[Archived] Manchester United's Global Ambassador

Bryan Robson you disgust me. You enjoyed a career at the very top and now you prostitute the game which made you famous.

Men like you deserve to be banned from football for life. Is it any wonder fans are walking away from the game? After watching Dispatches I'm not sure I want to return to Ewood in August.

If this was any other club it would be the main topic of discussion for every media outlet. As of yet I haven't seen it even mentioned.

If we want to get rid of such corruption in the game then Old Trafford would be a hell of a good place to start!

Agreed. But with the media engrossed with the phone hacking stuff, this is being hidden.

Robson is a disgrace for football. Doing what he is doing ' alledgedly, according to channel 4' if this is his role in being an global abbassador for Man U, well it must sum up Man U. If it is not true, then channel $ are in bother. If it is true Man u should come out and say this man is a disgrace to football and to man U.

Can you see SAF kicking out Captain Marvel?

Now this does not make it right at all but SAF is famous for defending his favorites even when they are 100% in the wrong.

It was on BBC news last night with the football club saying they wouldn't make a comment until they had seen the programme.

had to get that in, eh ?

agree with your points on captain marvel.. he's thick as...

Not sure what you mean by that.

My point is that if the game is becoming or has become as corrupt as Dispatches suggested it makes me wonder if I want to watch a game. I will be there but have to say this programme has significantly reinforced my view of the modern game and the type of people who associate with PL football. I would include our current owners, their various associates and Kentaro in this statement. I really wonder just what we have got ourselves into, and I'm not trying to use this as an opportunity to knock Venky's as there are plenty of those anyway.

I would guess Bryan Robson and his colleagues are the tip of the iceberg.

just watched it myself and it is very scary. looking at this then only half the clubs in england will survive and there will probably only be 2 leagues

i just hope to god that venky's aren't being used as a front for some low life. i can see that they were asked to front and they will get their commercial side of things done whilst not having to put a penny in. now the owner has revealed he doesnt have any money and venky's dont know what to do about it.

to be fair to robson i dont think he knew what was going on. he did say that under no circumstance would he want to see a club bought to be sold for development. he said that if they want to build a club up to the prem and then want to sell for a profit then thats fine. i think he is being conned himself as he is very niave and stupid

What I still cannot understand is the silence of the rest of the media. Dispatches has opened up a minefield, a huge story - true or false - yet nobody else takes it up. Question has to be WHY

Man U - an ex-player of theirs, a self confessed ambassador for the club - alegations made against him. Yet neither they or Robson come out with any denial etc.

What were the allegations about Robbo? And what are the Thailand based tabloid scandals BongkokRover mentions?

There were no allegations against Robson, he simply opened his mouth and the words flowed out. He made it quite clear he sees football as nothing more than an opportunity to make money, is prepared to assist and endorse multiple club ownership by one entity, recommended a "nice little deal" to maybe sell off a club's training ground to a supermarket, claimed to be able to organise player loans out of the PL into the Championship and Div 1...........to his credit he did sat he wouldn't be prepared to take action that could put a club out of business because HE had HIS reputation to protect.

Apart from the above he comes over as a really nice guy, thick as two short planks but OK otherwise.

You'll have to ask Bangkok about the other stuff but it looked to ne as though there is/was a network of very unpleasant people looking to exploit the ownership of English football clubs. Fortunately we haven't seen anything like this in Blackburn.

I was BK. I was wondering what the Thai perception of Robbo was. You hinted that he was not popular over there and I was curious why. And for that matter was Peter Reid liked in Thailand?

The Thai people have mixed feelings about Peter Reid, he did OK for the Thai national team but they are annoyed and confused why he went back to the EPL and only as Assistant Manager.

Now on to Captain Marvel, constant talking about what he and Man U achieved, not treating some Thai people with the correct respect especially the Thai press. Then of course his shocking performance as Thai manager, rather like his Boro days which he never mentioned when here in Thailand.
