[Archived] Rumour: Venky's To Sell?

Recommended Posts

If I had discovered and posted this rumour then no doubt many would have piled in poo-pooing.

Maybe thats because of your past posts.

Remember how you were 99% sure Ali Syed was about to take over the club and would lead us to the promised land because he was a billionaire ?

Well yeah, we might not all be believing you about much philipl.......

I believe there are some people who want Venkys to step forward and announce to the media and the fans their intentions, plans and whether they are going to sell the club?

But what if...and I really mean if...their silence is because they are too busy chasing targets, nailing down players and negotiating contracts to pay attention to all these rumors of financial trouble, club-selling and whatever?

Public statements will not alleviate the angst of the twitter generation. And will only pre-empt condescending "We shouldn't be making our budget public" and "They can talk the talk but can they walk the walk" comments.

Making decent squad improving signings is the only way to show their intent

I really hope you're right and they're secretly getting their act together, lining up some good players in secret and letting all the crazy stuff distract others. However, given their previous track record in PR and actions many fans are skeptical (myself included).

Could someone who knows more about football clubs than me let us know what the debt situation will be if they sell?

Is there anything to stop them loading the debt they paid off back onto the club before they sell?

Venky's have spent a significant amount of money to buy the club which I feel does give them the right to make certain decision behind the scenes. In any case, there will be restructuring in any business takeover.

The only thing I can see them being guilty of is being over-ambitious in promising things which they will not be able to deliver.

They cannot be blamed for the Jones sale or Samba wanting to leave.

I believe the minimum they have to do is re-invest the Jones money. If that is done, then I find it hard to believe that we would be relegated.

If you bought a Creme Egg, I'd have no right to tell you how to eat it. I'll be judging them on the results on the pitch!

If you have never eaten a Creme Egg before and then you buy one and tell everyone around you who had previously eaten one to bugger off as you had hired an expert in the eating of the Creme Egg. And then you ignore the advice given by your own experts as you begin to incorrectly eat the egg by sticking it up your nose you are going to look very silly.

Something has gone badly wrong in the last couple of weeks.

Just how wrong is hard to say.

I know the owners are unhappy about several things just now. But I do not know them personally so I can't say how they will react.

IF there was a buyer I am sure they would consider selling.

But I don't see anyone picking up the club just now at a price that would make sense to them.

After the events of the past few weeks I wouldn't rule out anything happening. Crazy days.

JHC!

From day one these people looked totally out of their depth...no smoke without fire lads 'n' lasses!

I guess it all boils down to how they eat there's this summer :D

I'm glad to see that this is all in the public domain.

I don't believe that there is any real doubt left. Venkys do not want us. We have been sold under the guise of magic beans. These magic beans have not even begun to sprout into a mighty beanstalk, quite the opposite. They have started to decay with a stench that is rapidly stretching across whole continents. We are now at the mercy of what their conscience allows. Since the takeover they have been slapped in the face by reality time and time again, over the last week the slap manifested as one final fatal blow.

There are people so blinded by optimism on here that they are incapable of what people have known all along, Venkys are not good for this football club. I don't care, I really don't give a ###### anymore what you think. The reality is that this is the scariest situation the club has ever been in. I genuinely don't care if you believe me.

To all at Venkys:

You know, as well as I do that you have made a cataclysmic error. You are human, it will happen. It has not turned out as you thought it would and for that, we are just as sorry as you are.

However, you must realise that Blackburn Rovers is a living, breathing entity. It is not comparable to any other business. It needs oxygen and whilst you are desperately searching for the best way to save face, the club is gasping for air.

Do the honourable thing, find a suitable buyer (They are out there) and move on.

All the best for the future, but please stick to where your strengths lie.

Venkys bought the club from the Trust. Money spent. Gone. I think it was about £25 million.

Venkys took on the debt, which explains where the Barclays 'mortgage' comes in. I think that was/is about £18 million.

If - and I should stress 'if' - they were selling it would be up to them to get what they could.

Asked a couple of people in the circle of people who buy football clubs if there could be a buyer for Rovers and was greeted with laughter today.

The Trust did well to get rid from their point of view. It took over three years to find somebody clean.

It would be a miracle if somebody else was out there who would pay what Venkys did, including the debt.

Anyone fancy jumping in my time machine?

I have it set for 1994.

Read it and weep fellow Blues.

Where do we go from here

What circle is that? Rothchilds?

I do the funnies...

No. People who have actually been looking for buyers for other clubs in the last year or two. When you mention the figures that were paid to buy Rovers there are sighs of amazement.

This is NOT a time to be looking for new owners.

The amount of people in the know at BRFCS is mind-boggling. I lost count of posters telling to known this for god knows how long, but hadn't just written anything or at best, vague innuendos. I can't imagine Venky's succeeding in any business: their competitors must know Venky's plans inside out if dozens of BRFCS posters do. Hopefully they'll find us a new owner. I just hope they don't fooled by a certain Mr. Syed and his billion dollar check.

Venkys PR man is still peddling the same line i see

I don't know how many times I've said this, but I am not Venkys's PR man. I don't work for Venkys. Hell, I don't work for anybody because I'm still in college! Not even a part-time job, for that matter. Unless you count drawing Japanese comics as a job.

The thing is everyone hears this rumor and are coming out with speculation about new buyers, about Venkys not knowing what they were getting in, etc. I could very well hop on the bandwagon and join you guys in peddling the same old lines about how we want Venkys out, how they are naive/stupid, how they made mistakes. That's probably what you want to hear, isn't it? More Venkys bashing.

But this is a forum. There will be people who have different opinions. And people who disagree with you or have a different point of view does not necessarily mean they work for Venkys. You are entitled your opinion, I have never said you were wrong, nor have I rebutted any of the points here. I was just putting out a possible scenario that might be more positive than everything that everyone else posted here. God knows we need some optimism, no matter how ridiculous, on this forum of doom, gloom and hate. I could be wrong. But there is nothing right now to suggest that I am more wrong than you are because the whole thing are rumors to begin with. In fact I think you could even be right.

Oh, and before I forget - a line from my friend: "Selling the club? No, no, I don't think so. We're staying here for long-term. The higher-ups have a vision and they are trying their best to realize it, but it will take time."

Make of it what you will. I will neither support nor condemn his statement because he is just a low-key supervisor in one of the branches anyway. Nothing to suggest what he hears is absolute fact.

black burn time is something that rovers dont have at the moment. We need to do something drastic now like actually buy a couple of quality players otherwise 'in time' rovers are only going one way and it begins in with 'champ' and its not mixing it with europe's elite.
