[Archived] Rumour: Venky's To Sell?

Recommended Posts

Don't understand the stadium in Pune comment? Let's hope his son got his granddads brains

I read it that he plans on building an academy AND a stadium in Pune for the academy team to play in.

He wants to improve football within India

Surely the brother's comments puts this topic to bed?

[/quote

Just another pie in the sky idea. We need to get the house in order over here first.

You are very trusting to put your faith in one interview from the brother who wanted Maradona, Ronaldnhio and Riquelme

I would say the opposite and its proven what a massive mistake posting this thread was in the first place.

We were supposed to be building ties between brfcs and Venky's. I doubt this thread has helped in any way, shape or form.

As many times as it was stated "its just a rumour". The fact they gave it credence means its 100% true in some eyes here.

I'm a reasonably moderate poster but I'm getting sick to death of this kind of ignorant post. And it's not just you Joe. So you're probably going to bear the brunt of other comments about this but...

Does anyone really think that Glenn and Kamy et al, didn't think long and hard about the consequences of posting this information. And it is information. In fact it is a FACT that this rumour was already circulating.

Do you think they heard it on the bus in a conversation between two random blokes and thought "I know, let's risk our relationship with the club. Let's put the site up there to be shot at. Stuff all the thousands of hours we've spent getting the site to where it is today. Let's pee off Nicko and get everyone's back up. It'll be a hoot"...?

Well, do you? Really?

This is a fans message board and it is topics like this which are what fans want to talk about. You can't just ignore these things. Just look at the number of pages of discussion already! What Kamy did was very difficult and took some guts, and any long standing posters on here know that he has the best interests of the club, and this mb, at heart.

The only thing missing from this thread is an "adults only" warning because we should be able to expect grown up discussions - even if it is transfer window time - and a lot of posters are unable to do so.

At the very least, even if it does turn out to be untrue, it stands as a warning as to what could happen if Venkys were to lose interest.

Rant over - and if I have to lose a week's posting rights because of it then so be it.

The same way I'm amazed people get hysterical over any bad rumor that floats around this messageboard.

On a more serious note, there were people crying out for Venkys to communicate with the fans and say something about this matter. Whether it was a direct or indirect response to the messageboard, they did. If we aren't reassured by what Mr Rao said, we wouldn't be asking Venkys to comment on the matter in the first place.

Talking to Indian Reuters is not communicating with fans. Not bashing Venkys or wanting them to fail, i want them to succeed but i would have done so many things differently had i bought Pune Rovers.

Aye, Speedie has it right. Topic dead but it kept us interested for a day or so. Probably mishchief making in the first place possibly by the London based press. May have been N.O.W. hacking into John Williams phone?

The only problem I have with your cryptic comments Philip is that if we'd gone the way you wanted pre-talkeover we'd now be in the hands of Mr Syed...

His bid required him to put in £300m.

So he would have put £300m into Rovers' bank account or not bought the club.

What's your problem?

So if he was going to put £300m into the club, why didnt he?

My problem is he clearly hasn't got it as Santander's administration shows.

Whatever micker mouse bank statement you saw has effectively proven to be totally bogus.

Zaccaius, would you be so kind as to enlighten us who your father is? You did demand names and sources from JAL when he mentioned something about the academy going downhill and coaches being sacked, so hopefully you can take your advice and provide a name as well. :P

slightly different.. as my own personal identity will be revealed.. but

no problem.. i will enlighten you! i'll ask him if he's ok for me to reveal him on here and,, then i will!

Can we all stop slagging Philipl of about Ali Syed and just be thankful we were not sold to him. With Syed the question has never been whether he had a $1billion in WGA bank account but where the money came from. As the accounts were audited by the strictest auditors in the business they would have made damn sure they saw all accounts with the cash in before signing off. The issue was always where ALi got the money from to personally loan the money to his investment company.

Heck to get to the stage he got to buy Rovers he probably spent £2-3m on business plans, lawyers, pr, teams, accountants the french marketing genius etc who probably all got paid upfront etc. It's ok for all of us now to say with hindsight what a fraud Ali is but we would all have sold to him if we were in the boards position, heck we all want Venkys to bankrupt themselves spending all of their cash in one transfer window on players so you can't have it both ways.

Jisty I don't think for one second Kammy or Glenn have an agenda to hurt the club or forums. Or that what they did was not a very hard decision for them to make. I just think they made the wrong decision.

I stand by my comments that starting this thread, with the post they did, was a huge mistake. It DOES hurt the link between brfcs and the owners which they were trying to build. Unless they were 100% sure that the story was true and could be confirmed they should not have started this thread. This is much more serious that the transfer rumour threads, I don't think they can be compared.

But if they didn't start the thread, people would be talking about the rumors elsewhere anyway, so won't that also deal the same amount of damage and create more work for the moderators who have to track down and delete all those posts that were irrelevant to the respective threads?

Even better, if Kamy and Glenn didn't start the thread, someone else probably would.

I think someone else starting it would have been a far better idea than it being started by the BRFCS News account and including quotes like this.

"The reason we have posted this is because we believe that it is possible that this story may break soon so it is better you read it here then somewhere else where they may have put a sensationalist angle onto the story."

Without wishing to put words in their mouths, but given I'm expect they knew and considered that BEFORE posting it, why do you think they still posted it?

Personally ,I think it was a strong enough rumour that it warranted discussion. Strong enough that Glenn and Kamy - and others involved in the discussion - who have more to lose over it that you and I, felt it was worth posting. I trust their judgement.

Unless they invented the rumour, and I trust that they did not, I agree with the decision to start a thread about it.

Many on here might have advocated spend, spend, spend but I never have. Essentially because it makes no sense for a club our size.

Regarding Syed..I'm sure he was able, through smoke and mirrors,to present something. However, looking at the 'alleged' pyramid-type selling he's alleged to have been involved in,it was probably someone elses cash.

Regarding Philip,if you're going to post on here with the self-confidence he does then you better be sure you have broad shoulders if it all goes to rat sh1t....

To summarise..Philip has been on a shock and awe campaign to discredit Venky's from the off when his preferred alternative is essentially a busted flush. That is why it's still relevant.

This thread is becoming more and more like the chicken or egg question!

Depends upon what you mean by spend - because the market rate for reasonably average players (e.g. £7m for Adams) is still BIG money for us - but I tend to agree.

However, it also means they (and the manager) need to abandon plans for top 10 and stop talking rubbish about Champions League in 3-4 years (if ever).

All these soundbites serve to do is keep Venky's name in the media - same with the Ronaldinho / Beckham nonsense.

Good grief

This thread is becoming more and more like the chicken or egg question!

I suppose that's one way of looking at it. But I stand by my assertion that Kamy hasn't started the rumour - or laid an egg.

Summed up pretty well Yeti, people like Black burn are accused of being Venky employees for being positive- I am still in the same position as I was when the season ended:

1. Lets see the investment in the team.

2. Lets see who our sponsors are.

Both of those will be used to judge Venkys IMO.

Well, imy, Venkys and Rovers have already weakened the team from the one which scraped to safety on the last day. (That's part of my judgement of Venky's to date - others have wiped that slate clean following the Wolves match - as is there prerogative)

Let's just hope that we are simply in between the one step backwards and the two strides forward, and all us worriers are worrying about nothing...

Jisty- you could argue that they want to bring in their own team and do things differently, etc, etc, the KEY is what they do NOW.

Investment in the team is a must and if it is not forthcoming then Venkys will not have my support and I am guessing that they will lose the support of a majority of others who are sitting on a fence at the moment waiting to see what happens next.

One thing I am certain about- they are actively looking to sell- The bravado shown in India by Rao is a certainty of this- the stigma of selling will almost certainly cripple them IMO.

Very welcome statement from Mr Rao. The family should talk to the media more and making themselves accessible to local media in particular would go a long way to winning over the hearts and minds of supporters.

Also good to see the owners have discarded their Rothmans Football Yearbooks and rejected fanciful notions of "marquee" signings.

Now please can we have some action and make some sensible signings that will improve the squad ?
