[Archived] Rumour: Venky's To Sell?

Recommended Posts

Whatever you think about the current state of affairs, you have to respect what Nelsen, our club captain says.

Even though commonsence says that he is not permitted to anything contrary to the owners / manager / club etc. I respect the players, but I treat all such interviews with a pinch of salt. This has nothing to do with the state the club is in or how I feel towards the owners / manager etc.

He would have been asked to make that interview - which he could not say no to. He would have been told to give a positive interview about the club.

This is something I would expect all players to do, no matter what club they play for.

Well pafell if things were on the verge of a crisis surely he would of said something. Jose Enrique of Newcastle as come out and attacked newcastles board for selling all top players and replacing them with cheap foreign imports. So I don't buy that theyre paying is wages stuff . Players who do care will stand up and say if there was a crisis especially someone like nelsen. I trust him anyway whole heartedly

The point is of the interivew to have patience, ofcourse take it with a pinch of salt but lets support the club until 31st August when we know for sure if they earnt our respect.

All he is asking is that people stop being so negative and expecting everything yesterday.

Other then go out and waste 7 million on a another Grabbi, there is not much more they can do or ask of you.

Sure we will purchase.

I never believed the "they don't have money" rumour and time will tell.

I have absolutely no doubt that Ryan Nelsen means every word he says - he's that type of guy. He may well believe that the Rao family want what's best for the club. He may well believe that Kean is a decent bloke who has the potential to become a good manager. I have no doubt that Ryan is totally sincere in what he says.

However, does that mean that I'm convinced that the Venky's have been good for the club thus far? Certainly not. I look at it for a life-long fan's perspective and I have seen little so far to convince me that this mob have the first idea about how to run a football club and that includes the manager.

Ultimately, time will tell if our club captain is correct or not and if he is I will gladly hold my hands up and say I was wrong. However, with less than three weeks to the start of the season I can see no reason for optimisim either on the field or off it. We have two players in seemingly open revolt, we have a captain who's looking to move elsewhere and we have our most promising youngster - actually our second most promising youngster as the first one has already been sold - still to sign a contract. We have the bank waiting to collect any loose change that comes from sales and we have a number of vacancies in the administrative department to fill. Our playing squad is considerably down in both quality and quantity on last season, a campaign in which we only escaped relegation on the final day. While everything else may be mere speculation the fact remains that there is enough here to derail the best run club and that is something that Blackburn Rovers most certainly are not.

So, are these new appointments the result of:

a] the new owners bringing in their own people - as always happens in takeovers,

or

b] the new owners realising that they have dropped an almighty bollock by forcing well respected and proven people out of the club - and are now trying to plug the gaps with anyone they can find?

YESTERDAY?!

Are you taking the ###### son?

Yeah, no rush, we don't want it immediately, just one or two players in the next 6 weeks. They've just been practising for the last 6 weeks with this transfer business. The Pavone thing was like a try-before-you-buy, a dummy run. Of course we didn't actually want him, because really we'll be signing someone really good. Like Witsel.

My understanding - I'm maybe wrong - of the situation about money is. Unless the owners sort something out with the banks and debt. Any money they put into the club, would be snatched up by the banks to pay off the debts. Therefore until that debt is paid, there would be no money to pay for transfers. But if the owners paid off the debt, then put additional money into the club, then we MAY see some activity in the transfer market.

So first and foremost the debt has to be dealt with - either by payment or with an agreement with the banks. Until then, its a stand off situation. Banks get their money, we move on. If they don't , we won't.

Uplifting interview and I decide to trust Ryan Nelsen more than all the insiders that the players are happy and we should be patient.

I've no doubt the players are happy. The problem is most aren't good enough.

b Den. Not anyone though, just the cheapest options.

Our only two signings with a fee in jan window happened on the 31st last minute

You can cry and moan all you want but the window is far from over.

Our club captain has asked for support and patience I guess you have only two choices

Regrding Nelsen's interview: He's always sucked up to whoever suits him. He was pro Hughes, pro Ince, pro Allardyce, pro Kean and now, pro Venky's. I'd take what him and most other players say with a bucket of salt.

Nelsen's past his best and getting on a bit so he's bound to say whatever necessary for the sake of self-preservation.

Not to say he hasn't been a decent player for us, though.

I seem to recall that Nelsen was extremely outspoken about his feelings regarding Sam's sacking. It was a rare breath of fresh air to hear a club captain speak so frankly. I also expect him to be loyal and supportive of the club in the midst of adversity but he is a model of integrity and his interview was encouraging. If he says the players are happy then I believe him.

I remember him saying how great Ince was so I wouldn't believe much of what he says, especially as we have seen (Please don't use that word again) all to suggest he is telling the truth in relation to the owners we have now.

The fact that he says the club is in the best condition it has been since he's been here (coming up to 7 years) also shows he's talking out of his arse. The club is being torn apart and dragged through the mud.

He's at the end of his career and we've given him enough money to sort him out so why doesn't he at least stop lying, or even better publicly criticize the owners for what they are doing? It's not as if the fans would turn on him for that is it?

Sooner or later, Venky's will learn to stick to the chickens.

The Venky's excuse brigade were busy trying to support the argument that Venky's are richer than their 54% stake in a rather small publicly listed Indian company with a volatile share price might suggest by pointing out the Rao family's significant stake in Lavasa- a new city being built outside Pune.

Lavasa has been declared illegal as India progressively steps up environmental regulation. as this article just posted by the BBC shows.

You do realise he said simular about Paul Ince. You keep going on about the transfer window. The situation at the club is not just about transfers in or out of the club.

The club is being run very very badly by these owners. Transfers is a different issus altogether.

You've lost me here - cannot see any link to venkys in the article.

You are twisting things- again.

You said Balaji put 49 million of his own cash into an account to purchase one player- how much money does Venkatesh Hatcheries make-their biggest company?

Getting embarrassing Phillip, I am still waiting for a response to the question: which major Indian businesses find Venkys embarrassing as you stated as fact yesterday.

The Venky's are investors in Lavasa- it usually gets trotted out to prove how wealthy they are.

And imy, you are having a joke aren't you? I have given you the numbers at least four times.

And imy, you are having a joke aren't you? I have given you the numbers at least four times.

1. Where has Balaji got 49 million from to purchase one player ? Does he look like the sort of bloke who would put his life savings on the line for one player?

2. Where did the Raos get 23 million from to purchase Rovers?

3. They feed 30k people a day, give millions of pounds to charities every year-where is the money coming from?

4. 20 million plus in cars-Balaji where did he get the money from?

5. Over 100 million in cash shown above- that's what my few clicks of google found (did not include millions in Lavasa project). Now biggest question, they own 54% of Venkys India that makes about 10 million profit a year? 5 million profit a year would mean twenty years of saving for the above- can you explain this?

Chris, i have to disagree.

If we had owners that had not tried to throw money at stupid marquee signings, and then listen to Mrs D come out and say that we would have two new players within two weeks (said over three weeks ago) and even our manager saying he had substantial funds available, i would agree with you.

Its no wonder that the fans are negative - none of the above has happened yet.

Me, I wont 'cry and moan all I want' ( but thanks for permission to do so) - I am simply very very underwhelmed so far.
