BangkokRover Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I haven't commented much on this topic yet, but I have two things I want to add: 1.) If there is indeed a crisis going on behind the scenes that can potentially have a negative impact on the football club and the people "in the know" truly care about this club, they should be doing the responsible thing and revealing their sources and publishing this as fact. There is absolutely no point of rumour-mongering anymore, if things are indeed as bad as being said. Responsible journalism is about uncovering the truth and posting it in the public domain with the backup of sources and not mere supposition. So I repeat, if the situation is as bad as being said, you HAVE to reveal your sources now, so that the fans can at least try and do something about it. OH wake up, why do they need to reveal their sources? It's public knowledge now.

Miker Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 OH wake up, why do they need to reveal their sources? It's public knowledge now. How is it public KNOWLEDGE? There's a massive difference between a fact and a hypothesis. Every factual piece of writing requires references, quotes and cited evidence, I don't see why journalist articles should be exempt. If the things that philip has revealed are true (and I'm not doubting that they are) then we should be actively seeking answers from Venky's in regards to this. Various media outlets should be notified and encouraged to investigate the claims and demand answers from the owners in regards to everything that has transpired. What's the point of sitting idly by? philip is revealing all this information to us now, while saying our only two options is to take a great leap into the unknown or into relegation. We should therefore be pressuring Venky's to either give us assurances about the future of the club under them or to sell the club - the local journos are best placed for this to happen. The people in the know should be exposing Venky's for the farce they are and present the mounting evidence they have. I don't see a point of lurking in the shadows anymore, when it's clear some sort of action should be taken.
Stuart Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 2.) I seem to remember that prior to being sold to Venky's, Syed was actively interested in the club and reportedly had a link to Venky's, where they were going to take over the club as a partnership, until Venky's decided to go solo. It would make sense to me that while Venky's were interested in the perks of owning a football club and are serious about promoting football in India and building Blackburn Rovers into a solid Premier League team, they have been lacking the investment they were hoping to get from a business partner such as Syed. With the talk of Venky's selling, it would make little sense to me that they would want to sell the club outright and just disappear, but it does make a lot of sense that they want to bring another investor in, to help pump money into the club and work alongside them. So, personally, I wouldn't be surprised to see these Arab billionaires come in and buy a high percentage stake in the club, but I don't see Venky's going away at this point. In my opinion, they seem genuinely interested in running the club and making it a success, but likely lack the funds to do so. Aren't you thinking of Saurin Shah (sp?)
chaddyrovers Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 There is a programme on tonight on Channel 4 on 'how to buy a football club' It will be a very interest watch tonight.

Well all know how the system works, someone is told something and then the information is passed on. The reporter then writes about it, if he says I have been told by Joe Bloggs that Venkys are skint. How long do you think Joe Bloggs is going to be in a job??? Sitting idly by MMMM like the Blackpool game when people partied like they won the game. TV Cameras at the game, national media at the game and the Blackburn End went home. Oh actually I take that back one guy came on here and asked if we should protest. The story is has been in a National Paper, its on the BBC Gossip page, its out there. What more can people do? Have you done anything? Have you emailed the LET to ask what the HELL they are doing, they are the local paper and all they have done is tow the Rovers PR machine for too long. There is a programme on tonight on Channel 4 on 'how to buy a football club' It will be a very interest watch tonight. Cheers for the tip Chaddy I will watch it tomorrow morning. Wonder if there will be second episode how not to buy a club

They said that SA and JW would stay in place in their current roles. within 2 months SA was sacked and JW resigned becasue he did NOT have a role at rovers. They tell Kean and Huber that we have a healthy transfer budget and Kean tell the fans this and we could challenging for europe. Now there is NO MONEY NOW FOR TRANSFERS. just free transfers and loan players.
Stuart Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 One thing I find quite odd us the assertion that Barclays are tightening the screw on several PL clubs. If anybody goes to the wall then surely it negatively impacts Barclays since they are the main sponsors of the league!

The people in the know as you call them got told over and over by folk on here to stop being negative. Told they were scaremongering, doom merchants, slandered, insulted, told to shut up, they are spoiling the messageboard etc etc. When people were shouting "there is a wolf coming" they were right and nobody wanted to believe them. Now they are being told they should have told everybody so this could be exposed. They did and it was rejected.

If anybody goes to the wall then surely it negatively impacts Barclays since they are the main sponsors of the league! Yes it will be negative but considering Barclays is one of the few UK banks that did not take money from the government. So they unlike the other banks are obviously watching the figures. I am sure they are more worried about loosing tens of millions than a few headlines that will fish and chips paper in a few days. No news from Venkys mouth piece Andy Cryer and supposed LET reporter. I will wait for him to have undate from Jason Roberts later today. Cryer Twitter

I am reminded of at least three quotes from the Rao family saying they use no debt or third party funds.
BangkokRover Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I am reminded of at least three quotes from the Rao family saying they use no debt or third party funds. Or you have to get seven out of ten descions correct?
philipl Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 One thing I do not understand - why the drama in the last 2 weeks about, "if this ever comes out...". IT's obviously not good news but I fail to see what would have happened in addition if we had been told this earlier. Because most of it has not come out yet.
BangkokRover Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Because most of it has not come out yet. You mean there is worse news to follow?
BPF Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 You mean there is worse news to follow? Depends on your definition of worse. There is plenty to be uncovered though.
Mattyblue Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I am reminded of at least three quotes from the Rao family saying they use no debt or third party funds. 'Everything is bought with cash, massive reserves, loads of hidden companies that make billions'. Complete tripe and it was from day one. I repeatedly asked : 'how are they going to afford all this?' 'they don't make any profit, yet they are going to bankroll a PL football club? HOW?' I got swatted aside as 'negative'. Unreal.
BPF Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 So basically we're fecked? Without a takeover, yes. I'd go as far as saying that it looks like asset stripping is taking place
BangkokRover Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Depends on your definition of worse. There is plenty to be uncovered though. Ah OK, so we will make the Champions League in 4 years. OK worry over
Mattyblue Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Without a takeover, yes. I'd go as far as saying that it looks like asset stripping is taking place IF they are asset stripping to ensure a takeover is swift with minimal debt, WE COULD somehow survive this. Is a takeover really a possibility? Because without it we are on the road to Pompey. Absolute disgrace.

Because without it we are on the road to Pompey. Absolute disgrace. Let's just hope that a new owner would be a lot more 'savvy', and is already working on an action plan that would need to be executed within days ie new CEO, new football manager as at the moment, IMO, we are hopelessly adrift. Staying-up in 2011/12 will be a major ahievement even with a new owner.

You do realise that I was one of the people calling for Venky's heads since they sent Sam packing right? I didn't reject anything they said then and I haven't rejected anything they said now. So I'm not sure what you're trying to prove by directing the above at me?

Miker it was no way directed at you as an individual. But in in your post you asked why did people in the know not expose what was going on. I just answered or commented on that point. There were a few who were not happy about Sam being sacked at the time, but still supported the owners.
