Amo Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Getting hammered in front of the owners may promt them into action, don't you think? Sacking a manager over a pre-season result would make us look an even bigger farce.

gumboots Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Sacking a manager over a pre-season result would make us look an even bigger farce. Depends on the result. Lose one or two nil to Chelsea but look quite good - yes. Get hammered 6-0 by Villa - no.
Amo Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Depends on the result. Lose one or two nil to Chelsea but look quite good - yes. Get hammered 6-0 by Villa - no. It's immaterial. Likewise, beating Villa 6-0 doesn't mean Venky's should crack open the champagne. Pre-season is pre-season, the results have no bearing on our competitive football.
Gav Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Sacking a manager over a pre-season result would make us look an even bigger farce. I never said sack the manager, how about lacing his palms with silver like they promised, that would be a start.
Taggart Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I was impressed with linganzi last weekend. only seen him twice, carling cup and a friendly, but yeah... he looked a decent DM. Anything filtering out from the Pune pow wow yet Zac - is it gray or white smoke rising from the Vatican, oops sorry, from Pune Palace

Pre-season is pre-season, the results have no bearing on our competitive football. Not the results alone but the performance levels and the way the players bond, respond to the manager, follow his instructions etc do. It sets the tone for a season. If they scked Kean it wouldn't be just about the result would it. It would be about a whole raft of other things too, or at leasst that could well be how it would be perceived by those outside the club, who can't understnad why he's still there anyway
cn174 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Depends on the result. Lose one or two nil to Chelsea but look quite good - yes. Get hammered 6-0 by Villa - no. That'd require us to beat Villa and get into the final first!!! (Of course presuming Chelsea do not get beat by Kitchee!)
Amo Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I never said sack the manager, how about lacing his palms with silver like they promised, that would be a start. Ah, well people were comparing this to Sam's dismissal. It's a sorry state if that's what it takes for Venky's to back the club. Obviously, it's nice to get a good pre-season under your belt, but it's rarely a precursor of league form. I also see little point sacking Kean now. More upheaval at the club and more recruitment needed, when we should be focused on finding new players.
BangkokRover Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I also see little point sacking Kean now. More upheaval at the club and more recruitment needed, when we should be focused on finding new players. and more money(for Keans compo), ah that's not a problem as we have lots of that.
gumboots Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 That'd require us to beat Villa and get into the final first!!! (Of course presuming Chelsea do not get beat by Kitchee!) hadn't even looked at how the tournament was set up - that's how little interest I have in the games or the outcome this season. All I meant was that if you put in a decent performance against the best team in the tournament but lost to them by an odd goal or two, yes, it would look very odd to everyone if you sacked the manager. However, if you got hammered without scoring by a team who have themselves lost several of their players and appointed a manager who has 2 relegations in 3 seasons on his cv then it would perhaps look less odd (and might even seem to be one of the few sensible things the owners have done) to sack him. Preseason may not tell you a lot about what will happen when the league starts but it can give a lot of pointers to things not being right.
bob fleming Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Will posted the above in The Transfer Thread. However it has subsequently been removed, probably due to the high volume of posts in that thread. Either way it's probably better in here. Hopefully this graphic will be included in the next BRFCS Podcast for Venky's to consider.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Bloody hell just reading the last few pages of this really brings home what a complete farce this football club has become. Will our club actually remember to start the season at home to Wolves?......... Shambles. There may be trouble ahead, but while there's Mrs Desai,Balaji and Venkatesh,Love and Raomance ...lets face the music and dance!!
Backroom DE. Posted July 22, 2011 Backroom Posted July 22, 2011 Wolves must be delighted at the moment that we're their first game...
BangkokRover Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Wolves must be delighted at the moment that we're their first game... Doubt they are looking forward to playing Roberts and Benjani to be honest

Black Burn Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Don't get me wrong, I am not defending Venkys (they haven't done anything for me to be able to defend them yet), but many people seem to think our problems will just disappear or be solved if Venkys sell the club or if they chase Venkys out. For starters, if you guys really want Venkys to sell the club, look for a buyer who's willing to buy the club. Chanting "Venkys out" won't find us any buyers, and may possibly scare away potential buyers because they will end up perceiving that whenever there's a failure they will be chased out. I'm not saying Venkys is awesome or doing great at the moment. You want to protest, go ahead. Hold demonstrations. Sit outside their London branch. But chasing them out is not a practical solution. Debts won't disappear and players won't sign for Blackburn just because Venkys got chased out. We won't be able to hire a decent manager just because Venkys are gone. Let's think of more practical solutions, like I don't know, demonstrate outside their office or something? Or at least look for a potential buyer and convincing him to buy the club before chanting "Venkys out"? Some people suggested that the fans pitch in and buy the club from Venkys and run it themselves (a fan-run club like in Brazil, they claim). I would like to ask a question, after you raised enough funds to buy our club from Venkys, how are you going to run the club and get new players? Are you going to start raising funds again so that we can afford new players? Venkys are here to stay, like it or not. If they're screwing up, we should do something about it. But chasing them out is not the solution.
roversnick Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 would anybody be kind enough to summarise whats been going on today (if anything) to save me reading tens of pages?

As you dont appear to live here in the UK, I must point out to you that the majority of people in professional Football here class Venkys as, 'Deluded', 'two butties short of a picnic', 'two goals short of a hat trick' and dont rust them one little bit!! If you think differently, get on the next space shuttle with Mrs D to the moon and bring us all some green cheese back!! I must tell you this one, our lovely lttle lady owner thought Walls of Jericho was a bloody sausage factory

I must tell you this one, our lovely lttle lady owner thought Walls of Jericho was a bloody sausage factory You misunderstand me...I didn't say I think differently. I said, if the need for a solution arises, we need to think about how to solve the problem, and chasing Venkys out will not solve the problem. No matter how deluded, incompetent or whatever they are, kicking them out won't make our club debt-free (if we were in debt), sign new players and survive relegation next season. You want to kick them out, at least find a potential buyer before chanting "Venkys out". Otherwise you're just making empty threata against them, and they know it. So why not sit down and think of a more practical solution?

You misunderstand me, we will struggle to get a top manager and top players with these clowns in charge, football clubs wont work with people like that, Mrs D may be respected in India, but not here, she is thought of in a very poor light here. Believe me, there are buyers out there, waiting for Venkys to lose a real packet and then buy the club for virtually nothing!! Unfortunately when Venkys have finished with the club, it will be in a bigger state than Pearl Harbour when the Japs left it!!
