Well, Barrios was enquired about as was Podolski (that info was verified through several sources, including my Goodwllie source) but I think both players will cost too much taking into account their wages. I wouldn't get your hopes up of us spending more than £10m on a striker tbh. They do want to bring someone in before the window closes, so they may settle for someone like Robbie Keane if they can't get a younger and more prolific target within the next 3 weeks.

I thought Robbie was the one that said something along the lines of "I'd rather retire than play for Kean"...

Then there was the "No player can be signed before Kalinic leaves" and "No one at Brockhall can complete a transfer" etc, I would take most things on the MB with a pinch of salt.

You mean old, slow and crap. I'd prefer Niko back.

so rovers wouldnt take defoe if there was a swap deal for samba? seems a bit ignorant on the venkys part if they were to turn their noses up at signing a 28 year old proven goalscorer.

It would all depend if they could get a good replacement for samba. I wouldn't do a straight swap have to be defoe + 5million atleast.

If the Spurs swap deal is "anyone who's surplus" I'd prefer Kranjcar and/or Bassong of the suggested players. Defoe on form is a great striker but him and Goodwillie together represents a serious lack of height, plus I reckon his ego wouldn't let him move to us. Kranjcar is a cracking creative midfielder who can play on either wing.
