BigBar Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Yeah, maybe not. Maybe KEEP Givet as he's a top option to have and will be our starting LB/CB next season. Keep Dunn as he's a local hero and all round top lad. Keep Roberts as he's been somewhat reinvigorated with Kean and I'm interested to see how he comes on this season. His efforts looked laboured under Big Sam, but he looked passionate at the end of the season... The saucy bar steward. I honestly don't think we'll find buyers for Andrews, Goulon or Diouf. At all. Let's hope Andrews does get a move sharpish. Dont forest and schteve want keef and possibly Cardiff? either way get him out, whatever bout Goulon but i reckon 1 or 2 clubs out there would take EHD...maybe keep Dunnie for the service factor but Roberts can go, seriously we have always had a striker to be proud of Shearer Sutton Gally Cole Yorke Benni Bellamy Roque to name a few and now ladies and gents.....JASON ROBERTS!!??

ada2020 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Yep, carry on selling players - first team or not - and the tea lady might get a game next season! I hope so, hear she's a fantastic centre half.
BigBar Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Yep, carry on selling players - first team or not - and the tea lady might get a game next season! Oh the vultures are circling..do ye all wait til one person decides to disagree with someone then all jump on the wagon?? Why settle for such mediority, we wer promised funds and where are they? nowhere!! Instead we have to settle for another year with a team full of nelsons and roberts!
Guest TheArtistFormallyKnownAsJB Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Givet is one of the bravest players I have ever seen. He will only get better with age in my opinion, plenty of worse french players have international honours. I also think he is deffo more of a centreback, so I can agree with you to an extent, although after the Wigan performance that saw the end of Ince, I have never rated Ste Warnock either. We took him from Liverpool reserves to the fringes of the England squad and he spat it in our faces. No love for that little scouse git. Can one of our resident journo's shed some light on the guy on twitter spouting about Honda? I'll be dreaming about millions of Japanese ladies wearing rovers shirts until someone can officially quash it.
Eddie Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Come off it...dont see the solidness or versatile, just so happens hes left footed so gets lumped out there on occassion but is by no means a solid left back! Agreed. Mediocre centreback and below average left back. Probably on undeservedly high wages. Could be easily replaced.
pick32 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Its Nelsen and he has always been solid same with Givet.
Blueboy Downunder Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Come off it...dont see the solidness or versatile, just so happens hes left footed so gets lumped out there on occassion but is by no means a solid left back! can't see the woods for the trees?? there is no defender in the world that likes pure pace running at them, no matter what level of football any of us have played. gael aint the fastest player going around but what he lacks in pace, he certainly makes up for in "versatility and solidness".....to add, givet is a good pro who puts his body on the line for the good of the team. what are you thoughts on martin olsson as a left winger/midfielder??
Speedie Dived Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Agreed. Mediocre centreback and below average left back. Probably on undeservedly high wages. Could be easily replaced. I don't think it's about the quality of the players Eddie, it's just more bodies leaving the club. Easily replaced is not in our beloved owners dictionary.
den Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 So if we sell Niko, we are left with one striker at the club. Great. Could it get any worse?
ada2020 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 So if we sell Niko, we are left with one striker at the club. Great. Could it get any worse? You dont want to be tempting fate with questions like that right now Den.
BigBar Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Oh, wow! You've done it twice! I'm pretty certain Nelsen is being groomed for a coaching/backroom role when he does hang up his boots. Getting rid of him is daft; nobody would pay anything worthwhile for him. Oh and he's an inspirational figure which, if we're planning on drafting up the youths this year, will go a very long way regarding their development. You've made a cracking start to your posting on here, though. Very insightful. And the award for knob of the forum goes to.....Nelson 33 when exactly is this coaching role gonna happen? and what? play him until then? im sure if he was sold we would be disguisted if a few years down the line we offered him a position...
den Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 You dont want to be tempting fate with questions like that right now Den. Aw what the hell. Let's sell Roberts and start again.
Speedie Dived Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 And the award for knob of the forum goes to.....Nelson 33 when exactly is this coaching role gonna happen? and what? play him until then? im sure if he was sold we would be disguisted if a few years down the line we offered him a position... Why is that such an outlandish statement to suggest Nelsen would be given a coaching role? Have you seen how old Chelsea's manager is?
BigBar Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Why is that such an outlandish statement to suggest Nelsen would be given a coaching role? Have you seen how old Chelsea's manager is? Your talking out of your hole...you said he was being "groomed" as a coach or backroom member and now your making comparisons to the Chelsea manager?? Good lad...im sure AVB will be shaking in his boots when he finds out Nelson is doing his coaching badges!
Waggy76 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 The way things are going , we going to forfeit the Wolves game , through lack of players and staff....
Speedie Dived Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Your talking out of your hole...you said he was being "groomed" as a coach or backroom member and now your making comparisons to the Chelsea manager?? Good lad...im sure AVB will be shaking in his boots when he finds out Nelson is doing his coaching badges! It was not my good self that said he was being groomed for the role. You suggested it was a crazy idea to give a 33 year old a coaching role, as if he was in nappies?
Eddie Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 So if we sell Niko, we are left with one striker at the club. Great. Could it get any worse? I would imagine that, as things stand, Hoilett will be used as a striker. Not that having two is all that much better, but at least we have one more option.
Rover & Out Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 If there was any strike-force in the Premiership deserving of being culled, it would be ours. It's always a good idea to have more than one striker in your squad though...
Backroom Tom Posted July 21, 2011 Backroom Posted July 21, 2011 I would imagine that, as things stand, Hoilett will be used as a striker. Not that having two is all that much better, but at least we have one more option. And Formica and rochina, we seem to be heading down the route of a target man with players buzzing around him.
Fraserkirky Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Roberts, Rochina and Blackman. yikes. I am not very happy about Kalinic leaving but 4.5m we go try again. Marica would be a good signing on a free, 25 year old tall Romanian International. I wonder if Kalinic is being sold to fund Honda. Please be true. Benjani is no great loss, great header against Chelsea though.
Black Burn Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Benjani is no great loss, great header against Chelsea though. He will always be a legend in my eyes for scoring a brace and utterly destroying Liverpool back then. 3-1 win over Liverpool - who would have thought we could do that?
BigBar Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 It was not my good self that said he was being groomed for the role. You suggested it was a crazy idea to give a 33 year old a coaching role, as if he was in nappies? Never did i suggest that...can you please show me where i suggested that? i suggested it was crazy to keep playing a 33 year old on the off chance (no evidence) he was being kept as a gateway to a coaching role...
EWOODACE1 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 He will always be a legend in my eyes for scoring a brace and utterly destroying Liverpool back then. 3-1 win over Liverpool - who would have thought we could do that? i dont think he is a great player but he was always more effective than roberts
