Taggart Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 it is.. like i said.. he's incorrect. misleading and says "kean met the owners yesterday" when he didnt. like i say Cryer and the LET need to be sure what they print is correct. think of all those rovers fans without the internet.. who rely on them for the correct info. can you not see my point ? Yes, i see your point Zac, but he was meant to go yesterday, but was the flight not cancelled ? hence what Cryer wrote was correct at the time of writing potentially ? I know where you are coming from, but I`m not too bothered about when Kean goes to Pune, but more about the outcome of the meeting and what Rovers are goign to do to plug the holes on the leaking ship

Taggart Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 But how do you the outcome of the meeting will be reported correctly? Story of this transfer window thus far BKR - we don`t unfortunatley, i`m sure it will be conflicting stories but at least we may have a slight insight.

Zacc, you are jumping at very minor details. Is it not established that they had a conference call yesterday? I must admit I could not care less if they had a call or if they met up. What's the big difference for us? The important thing is what is said at the meeting and what is supposed to happen in the coming few weeks, not the time schedule of a plane to India.
glen9mullan Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Not sure where to put this as i'm still trying to navigate the site, so sorry if in wrong thread. With us set to play our first significant friendly (i.e On Tv) on Wednesday and the Asia trophy being used as a marketing tool, This is not looking good. Venkys bring their product significantly weaker than the product they bought to the watchful eyes of the world and the Asia Market and this could go all Pete Tong on us if we can't sort out the in-house squabbling. No new signings YET, plenty of hot air wild goose chases, pulling plug on deals to date You can't take a product to market if you aint done your market research, and first impressions have a lasting effect on peoples minds. Is this Asia cup going to turn out as a really bad idea, and have the opposite effect on the club than the owners would have wanted. After all if you went marketing glass hammers round the world, there would not be too much interest, Not being able to cut into the rewards of other countries, may leave lasting damage if they suddenly decide, well that didnt work, where is the exit door?

The point is if point 1 is complete fabrication, how do we know point 2 and 3 are true. hawkiiz Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 The point is if point 1 is complete fabrication, how do we know point 2 and 3 are true. Huh? My point is that the whole discussion is pointless.
BangkokRover Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Huh? My point is that the whole discussion is pointless. Guess it depends on if you think the LET is a respected news source or not?
hawkiiz Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Guess it depends on if you think the LET is a respected news source or not? I do. What news is it really if they had a call or actually met up, when they are supposed to meet up anyway. It's it very minor details in all this mess. IMO.

In short the squad is weaker than it was last season, probably far too under-prepared for this stage of the pre=season and the results/performance in Hong Kong could become embarassing. The last time Mrs D assembled a very expensive party was the game at OT and we know what happened then. Here's hoping this post of mine acts as a lucky token and Rovers actually do themselves proud in HK.
Backroom DE. Posted July 22, 2011 Backroom Posted July 22, 2011 If Kalinic is sold won't our forward line in the HK/Asia Tournament consist of Roberts and Blackman? Possibly Junior as well. If Venky's choose not to invest in us they will pay the price - the team as it stands will probably get destroyed in the asia cup, and relegation is a very distinct possibility with our current squad. The sad thing is we as fans will pay the price for Venky's incompetence as well, and we don't deserve that.

Well we do beat Chelsea and Villa all the time, so there is no reason to why we could not win the cup.

Ricky Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 To be fair Phil, yes we are weaker. But so are Villa, and Chelsea also haven't signed anyone yet have they? So whilst I agree with what you are saying fully I don't think it's too much of an issue at this stage. It WILL be an issue if it's the same situation come the start of the season.

Yes but the Rao family and several hundreds of guests are going to be in HK at Venky's expense and won't be at Ewood for the Wolves game. So looking through the Pune end of the telescope, which is more important/ potentially embarassing?

A view I've held since the season ended Ricky also. But the rumblings of free transfers and little money to replace possibly departing players, even has me worried now They can still turn whats been a shambolic tenure so far into a success, but the manager needs money and quick. Good to see you're still hanging in their mate! Once again, fully agree with you. Some unexpected events have taken place (banks) and that has wasted another week. However, it only takes a few days to sign up players and get the fans backing instantly. Also see that an Academy Doc has been appointed. So they are slowly but surely replacing the departed.

SirLarsIII Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 The only players we really miss is JJ and PJ. A DM that is. The other departed players will noy be missed by me - but of course we need new squad players. But Formica and Rochina migth turn out to be a revalation in the asia cup. Didnt really show up last year. And Andrews and Nzonzi will fill the DM at the time being. But would love Honda and Cisse...and felt we could have got Witsel. Ohh well. But we usually lose to Chelsea and Villa anyway...hope it will demonstate to Desai that we need investments.

I was impressed with linganzi last weekend. only seen him twice, carling cup and a friendly, but yeah... he looked a decent DM.
BangkokRover Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Could be a blessing in disguise, if we get hammered in HK How??? Will it not makes us look an even bigger joke?
Gav Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 How??? Will it not makes us look an even bigger joke? Getting hammered in front of the owners may promt them into action, don't you think?
cruz Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Getting hammered in front of the owners may promt them into action, don't you think? Getting back on topic, do you mean prompt them "To sell"?
