So what excuse do we have for (at the time) our only striker, Pedersen, Nelsen etc riding in flash boys cars instead of getting ready to hit the ground running with the season commencing in a weeks time?

I'll end it on this.

So he didn't have scouts out even before the window opened looking for targets? And then had the plug pulled on the money? It's not Keans fault if the money is cut off from him. And pulling a hissyfit wouldn't help at all like half of you seem to think he should do. The only way to get the money back out there is through talking with the owners and convincing them that it is worth the investment. We looked into quite a few players and properly scouted them and had contact with their clubs (according to many on here aswell as newspapers), you going to blame Kean for the owners saying no?

It makes no sense, granted he is unproven and inexperienced, but he isn't the ###### you all seem to make out. He made a few mistakes but he managed to rectify them in the same season, and if you want the club to get relegated over and over again then keep up with your 'he should grow some backbone and take a stand' sort of posts. Venky's employ him, if they are to spend money on transfers he needs to talk to them and convince them to do so, not say 'No, I'm not coming to India, now give me £20mill so I can do whatever I like'.

So, back to the transfer thread, we are now told, £3,000,000 to £6,000,000 for a striker tops, we need another midfielder and a defender to cover for the loss of Jones, how much have we left to spend?

Any idea Kamy?

Even more importantly, whhich striker could we get for £6,000,000 nowadays and would he be good enough?

Define good enough? People are clamouring for a 15-20 goal a season striker and I don't think a £6m will do it.

Also, don't know if it has been mentioned earlier in the thread, where does this £3-6m figure come from?

I think midfield would be covered with Petrovic (replacement for JJ) and Verinha. We do need a central defender, I have doubts about Hanley. Striker, difficult one but they seem to be identifying good calibre players so there is hope. Added to that we have Rochina who can play up front and Formica who can play off a striker and both of these look highly promising.

i missed someone saying about the 3-6 mill, where is it? anyone know?

I would assume it's to do with the money that was being bandied about for Raul.

Then again I hadn't heard that had fallen through so could very well be wrong.

What actually stops them training whilst in India????

Cheers. Do we know if this includes Vieirinha money? Because if it does then by the sounds of it we will have nothing left. Balaji may have to dip into his 'private transfer fund' of which we have seen no evidence of, nor do I think we will. Please prove me wrong Balaji.

Reading Kamys post above, Vieirinha is on top of the £6,000,000 tops

I think in total there is a budget of £15-£16 million. Thus far we have spent £2 million Goodwillie. Around £3 million for Petrovic, potentially £4 million Veriniha, that is £9 million. That leaves around £7 million. Maybe sign a striker for around £6 million and then use rest for a loan signing or two.

Mods, this is the transfer thread is it not. Will you delete all the rubbish about Kean, Fat Sam etc. So we don't have to trawl though all the rubbish to read the relevant.

And as I said, his reputation in the game I KNOW he would really struggle to get another job!!

As for the owners insisting he went to Pune, a good manager would say NO, I am manager of Blackburn Rovers, in case you havent noticed, we are a football club and this is the most crucial part of the season, my job is to do the best for this football club and in Pune I am not, I need the players for pre season training. If he had done that he would have commanded some respect!

I am really sorry to have to say this Kelbo...........I have the utmost respect for your undoubted football experience and in-depth knowledge of the game.

However I have to say that in your various posts (above) on the subject of Steve Kean you have absbsolutely abandoned all attempt at rationality in your very obvious dislike of Kean. This disappoints me greatly as I really believed in your opinions. I think quite a few others that have made a case for giving Kean more time have succeeded in presenting their case in a much more rational argument, and if I had bothered to join in I most certainly would be writing along the same lines.

As far as his detour to Pune with Nelsen is concerned, I agree that virtually any manager of any football club OTHER than Rovers under the present ownership would have acted along very similar lines to what you described. However as we ALL know Kean is not managing any OTHER club; he is managing BRFC under the ownership of a very rich and very powerful Hindu family who (rightly or wrongly) have been used to ALWAYS being obeyed without question. The call that Kean got to get over to Pune was just about on a par to the summons that Moses got from God to go to the top of Mount Sinai and be given the Ten Commandments......It was THAT order of command from on high.

Would YOU have disobeyed it ?

so maybe another striker and a defender on loan with a view to buying then. Onuoha on loan from City with a view to a permanent deal.

This annoys me to and seems to stem from nicko talking about our attempts to sign Ronaldinho. Since then any big name and someone on here will talk about Balaji using his "personal funds" to buy him.

Surely Balaji's funds are Rovers funds no? The new financial fair play rules certainly won't entertain the idea that a transfer is OK because it came out of one of the owner's personal bank account rather than some designated transfer pot.
