jim mk2 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Again, nothing to write about. There is just a rumour... No quotes, no soundbites. It would be made up of filler text and probably wouldn't get past the editor! Look at previous posts from the Mirror reporter and the quick-changing events at the club with regards to the attitude of Venky's towards their ownership of the club which might explain their about-turn over player signings. It sound to me there is a story to be written. Would have thought you'd need to know of an intended buyer who was in talks with Venkys before you could go ahead with such a story. Why ? Venky's having a change of heart and wanting to sell is a good story - if correct of course. A good news editor would tell him to write it.
BuckyRover Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Aye because the Mirror is gospel! I wonder if he is busy hacking voicemails
adsfortheblues Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Damn good point, not really sure there are many, if any truly skilful or 'good' owners, merely owners with larger amounts of money to throw away than ours. The fact that they are reluctant to pay the fees expected for players and the baggage that comes with them, allied with their stance over the jones deal suggests they are better 'business' people than most premier league owners in many respects. That said, it doesn't help rovers much as moral 'points' won't keep us up next season Why is that a good point? What is said there is obvious. End of the day venkys aren't going to sell, we will sign a couple of strikers who will accumulate around 20 goals between them, a defensive midfielder, a couple of average defenders and will finish around 12th place.
leerovers1980 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 He doesn't work for the Daily Mail well every player he has put on here this transfer window hasn't come to anything, i bet if i wrote about 50 storys im bound to get one right sooner or later
promoted2001 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 I wonder if he is busy hacking voicemails That was Murdochs brigade, not trinity mirror
broadsword Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 well every player he has put on here this transfer window hasn't come to anything, i bet if i wrote about 50 storys im bound to get one right sooner or later Think you're barking up the wrong tree with that one!
Kelbo Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Why is that a good point? What is said there is obvious. End of the day venkys aren't going to sell, we will sign a couple of strikers who will accumulate around 20 goals between them, a defensive midfielder, a couple of average defenders and will finish around 12th place. I wish I could share such optimism, 12th place? You should put some money on that one, the odds would be good!!
BuckyRover Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 That was Murdochs brigade, not trinity mirror Allegedly, one of the private investigators involved was working for more than one tabloid and not only News international. Allegedly
JoeBlueWhite Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Look at previous posts from the Mirror reporter and the quick-changing events at the club with regards to the attitude of Venky's towards their ownership of the club which might explain their about-turn over player signings. It sound to me there is a story to be written. No one is standing by sources. So there is no story. So in doing so they are doing massive damage to our club. Thats why I think this thread is one of the most dangerous ever posted on this forum and a massive, massive mistake by the moderators. They will not stand by this. Its such they are saying "we heard a rumour, it might be true, why don't you all discuss it. We might have some evidence we might not" All of it is devastating to our club.
promoted2001 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 well every player he has put on here this transfer window hasn't come to anything, i bet if i wrote about 50 storys im bound to get one right sooner or later I do believe the owners have eyes bigger than their bellies and have had to scale things back a bit.
nicko Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Nicko, do you think this helps Blackburn Rovers in any way ? I doubt you have spoke to everyone on the planet thinking of buying Premiership team but... How is this helping ? you must know reporting that kind of thing even here hurts Blackburn Rovers badly. You don't even know if their is 100% truth in that we are selling. What the **** are you on? I was checking into the possibility of any buyers being out there with people who buy clubs for a living. You might have missed it but I have been chasing buyers for football clubs - yours in particular - for quite some time now.
cruz Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 I do believe the owners have eyes bigger than their bellies and have had to scale things back a bit. Yet another unconfirmed report by Nicko. Smoke and mirrors. There's a lot of it about
PAFELL Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Maybe thats because of your past posts. Remember how you were 99% sure Ali Syed was about to take over the club and would lead us to the promised land because he was a billionaire ? Well yeah, we might not all be believing you about much philipl....... Don't you understand that there is a thing called discretion. People not wanting for obvious reasons, revealing the source of the information. Also even when they hear something, they have to hold back and give little hints. I am not in business, I am not somebody in the know, I have no contacts within the club, yet I heard about the possible interests of others wanting and willing to buy the club. No I will not say from where or from whom. I do not even live in Blackburn, though yes have friends and contacts in the area. There has been problems within the club for a long long time since the takeover. Often when there are 'tales' (I want for a better word / description) going around, there are counter tales. Syed had a very good 'spin' system. So good, that it appears, according to various media reports, others have been taken in also. I therefore suggest that 'the syed situation' may well be 'according to some' a stick to beat philip or even others with. But we should all know that there are a lot of sharks in all sorts of business, that even the best businessman or accountant, the knowledgeable can be taken in by.
promoted2001 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Allegedly, one of the private investigators involved was working for more than one tabloid and not only News international. Allegedly Allegedly, we're up for sale. Allegedly
nicko Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Are you going to write the story in the Mirror ? And if not, why not ? No. Because I am not convinced they are selling yet. I respect kamy and I know where his info has come from. However there is a long way between what someone has heard and saying that a Premier League club is for sale. For a kick-off IF Venkys WERE looking for a buyer that tells me one thing and one thing alone... They haven't found one yet.
Henwah Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Why is that a good point? What is said there is obvious. End of the day venkys aren't going to sell, we will sign a couple of strikers who will accumulate around 20 goals between them, a defensive midfielder, a couple of average defenders and will finish around 12th place. Because it highlighted that all premier league club owners are equally s***e, some just have more money than others. And the fact it's 'obvious' doesn't mean it's not a good point in the midst of the owner-bashing
Teacup Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 So Venky's bought us on a whim, the business people who run things so well and spend their money so wisely made a catastrophic error when buying us and it has taken them this long to realise it. Now they want to sell. During that time, while trying to sell us on, they have their agents make up a list of players costing between 5M to 15M for a giggle to wind up the fans. Does this sound about right?
Tim Southampton Rover Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 The next day or two will be very interesting. I am hoping Venkys have had a scare and have realised that they need extra help (i.e. football people in charge of the club) and hopefully start to think about ways to move the club forward otherwise we might end up looking forward to an anglo-Italian cup game instead of champions league football they promised us!

Does this sound about right? No, I think you're mis-representing strong rumours to shore up the "Venky's are learning, they'll come right" position. Personally I think they've only made one error ... and that was buying the club.
nicko Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Yet another unconfirmed report by Nicko. Smoke and mirrors. There's a lot of it about Halfwit. Check who started the thread and the story. Not me.
Teacup Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 No, I think you're mis-representing strong rumours to shore up the "Venky's are learning, they'll come right" position. I am just reading as I see it, I couldn't care less what happens as all of this is clearly out of our control anyway. All I can see is, a list of confirmed transfer targets costing silly amounts of money and now supposedly our owners want to sell. Why even get the agents to make such a crazy list if they have no intention of spending any money?
JAL Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Did Venky's complete, repeat complete, the purchase of David Dunns house at Brockhall?
ElTwis Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Have I imagined it or did someone suggest a couple of months ago that Fred Walker was so upset about what he saw a the destruction of Jacks and the Walker families legacy that he was considering doing something about it? If we are assuming that there is no profit to be made from Rovers, and that's probably a fair assumption, then surely the only possibility of a buyer would be someone with a connection or love of the club? Not many millionares out there that fit the bill but to be fair, the Walkers probably do... Just a thought...
Glenn Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 To the admins, If you have heard something....please share it and bring about some sense on here. The hystria of today has been caused by your risque statement, please have the decency and honour to divulge the information! You have all the information we can give. We're not going to say how we found out, who from or any of the other names involved because doing so may be detrimental to what we believe is best for the club. We even wrestled with telling people this much. We wanted something a little more official (i.e. an official denial) so we could run it as "news", but we couldn't get anything, so here it is on the forum as rumour. What's more I can't see anyone "official" being willing to make a statement, so there will probably be no more "solid" info on it (at least until is happens or it doesn't).
