[Archived] Rumour: Venky's To Sell?

Recommended Posts

Starting to think this current increase in the number of rumours, coming from all angles with alleged 'sources', is all part of the mole-hunt that was alluded to when the infamous £45/50m 'list' was scrapped.

Seems a bit suss to me that we only had 2/3 members with frequently reliable info, until the exact time it was suggested that Venkys were kicking up a fuss about leaks. Now nearly every bloomin member on here seems to have more insider info than the NoTW probably had on people!

I think it's a combination of the rise of socials networks and the six degrees of separation. Once upon a time what snippets of info I got were infrequent hints from staff members and I never had anyone I trusted enough to pass them on to. Now, through social networking, I've a networks of dozens of people who talk to agents, staff, players, scouts, journalist and doris the cleaner and it doesn't take long to know who has reliable info, so whatever the story there is always somebody in my "circle" who knows what's going on.

I don't have anyone I class as an inside source and 5 years ago I knew nothing. Now I get to hear all sorts. The club leaking stuff hasn't changed, the way the world shares information has.

I just cant seem to justify to myself how getting a family season ticket would benefit if i go home in a bad mood every Saturday when the money could be spent on my family having days out every weekend and actually enjoying themselves, its not a decision i have taken lightly. I've renewed my season ticket for the past 6 years. Its not like im turning my back on the club I will always be a rovers supporter and you can bet i will have one eye on score center on my phone when im out on a Saturday.

So if putting my family before Rovers is self indulgence then im guilty as charged :P

I can understand where you're coming from, absolutely.

For me, my first season ticket was our first season in Division One. I remember City going up on the last day and invading the pitch at the end. The stewards gave up and I went onto the pitch with the adult who took me to games. He tentatively asked me if I still wanted to come back next season. There was no question. Nothing else I could think about doing on a Saturday afternoon. Following season we went up; season after that League Cup win. Last game of the following season, I remember it being rife that Duff was leaving and it took us until his last game to come up with a bloody chant.

I moved away after and haven't lived close enough to have a season ticket since.

Maybe you're right about dragging your kids to football on a Saturday being a bad thing. Maybe you could bond more productively elsewhere. But, for me, heading to Ewood with loved ones for those few seasons every other Saturday and the odd Wednesday night, created a lifelong bond with something I really care about; my club.

Please, think carefully about your choice.

Bang on the money Glenn!

Ive been lucky that one or two people i got to know, knew people in the know (confused much yet? lol) but through that, Ive met others and like you say, you get to know the reliable ones.

With regard to talking to others, imagine if ths was happening 10-15 years ago and with the info I got this morning. between us over on VB we have pretty much managed to determine what was tosh, what was genuine and even gleaned a little more, jsut by running it by others in less than 24 hours.

you would still be chasing shadows no more clear or closer to the truth without t'internet.

Oh, I havent forgotten, if by the end of the window, the player who made the retirement remark has not joined us, I will name him, i wont be spilling before that!

I don't think i was being too clear myself. I just meant that good players generate interest by playing well. The need for someone to actively sell our players would surely be put to better use getting the likes og Grella, Goulon, Andrews etc... off the books. Anyway, its seems they are sending Delhi Boy over here soon, so we'll see what he gets up to soon enough.

Maybe this MR. Wolf character can take this list of 'deadwood' players and sell them to the nascent Indian Premiership clubs. Andrews might even be the Irish Maradona down there

ffs yesterday I post on the protest or not debate thread that we should be careful about taking action the next day the players refuse to go to India and Venkys kick of my worst case scenario.. wtf

Lets pray that they don't do the other half of an asset stripping opperation and don't touch property based sales.

Got to say though, not suprised Venkys main aim with Rovers was to make them a big club in India, the players refusing to go must of been a MASSIVE blow to them.. madness to the extreme.

Hoping this is just a scare tactic from them though.. release false redundancy info to shut people up (seen it done before to shut up disruptive employees).

While its is a dent to Venkys that the players refused to go to India, its not a killer blow. The first things Venkys need to do is to get Rovers games off pay sat TV(ESPN and StarSports) and on to free to air Indian TV. This would be a massive coup for Rovers and Venkys or who ever will be our sponsor next year.

Beginning to think that Venkys are so deluded that next season they will be sponsoring the shirt themselves for free... shortly followed by HUGE shirt sales as half of blackburn burn the shirt outside the ground due to the Venkys logo.

I would think there is a possibility that Rovers could end up with Venkys as sponsors this could well blow a big hole in the Rovers budget thou :(

I doubt the world of information sharing has changed much in the last month though, which is the timeframe I'm referring to.. Unless by change you mean become more prevalent, and conflicting?

And your response only really supports the proposition that fake rumours can be created, shared and spread very easily by the owners if they wanted to find out what Doris and co have been up to.

I'm not doubting the intent of the posters, or their sources, but not all of these theories can be true as many conflict with others in some/many aspects - so at least one of them is being fed duff info from a previously reliable source

Well, who else do you think is going to sponsor a club in such turmoil and disarray as ours is at the moment?? Would you want your products associated with this farce? I think not.

I think you may have misunderstood my post. I was trying to say what I believe a football supporter is. Putting your family before Rovers is of course always right. But if a person supports a football club and are able to afford to go, are able to go without hindering things such as family and work commitments, then I suggest they should do their upmost to go and support their football club.

So, what you're saying Zaccacius is that Venky's have contracted Winston Wolf?

Is this new indian fellow also mopping the halls at Rovers' Administrative offices???

With all those bloody chickens, the last thing Venkys would want is a wolf on board!!!

I doubt many if any posters put up material which is totally made up.

The business about an agent being appointed to sell and buy (in that order) first surfaced on 8 July after the Kentaro fall out. Since then we have had the on/off India trip and the "about this overdraft for which the security has expired" phone call from Barclays.

I don't think anybody is denying that the Venky's have had a long delayed meeting with reality over the past five weeks and are tempering it with trying desperately not to see that the the Trust, JW and TF were absolutely correct in their management approach and that they, the Raos, have been utterly deluded.

Worse still, there has still been no attempt even now by the Rao family to get any sort of grip.

They are diletante semi-detached owners making uneducated guesses from 5,000 miles away.

When you have such a dawning realisation with one revelation after another, the one thing that is all but impossible is calm consistent decision making (look at how the Murdoch scandal is playing).

You get utterly confused leadership, attempts at making authoritative statements which look ridiculous when shortly overtaken by results.

Anybody who has any contact with Rovers or Venky's will of course get concerned and want to find out more. And when the leadership- the Raos- are patently completely confused and out of control- more and more people will talk.

So stories emerge- more and more of them.

And many of the stories (but by no means all) hit this MB but the one thing we are rarely told is WHEN the stories were heard or originated. So we not only hear that there is disorder and confusion, which there is, but stories which were true at the time of telling have been overtaken by events and end up looking ridiculous.

#rovers fans, whats happening at club? hearing nasty rumours.

Perhaps the drips over the dam are beginning and the national media is beginning to take note.

At the same time, the Parliamentary Report into football draws closer which as I have commented before, will make the Rao style of management impossible.

"The final CMS report is expected in the next 10 days, possibly as soon as Friday if the committee had time to discuss the final draft after yesterday’s headline-grabbing interrogation of Rupert and James Murdoch and Rebekah Brooks.

Following publication Robertson will begin discussions with the football authorities over which recommendations he would like them to pursue before the autumn."

From Steve Kean "It is a budget that we will try to stretch and get as many quality players in as we can" of course the article started with "STEVE Kean has assured Blackburn Rovers fans he does have a ‘sizeable’ budget to spend this summer as he moved quickly to calm growing frustrations among the Ewood Park faithful."

So which one is it?
