Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Trezeguet is a good shout, how old is he though, must be about 34? Really like Shane Long at Reading, but I wouldn't pay more than 6 million. 33 but still (same as Roberts) The guys scoring record in Europe and for France is excellent. Worth bearing in mind that Shearer was still banging them in at a similar age.

Hughesy Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Foreign main striker - Papiss Cisse all day Top European strike rates Take a look at the link above (taken from Feb 11) and just consider the names around Cisse, he has to be the stand out candidate....ANY of the others who are of the right age would cost a FORTUNE! Premier league options - Odemwingie or Sturridge Young option - Iker Muniain - whilst he is only 18, this kid has a HUGE future, already played 60 1st games for Athletic Bilbao
Hi Mack Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Defoe or Pogrebnyak(sp?) Defoe will score goals £9-11M? Pog- Scored goals all over the place looks a decent player!
JAL Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Who's going to start the thread' WHERE IS THE MONEY ' No money or little money = NO super striker!
Athlete Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Nicolas Bendnter at this rate only striker we'll get is on a subbuteo pitch...lol
Hekla Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Kolbeinn Sigþórsson, super young striker from Ajax. I wish! A shame we missed out on him.
Backroom Tom Posted July 9, 2011 Backroom Posted July 9, 2011 Nicolas Bendnter Not beyond the realms of possibility. Him an Eboue have both been left out of Arsenals squad for their pre season tour so they can sign elsewhere, both have been mentioned as makeweights should Samba head there. Bednter is a funny one, he could go either way but he does have a bit of quality about him.
RoverMad86 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Not beyond the realms of possibility. Bednter is a funny one, he could go either way but he does have a bit of quality about him. Thought it was Almunia and Bendtner who got left behind for transfer talk. Eboue has a calf injury. As for a striker at this point I would take almost anyone. Prefer Cisse. Wouldn't mind Trezeguet or Long either.
LeChuck Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Felipe Caicedo seemed to have a good season in La Liga last season. He's probably one of few Man City players that aren't on mega money, and he already knows what the Premier League is about. I honestly don't expect us to sign anyone significantly better than what we already have though. To be honest I'd tempted to sign John Carew and play the likes of Hoilett/Rochina/Formica off him.
Iceman Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 the striker from Paraguay , seems like he knows how to score goals. what is his name, Roque Santa Cruz
MeanGreenMachine Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I like the idea of the lad from Forest or Long and would have been happy with Cisse or the other Senegalese lad had the prices not been silly. Trust me, there aint a striker at forest worth having
Ripleys love child Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Does any one else think it's going to be bentdner, apparently in talks with a mystery club????
47er Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 As I said on another thread, Nugent went to Leicester on a free. If we're trawling around the bargain bins surely he'd have been a better option than Benjani? He's still only 26.
ChesterRover Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Bringing Jay Bothroyd back on a free would be a better option than Banjoni too and he's hardly a world beater!
Lurid Coat Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Does any one else think it's going to be bentdner, apparently in talks with a mystery club???? We're hardly a "mystery club", though - more like a "joke club".
RoverMad86 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 What about Landon Donovan? Played over here, experienced and can score/create goals. Not sure on fee but would be a hit with USA merchandise. Or Monaco's Park Chu-Young? Not as experienced but can score goals. Again hit with overseas merchandise. Just two names that I am putting out there. I have no sources, just two players I wouldn't mind at Rovers.
