Huell has a part in the currently being developed Saul Goodman spin-off show, the shows going to be a prequel apparently, set before breaking bad, its being made Vince Gilligan so should be good(but I think it will be lighter in tone than Breaking Bad)

Boardwalk Empire is incredible. The Walking Dead has just returned. Mad Men is due to come back. The Killing is another fantastic show. These would be the ones that I follow religiously, as well as Breaking Bad before it finished. Rescue Me is a series that I have been catching up on over the last few months. It's very good on the whole, though there are some major plot holes and can be too drawn out. Orange Is The New Black is a series that I'm going to start watching.

It's funny how you are genuinely sad when an iconic series that you become attached to comes to an end. The Sopranos, The Wire, Friday Night Lights and Entourage are four shows that I really miss but which finished at the right time. Breaking Bad is the same. You become emotionally attached and don't want it to end, but know that it's run it's course and gone out on top. Unfortunately that's not how Dexter finished. That was another show that I really loved, but the final series was weak and the show should have wrapped the season before.

I never really watch TV, because at one point I was following 8 or 9 shows, which were downloaded, so I never watched TV (apart from the news and sport), which is a good thing because it's dung.

I haven't seen any new great shows start in the last year or 2(other than maybe "house of cards"-US), though saying that it usually takes the very best shows a couple of seasons to really start paying of.

Boardwalk Empire series four starts this Saturday the 26th on Sky, unmissable in my opinion.

New series hasn't been as good. First three seasons are unbelievable though, second in drama's only to Breaking Bad imo.

I find seasons of boardwalk empire always start a little plodding, but get much much better around episodes 5/6

personally I think there's only Mad men that's in the same 5star league as Breaking Bad, very different types of shows but both great in every department(acting, writing, style, plot, originality)

Just a heads up for anyone interested, one of my favourites of all time has returned to television, Whose Line is it Anyway? Only found out by chance so I thought I would pass it on in case there any fans that frequent these boards.

Yes that's the one, only it's since moved to America with an American presenter.

Didn't know they did some stuff on the radio as well, cheers for that I'll have a look out for it.

I finished the Wire this week and got that bittersweet feeling you always get when an amazing series is finished. It is now part of the holy trinity for me (Breaking Bad, The Sopranos and The Wire). I am looking for a new series to get in to - any suggestions? I have heard The Shield is good and similar to The Wire and a lot of my friends are into True Detective...

The Shield is good, as is Dexter (series 1-5, after that it gets poor). Sons of Anarchy is class.

First 5 series of House. After that, the remaining 3 series' storyline is cool but the individual episodes are iffy.

'House of cards' on Netflix, its best new show Ive seen in the last couple of years, kevin spacy is amazing in it and now that breaking bads ended I think Madmen is easily the best show on tv(though I suppose it depends on what your looking for)

Thanks guys. Leaning towards True Detective as it is the only contemporary one and I would like to start watching something that is on now so I can talk about it. Figure I'll start on House of Cards or The Shield next as they seem a bit more exciting than Mad Men (apologies TJ!) Watching these shows with a friend and he has already seen Dexter and Sons so they are out the window at the minute unfortunately.

TV shows are amazing these days, I never think that I will be able to enjoy another one after each masterpiece finished but they just keep on making such involving and rewarding shows. I heard an interesting speech by Kevin Spacey where he claimed that TV offers a much more involving experience than Hollywood (specifically on Netflix) as there is the time to build a cast of well-developed characters with no fear of alienating sponsors or justifying massive budgets. I think he might be on to something.

And to any of you looking for good comedy check out Arrested Development. It has to be the funniest, cleverest comedy there has been. I have watched each episode countless times and it just keeps on being funny.

Madmen is really exciting! just in a very subtle way(its all in the detail) its the best written, directed and acted show out there i'd say(now that breaking bad has ended, as I say)

ive got 'True detective' lined up to watch, but first I need something a little lighter to cleanse the palette after just getting to the end of 'house of cards' season 2, so ive been watching SOA season6(which is a show that seems to like to think its heavy and hard hitting, when in fact its just ridiculously dump, but still fun)

My guilty pleasure show is Supernatural, its frickin a brilliant(and still going strong after 9 years)

p.s. ive also just watched the first two episodes of the walking dead season 4, it seems that show has really just disintegrated into nothing, don't think ill be bothering with it anymore(shame because I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons)

p.p.s I'm actually really starting to look forward to 24 coming back in a few months, I hope its not crud.

Spartacus yep. Crammed full of intrigue, violence and porn, what more could you want.

Boardwalk Empire is still brilliant though and I would heartily recommend to anyone who hasn't seen any episodes to have a go at it.

I've been meaning to watch Arrested Development for ages just never got round to it, I've seen every episode Curb Your Enthusiasm plenty of times though. It's absolutely brilliant, I'm always preaching it to everyone.

TJ I too gave up on Walking Dead after a couple of episodes of the new season, it is just a bit stale now in my view. Was a great wee run up to the end of the third though.

Donner, Curb is fantastic, I still get a kick out of rewatching em but seriously Arrested Development is on a different plane of existence to any other comedy out there, movie or TV. It's deceptively clever despite having a joke every minute or so and deserves greater recognition; it was cancelled midway through the third series but maintains a cult status. Here's a wee taster
