[Archived] Rumour: Venky's To Sell?

Recommended Posts

I really believe venkys are good people and want what's best for rovers but they just haven't got a clue how to go about it. Hopefully they are learning and realised the mistakes they've made . The time to judge will no doubt be on 1st of sept

We've all been hoping they could learn but I suspect in football matters they have real learning difficulties.

1st Sept is far too late to judge them - we are then stuck with the playing staff we have or don't have till Jan 1st when it's notoriously hard to persuade clubs to sell you their players unless you are prepared to spend a fortune. If we don't have a halfway decent squad in place by the start of the season we are sinking without a trace this season. Signings, not brilliant ones but adequate ones, need to be made in the next week to 2 weeks or the owners will have been judged and found wanting on all fronts. In the last 2 weeks of the window clubs buy players they have wanted all along but have been mucking about waiting for the price to fall. They buy the final piece of a jigsaw that is all but finished. They buy a player who is suddenly availabel at a price you can't refuse like van der Vaart last year. Or they panic buy at over the top prices and get landed with players they don't want and haven't researched properly. The latter is not the category we want to fall into.

Anyway, off on my hols today and not back till after that transfer window slams shut so, although I'll no doubt be reading occasionally, this is my last post for a long time. Final message to Venkys - get your act together and either sell or invest in some decent players and staff. This is our club and you are just custodians of a great heritage. Don't ruin it.

This actually the most damning post about Venky's imaginable.

Rovers are a £60m turnover operation with global reach.

You don't put bumbling village idiots in charge and after 8 months of mayhem hope they might have learnt something.

Their appointments in the last two days rather suggest that they have retreated deeper into their idiot mentality.

Ripley, is your name a reference to Ellen Ripley from the Aliens series? Just curious.

Isn't it because they already have their own officials and don't need others?

I thought officials are different from players. Unlike players who come and go and transfer to bigger clubs, officials stay for the long term?

Or is the management structure different from what I've thought?

Oh yes, so you are a football expert? I think you have simply created an elaborate front to hide who you really are.

Yes officials at excellent clubs stay for the long term. That is why our club has now been reduced to a pile of poo.

you really haven't been a Rovers fan for very long, have you?

Whilst in principle football is football, the PL is a world apart from a lot of Championship clubs, let alone League 2. Although I can imagine Venkys thinking along the same lines as you.

You never know though, they might find a diamond in the rough but they are gambling again and bringing in an Indian marketing guru to find cheap staff is definitely thinking outdide the box, I'll give them that!

I hope someone has mentioned to them about the transfer window closing at the end of August because they don't seem to be grasping how everything works and I'd hate for any further embarrassment.

This is Ali Merchant's busiiness home page

As you gasp in awe at its amazing sophistication, remember this is a marketing company.

League 2 is perhaps too sophisticated and big ticket for this guy's level.

WOW that is a great site puts many other media companies to shame.

Just thank goodness we don't have IMG looking after us.

I would agree, they remind me of Jethro in the Beverley Hillbillies and Ali Merchants Website is third world stuff, a 9 year old could have produced better, I am amazed that Venkys arent learning.

Our once proud club becomes more of a joke by the day.

Just seen an interview on ssn of venkys and kean and everything looks fine and dandy to me. I think everyone needs to chill a bit and not listen to the scaremongering mongrels on this M B

I also saw the interview with Venky's and Kean. I agree, they seem like really nice genuine people. Any family that builds a temple for their community and gives away 25,000 free meals a day to poor people really deserves a bit of respect, however we Rovers fans are genuinely worried about how the club is being run at the moment.

I don't think the majority of us fans think Venky's are out to ruin this club but that is the direction it seems to be going at the moment and it doesn't look like changing, no matter what we read in the papers or see on the TV. A club the size of Blackburn, playing in one of the best leagues in the world, needs to be run by people who are experienced in running a sports team, not experts in the chicken industry.

I'd love to see them turn it around, everybody would, but until we start seeing all this talk turn into action then most fans will continue to voice their disapproval at how the club is being run.

this club has been on a downward spiral since Venkys and kean forced John Williams out of the club. Why they just did'nt let John run the club on a day to day basis i will never ever know and now they have finally realised the mistake they made and are trying to fix it, just a shame they did'nt realise this a few months back and got on there hands and kness and begged John to come back. Untill we have a proper chairman and management structure we are in big big trouble.

Well from today articles in the sunday people it looks like the owners are looking for CEO and a director of Football operations . Hopefully these appointments will improve rovers on and off the field. We need a strong appointment as CEO and very experience DoF to help Kean if he is going to stay on as manager.

And now M & S turned into an extremely successful franchise.

Franchise?

You need to do more homework before your bosses let you loose on this site my friend.

One day in 1991, two advertising professionals, Munawar Syed and Ali Merchant, decided to meld their varied experiences to fill a lacuna for many clients - Integrated Marketing Solutions. Not offshoot of agencies to capitalise on client requirements, but a group of companies manned by specialists to ensure the most effective solutions.

Above, a quote from Ali Merchants website - is this as good as your employers can find Black Burn?

No matter who they appoint their talent and time will be wasted if everything is going to be micro managed in Pune.

You say you have been a Rovers fan for over 10 years? So, not long after the title win of 1995. Now if it was me I would have known the PL winning team off by heart.

I wasn't even born in 1966, yet I know the England World Cup XI.

We need to be run by people who have a lot of nouse but also deeply care about Blackburn Rovers Football Club.

Not something run as a side show or hobby, or even worse a penis extension.

We all know that a balance of new ideas and experience can work extremely well but having jettisoned all of our experience (and affiliation to the club) in every department except the tea lady (as far as I know she's still there), Venkys need to be sure that this latest idea us the one that arrests the decline.

If it doesn't... I'm not sure where they go next.

...and now they have finally realised the mistake they made and are trying to fix it...

Howz, sorry if I've missed it. Where have they admitted this (obvious) mistake and what steps have they taken to fix it? Appointing Steve Wood (replacing a Football Agency with a Football Agent) bringing in Ali Marchant? Wow! at least we’ll not have any unfilled lacunas anymore. I’ll get the champagne.

Black Burn – do me a favour. “I’m so green and naive. I don’t really understand all this, please don’t misconstrue what I’m saying, I’m not sure myself what I’m trying to say, if you understand me, which I'm not sure you do. I’m not supporting the Venky’s, at least I don’t think I am, although every post I make does defend them, I guess”. Are you the Japanese Hugh Grant?

Their offices include Pune so assume they are friends of Raos.

So as Zac said a successful businessman with experience-but not football.

Did you look at that cardboard cut-out sham of a web site? Did you click on any of the buttons?

Are you really as dumb as you pretend to be?

I'm leaving.

You are right. I am completely clueless.

I expressed an opinion on how I thought things went, and I get slammed for believing that I am a "football expert". Using terms like "I think" have been futile because people ignore my statements "if I'm wrong please enlighten me" and continue to slam me for "pretending to be an expert".

I have not defended Venkys at all, but bob fleming claims that I am. I wonder which part of my sentences is actually defending the Venkys. But it seems that whatever I say will be construed as Venkys defending, so I see no point in saying anything anymore.

I am a stooge for thinking Ellen Ripley ahead of Stuart Ripley. I also happen to be a science-fiction horror fan, which is why the first Ripley that popped into my mind was Ellen Ripley instead. But since I'm a stooge who can't even supposedly remember the name of legendary football players, I don't deserve to be a Blackburn fan. I understand, I get the message.

I have also proved that I am not a fan by supposedly defending Venkys.

I have lost my right to post in this messageboard, and I apologize for offending everyone with my posts here. I should have stayed a lurker, maybe I wouldn't have antagonized so many people if I did.

Then again, being an unknowledgable stooge I believe I have lost even my right to lurk around here.

Goodbye, and good day to you all.

I hope things get better and you guys get what you want (whether it's Venkys selling the club, replacing Kean), and are happier without me around "playing Venkys PR".

Do you recall Venkys website? It was poorer than that.

You previously asked a question about whether the new agent would report to Ali Merchant- my suggestion ask your numerous sources. I have based what I have said on Zac who IMO certainly has a lot of credibility after breaking several stories. I said 'successful businessman' any evidence to counter, or was it a sign on the SSN interview this morning that informed you FFS.

Ah yes, I do remember their website. Venkys have been such a success for us, I can clearly see why you have used them as a comparison to calm fears.

These new guys look like a couple of PR degree students that have set up a one page site for a project.

Venky's website was poorer than that. But then, should we really be using Venky's as a benchmark of anything?

I can't really pass judgement on whether it is a successful business or not, all I've seen is their unimpressive website. Actually their website doesn't appear to work properly. Weird.

In any case, trying to get a chief executive from a League 2 club shows how hopelessly out-of-touch an indian with no football experience is. He's probably been told to go for the very cheapest option.

We're heading for the championship now, of that I'm certain. I just cannot believe how thick these people are. They may as well just take a hatchet to the boardroom and finish the job off good and proper because they are wrecking this club.

Anyone saying otherwise is in denial.

Come on BPF, all i said was

1. They are probably mates with Raos as they have an office in Pune.

2. Based on a glance on the web page a successful businessman- which is what Zac said, whose info has been right more often than not- any further details on Ali Merchant?

How else do the 90% of people with no sources supposed to make their minds up on here, signs on Walls? Body language of people?

Bryan- I am confident of survival next year and that is not because I am in denial but based on simple reasoning that the three promoted clubs are weaker than us and there are two or three weaker teams currently in the pl too. The rest of your post-I agree with a lot of it.
