[Archived] Rumour: Venky's To Sell?

Recommended Posts

You should do then. I admit that I have been wrong in the past but on very few occasions.

Never heard the term 'First impressions last longest' have you? How about 'You never get a second chance to make a first impression'. Wise words. Those two looked more like taxi drivers than taxi drivers when they tipped up at Ewood that day cheap suited and all greasy lank hair and goosepimples. Their incredibly stupid subsequent actions, one following quickly behind another didn't do anything to prove me wrong did they?

Taxi drivers-really the best stereotype you can come up with? I don't know how much you know about suits but that was a pretty expensive one looking at the design and I have seen very few taxi drivers in suits anyway!

You are rarely wrong: Nicko is a Kentaro agent, Venkys will raise season ticket prices that's two in the last month that you are wrong about, plenty more, what's the expression again, 'even a broken clock is right twice a day'

If Venkys pump 50 million into the club tomorrow and hire a new manager, Chief executive and backroom staff, that would not change peoples minds?

I can get to the M6 by car by 1 hour after the final whistle on ANY matchday and that's seeing the final whistle, clapping the players, strolling to the car, and driving from Mill Hill through Cherry Tree to the M65. Easy. Cannot be simpler if they tried.

On final whistle does everything speed up and the Benny Hill music kick in?

Imy, theno, we've been doing so much better at people actually debating without it turning personal. Lets keep it that way.

I've not made anything personal Glenn, obvious where Theno is going with this. I wont say anything else.

You don't say Sherlock. That's why it was in relation to 'players need a full pre-season to hit the ground running' rollocks <_<

No the difference is that Alan Shearer had played in the top flight, was training with Southampton, then came here and continued from there. If we're looking at foreign players we really need to get them in as early as possible to avoid the Formica syndrome.

Obviously if we were looking to sign proven premier league players then it's a different story, the problem there being that other teams may gazump us. But let's face it, it's not an exact science.

Get train (usually free travel on 17 of 19 home games as it's busy and the ticket man can't be arsed) at 1.30.

Enter Navigation at 1.50

Sink 2/3 pints

Stroll to Ewood at 2.30

Sit in seat after a whizz at 2.55

Get train back at 17.38

Plonk arse on couch at home at 18.00

Set off walking to the ground at 2.37.

Take seat at 2.59

Boo

Half time rant.

Boo again.

Leave after 86 minutes.

Walk back home and moan on here.

Another enjoyable afternoon in the Riverside!

A bloke at work who sits in the Riverside told me he leaves via the Darwen end gate these days as it's far to busy getting past the Blackburn End for all the yellow bellied cowards who sneak out down the tunnels. He says at least he has the balls to let everyone see him

Isn't this thread about the "potential" sale of the club?

It's only just reached intriguing rumour status let alone potential sale

Kamy,

Any more information about the rumour of the club being sold ?

It would definitely brighten up the mood here if there was a higher chance of this happening. (I expect it not to happen)

There's a good argument for it though from Venkys point of view. Clearly they don't have the money to meet their stated aims so to be in some sort of partnership with anyone who does would be a great fit. They could do their marketing and development of an Academy at Pune and Rovers could buy decent players. They'd get residual goodwill and kudos from the results.

Usually a ride home after the pub's shut and I've abandoned the car. ^_^

A wise man.

. . . the yellow bellied cowards who sneak out down the tunnels.

I would never describe a fellow Rover this way. Or am I misunderstanding you?

Found this from from ArabianBusiness.com....

"The Bugshan family owns a business empire of epic proportions. Based in Jeddah, they are associated with a plethora of business sectors, including automobiles, luxury cosmetics and watches, real estate and electronics. As regional entrepreneurs, they also maintain a strong presence in Morocco, Yemen, Algeria and the UAE.

Founded in 1923, the Ahmed Salem Bugshan Group (referred to as ASB) started as a steel manufacturer. Since then it has developed into a huge conglomerate by establishing alliances, joint ventures, dealerships and licence agreements with leading global brands."

A financial backer with a background in steel. Sounds familiar..;)

It has been rumoured on the message board that 'somebody' within the club has said we are unlikely to see any of the P.Jones money -- leading on from this there was further speculation that the money has already been spent on RSC wages, departure payments to John Williams, Tom Finn etc

BUT

IF the rumored take over is true then we would surely be unlikey to see any of the PJones money anyway? Wouldn't it all just disappear into a black hole somewhere(the Venkys pockets)? I think it's called asset stripping...

My thought process is that if I were selling my house but had ear marked money to spend on renovations I wouldn't give the renovation money away as part of the house sale...

It would be well and truly up to the new owners to find the money for the renovations (if they wanted to do them)- I'd be selling the property as seen.

The optimist in me is saying that this won't be a problem any way as surely the new owners have money available and intend to spend this money on the 'renovations' otherwise why bother buying the club?

Hypothetically if Venky's do pocket the 17.5m from PJones, would they then lower their asking price for the club?

Surely if a major asset has now been diposed of then the value must go down? One would hope that the Raos don't to double dip by taking the transfer profit AND also demanding a profit on the sale of the club?

By the way I DO think that any sale of the club will only be partial - that way Venkys will be able to meet all the promises that they have recently made about still being committed to the club and in it for the long run, the Indian Academy would still go ahead & we would still be used as a marketing tool for the club. The young Rao would still join the board when he turns 21. I fully expect Venkys to be our next shirt sponsor as this will be said to underline their commitment - even though they may be a minority shareholder in the future.

I think there is too much pride at stake for Venkys to completely walk away from the deal so early in the piece. I also do think that there are some very real opportunities for the Rovers and Venkys to work together to open new markets.

It's been said many many times that we need to expand our fan base & India & south America will be the perfect places for us to do that.

Some supporters in our little microcosm of BRFCS take on the view that Venkys have made Rovers a laughing stock in the entire football world. Get real. The football world really don't pay that much attention to our blunderings. It certainly hasn't made the news in Australia and I daresay that goes for most other parts of the globe.

I also believe that this is what would happen. To a certain degree, I would accept it. Not a 50 /50 split though. I would accept 20/ 80 split. Venkys could still do their Indina stuff and the other marketting stuff. I believe this way all parties win. Venkys, new oners and the club.

Doomed to failure I would expect.

Man Utd are already expanding into India.

Why should we expect any commercial success over there just because we're owned by an Indian poultry firm, it doesn't follow.

Foreign fans want to follow WINNERS!

It's just throwing money away and any businessman worth his salt would have the nous to see that.

Just throwing money down the bloody drain.
