[Archived] Rumour: Venky's To Sell?

Recommended Posts

I wonder...

Seems like people on here think that Venkys have got no clue how to run a football club.

Imagine them then trying to SELL this football club to someone. How on earth would those negotiations be? Venkys say one thing (because they believe it to be true), then some advisor says something else because he actually knows the business. How would anyone ever want to buy from a seller that has no clue of what he is selling?

Seems to work out for some of the sales guys where I work :P

"I have sold them 1 Javascripts"

So, if this is true, does that mean we got lied to when Kean said they offered Jones that silly wage to keep him? I assume Venky's wouldn't make that sort of offer and would of preferred to sell anyway?

How many times do you have to smell bullcrap before you actually see it?

I have been hearing nonstop waffling about how much money they are going to spend, what they are going to do, blah blah.

What have they done?

Signed three players linked to Anderson, sold Jones, and talked more.

Nothing else.

There is a big gap between wondering about whether you would be as well getting rid and finding a buyer to make that happen.

The Trust found that out and took about four years to get there.

You don't want that level of uncertainty again.

Williams. Finn et al did NOT find a buyer remember. Not much of a triumph there.

That was Jerome Anderson.

Sorry, I didn't mean it in that way. What I was getting at is if Venky's opt to adopt the Trust method of running the club on a limited budget they haven't got Williams and Finn to fall back on who were used to running the club in that way. Again, in Allardyce they had a manager who was used to shopping in the bargain basement.

I was actually agreeing with you in that I don't think they are going to find a buyer anytime soon even if they wanted to. However, if they want to adopt the Trust model of recent years they are going to need some very experienced people at the helm and we appear to have cleared all those out.

Hearing the academy is turning into a disaster, with coaches leaving, others reported to be considering their futures. Not good vibes down there.

The old model had run it's course - we were maxed out at a 20 mill overdraft remember that had been run up by the previous regime. The Jones money would be needed to keep paying the bloated salary bill

I notice that a post has been deleted.

Said that the next time that happens would be the last.

Bye.

You do not buy a PL club expecting to make money, See Chelsea, City, Sunderland etc.

I actually believe that Rovers is a club that has not been exploited commercially to its full potential - Venky's also thought this. IMO, the club's thinking, negotiation and execution in the commercial areas have been woeful for too long.

If £40m would do the trick then it's 'a steal'. Easier said than done but if I had the money then I wouldn't hesitate. With sensible general management (similar to Williams & Finn), a shrewd manager (not Kean) and some sharper, more innovative thinking on the commercial side (we wont go there), your money is, IMO, solid.

Reading through the thread, many have heard the rumour and speculation that has been fairly widespread since about March involving some 'familiar' names and some 'not so familiar'.

My bet is that it will be done and dusted by the close of the transfer window with a sprinkling of signings thrown into the mix.

If this is all true it is a monumental F*** up by all parties involved in the sale & buying of the club!!

How could Venkys get less than a year into their ownership of the club, having not really spent much in terms of buying players & then decide it wasnt for them!?!?!

I mean these are supposed to be smart business men

Kentaro & SEM are supposed to be footballing super agents

& the walker trust were supposed to be...... well, trusted with the well being of the club!?!?!

I dont get the venkys selling angle, it doesnt make sence!!

maybe 3 years down the line, £100million spent & only a top 12 finish to show for it would make them change their mind

These guys were supposed have had this well thought through & a long term plan was in place!!

Im just baffled by the whole thing!!!
