i have bought one but im feeling a sense of dread for the coming season. Cant imagine what will happen if we get beat by wolves and if we get off to a bad start in the first 10 games, i sense there will be a protest, i for one will join in.

What about if we get bad defeats in India or hong kong or other pre-season games. people were up in arms last season v preston (I think that was the fixture).

Both the Indian and the Hong Kong matches could be extremely good for Rovers with regards to publicity - but equally bad if results go against Rovers.

I expect this MB to crash if Rovers are embarrassed in either India or Hong Kong.

pafell, i think people can forgive pre-season games as its all about 'fitness' for these types of matches. That will be people's excuses anyway. When the real action starts on august 13th then people wont be as forgiving.

It seems the whole messageboard is suffused with an overwhelming sense of depression and doom.

It would be interesting to see how ST sales are going.

I can't remember the last time I looked forward to a season (2006?), but my God, I am dreading this coming season. There's still time to pull something out of the fire, but on our present trajectory, it's going to get ugly this coming season.

Recruitment (and not just of players) is a major concern.

I would imagine many feel the same way Bryan I know I do. Fans of course don't want to be pessimistic but there isn’t much to be hopeful or encouraged about at the moment.

Anybody that does go mad after a bad pre-season result/performance can't know a thing about football.

In all seriousness I can't recall us playing well in a friendly since we beat Barca ten years ago.

Normally I would agree with your post about pre-season matches. (unless we ever played the dingles in a pre-season) But as Venkys want these - especaily in india - matches to show off their purchase, to help their advertisment with regards their other business. They must expect a decent performance and results. I think the Hong Kong matches are on TV also - so if they want to broaden the fan base, then this is an ideal moment to try to do so. Can't help thinking that these matches are more important than normal pre-season games in the current climate.

Is there anyone left who hasn't given up on Venkys?

If so I know a guy who is selling shares in the Eifel Tower and he'd love to meet you!

You do realise there is a middle ground between slavish devotion to Venky's and having given up on them last December? I believe it's called wait and see, because there is sod all anyone can do anyway.

Personally I am far more stressed about how the Toronto Blue Jays season is going than I am about who we have or haven't signed by July 14th.

How can anyone say your not bothered by who we havent signed? i am deeply worried, the season is 4 weeks away, wouldnt it be nice to get a few fresh faces in the door, be on the tour of Asia, gel with the team and be there for the first game of the season and not thrown in at the 11th hour and struggle to settle...coulpe of pre-season goals/performances will boost anyones confidence!

All these clubs have yet not made any major signings (Soursce: http://www.skysports.com/football/transfers/0,20367,11660__201107,00.html):

Aston Villa

Bolton

Chelsea

Everton

Spurs

WBA

Wigan

The newly promoted teams have made signings, but not for a lot of money it seems

Though the lists says Arsenal have not signed anyone, I'm sure Gervinho is done, so the list may not be complete. I also think Zoltan Gera joined WBA or something, but maybe I'm wrong.

Point is, even if the list is not completely correct, we are not the only one to be slow in the market this summer.

This is an even better source in my opinion.

There are only three teams not to make a signing, us Villa and Chelsea. Whether you consider othe clubs signing as 'major' or not is purely subjective on your part.

But, going with your list, how many of those teams are to be relegation candidates if they weren't to sign anyone? How many have lost a major player from last season? How many of those clubs seem to have a complete lack of a management structure? How many off those clubs would put players off because of reputation they currently have?

Villa I would say are the only team that should be as worried as us at the lack of transfer activity as they've lost Downing, Young and Friedel. You can forget Chelsea who are clearly making efforts to make big signings (two confirmed bids for Modric) and will have none of the same problems we will this summer.

Well any signing will be subjective untill they have played a significant number of games. A lot of the signings are free or below £4m, which suggest they are not superstars.

So far, I think Roves, Villa, bolton, Stoke, WBA and Wigan looks weaker than they were last season. Also I believe all the promoted teams are about as weak as the ones that went down, if not worse.

A lot of teams have signed players I know nothing about, so hard to judge.

I don't know what is going on behind the scenes at Rovers, and can't say I believe a lot of the stuff that are mentioned on here. It is pretty similar to every summer. Where can I find evidence of all the "trouble" going on though? Some posters on here, saying they know people at the club? Not the best source. If you can point me to actual evidence of the things going on, I'd be very very happy. Said that, I would like for the people that "know" what is going on, to set up a protest, petition or something similar for the fans to join, and that way maybe make the owners change for the better.

That's about right EIT but you are wasting your time.

Paffell, Den, Bangkok Rover, Bob Fleming, the Rovers shirt burning Majibal and Kelbo, who talks to players but couldn't possibly name them, are in full flow.

No stopping them, they are clearly having too much fun.

It's not fun watching the club you love slowly falling apart before your eyes. There have been too many poor decisions made and key personnel lost to dismiss the chain of sad events since last December as the natural progression during a change of regime, and there have been so many promises made and broken that it's little wonder that fans don't trust anything the owners say and continue to vent their feelings. It's in the owners hands - if they can deliver some decent signings (at least 4 to improve the squad from last season), the bickering will abate and fans might start to believe Rovers have a positive future under capable owners. The Chocolate Soldier in Canada is correct to say there's nothing we as supporters can do about the lack of transfer activity - but it doesn't mean we are not entitled to voice our displeasure as Rovers miss out on yet another good player.

I sense there will be a very volatile atmosphere at Morecambe, first chance to vent feelings directly

I doubt it personally, I don't often go to friendlies but people will be there for the day out and to see some football again.

Of course you are entitled to voice your displeasure, just don't expect people to keep listening to it all summer long.

Interestingly, every criticism thrown at Venky's can also be applied to Kraft following their takeover of Cadbury's: broken promises (keeping Somerdale factory open); losing senior, long-serving managers left right and centre with inadequate or no replacements; little to no investment in the business; plummeting sales figures; nobody seems to know what they are doing. Takeovers hardly ever go well in the first year or two.
