[Archived] Rumour: Venky's To Sell?

Recommended Posts

Did you see it ? Serious question.

I have watched all the footage and I didn't notice that.

Philipl wasnt saying that the Venkys are Nazi's or that they put the swastika on the wall. Read it again.

He is saying that his interpritation of it was that it was a bit of graffiti that was put there by the shop floor workforce to describe the Venkys management style.

Their own version of "Venkys Out"

He quite often sees things that aren't there though.

Do people in India regularly compare their employers to Nazi's?

It's quite an offensive thing to say on many levels. Implying that the workers think of their employes as comparable to evil.

Has anyone at work ever drawn a swastika on the wall to indicate a grievance?

There is information to suggest the only thing stopping Venkys from selling is the upcoming tournament in Asia, they want to still be involved for marketing purposes (Hence the Honda link too).

All being well, when that is done and over with, we may see some movement.

I've had it from two separate sources that the club is currently failing to meet some financial obligations, although I do not know how much of that is based in rumour.

This.

No, but I once drove a Panzer Tank into the Sales Directors office in order to get my point across a couple of years ago. We still laugh about it now. Well I do, I doubt he does, I haven't seen him since.

I remember seeing the tv show and the swastika (under a sign) by the way. I just thought, "Oh, that's a little unfortunate, you'd think they'd have painted over that or at least film somewhere else" like the Kriegszimmer.

The swastika still is on this MB- over to cleverer sleuths than me to find it.

It is in the thread which discussed the Sky documentary if I remember correctly but it might be in one of the other threads about Venky's running in December/January/February time.

But this is a minor diversion from the possibility that Rovers might be getting new owners within the next few weeks.

I will stick my neck out and say that we will have Venkys as our owners for the forseeable future, if that's the case we need to hope for major changes.

Can you honestly see them losing face and selling up- First Indian PL owners and they fail within a YEAR?

I am losing confidence with them on a daily basis but it would take a few signings and a good Chief Executive to steady the ship IMO.

Compared to them taking us down and never to see the EPL again?

No EPL = no publicity and game over for Rovers and Venkys while the club hemorrhages money

And none of those appear to be happening at this point in time..

I can't see our owners changing again either. Wishful thinking imo

A lot of it, but with all the flak Mrs Desai and co are taking if a buyer came along can you see her letting Balaji keep his new toy? They have no bond with the club apart from business. Would it be worth your time?

I think the only thing holding this up is the upcoming marketing opportunities and if the rumoured buyer(s?) actually exist.

It will be interesting to see what happens after the Asia tour, or if Venkys buy any players of note.

An actual football manager in charge of the team would help, too.

Yes, relegation is a major worry for them don't you think?

Also, I doubt they would want to pull out entirely. If Venkys could sell but keep their hand in in some way that would be good for all concerned.

Add to that, if they introduced more money to the club via new owners, that could be spun that they had left the club in better shape in a short period of time.

From reading the previous pages my summary is...

The rumours all revolve around us not being able to spend the Jones money - probably because we're only getting instalments and as we keep making a loss the instalments will go towards servicing other bills

Don't know this is a fact but that's what I've pieced together

And given the current financial climate in the UK ( and globally) I wouldn't be too surprised if the banks aren't turning the screw as well... especially with a new owner who may have an as yet unproven credit history in the UK

The more I read the more I think this might be the case - if so I'd feel a bit of sympathy for Venkys as some of these things may well be out of their control...but not too much sympathy as there must always be contingency plans in place - some 'what if' planning!

I'm also clinging onto the rumour that we might be sold or at least a new investor come on board - I think this would explain a lot of the behaviours.

I think Venkys want us for the publicity we can generate - but that's all.

I DO believe they will build an academy in India & that Venkys will be part of Rovers on a long term basis - they will keep there word on this - but their involvement will be scaled back, they will no longer hold a controlling influence.

I think a EPL club is a good marketing tool for them & that it could be mutually beneficial for us if it expands our profile but I think that Venkys are now realising that you don't have to buy the whole newspaper just to place an advert...

Well that's my guess anyway

Semper optimist!!!!!!!!!

You've no choice seeing as you've always been one of their biggest supporters. Fortunately from Rovers' point of view their ownership could be unravelling which for most supporters cannot come soon enough. Venky's have never lived up their many promises and show no signs of learning from their previous mistakes. Major changes would need new thinking and an acknowledgment that they just might have got some things wrong over the past 7 months - in view of the apparent mindset of the family that may be too much to hope for.

I have always given people a chance Jim, that's never going to change. This window is a pivotal one for us and there is still a while to go but things are not looking good at the moment.

Personally cannot see them selling- can actually see them spending upwards of 20 million on players this window, lol.
