SergioPeter89 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 In the latest interview on Rovers Player, Steve Kean said that they were working hard on bringing in one more striker and a central defender. He also added POSSIBLY another midfielder. I really hope that you are right about Vieirinha, Kamy. And you are also one of the few ITK that I trust on here, but I find it hard to believe that Vieirinha is our main target after hearing what Kean said.
rogerjonesgloves Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Myles' Daddy looks after Kean and Jensen so he is still running Rovers in spirit. / That is just utter nonsense. Arsene Wenger's agent runs Arsenal does he? Pathetic.
Steve Moss Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 As far as his detour to Pune with Nelsen is concerned, I agree that virtually any manager of any football club OTHER than Rovers under the present ownership would have acted along very similar lines to what you described. However as we ALL know Kean is not managing any OTHER club; he is managing BRFC under the ownership of a very rich and very powerful Hindu family who (rightly or wrongly) have been used to ALWAYS being obeyed without question. The call that Kean got to get over to Pune was just about on a par to the summons that Moses got from God to go to the top of Mount Sinai and be given the Ten Commandments......It was THAT order of command from on high. Would YOU have disobeyed it ? I think Kelbo would have. I think any manager with spine would have. Which is why we have Kean.
donnermeat Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I think Kelbo would have. I think any manager with spine would have. Which is why we have Kean. See messrs Allardyce, Hughes
rickard Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Myles' Daddy looks after Kean and Jensen so he is still running Rovers in spirit. Interesting BBC piece on free transfers. Former Rovers Robbie Savage and Simon Barker interviewed. Marcus Bent available on a free transfer! Let's bring him back! Just kidding.
rhodie Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I think Kelbo would have. I think any manager with spine would have. Which is why we have Kean. And also why we don`t have BFS anymore.
Fife Rover Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 even "wealthy and influential" would have been over egging the pudding a bit. I know what you are getting at, and mostly agree without actually disecting both our arguments. Perhaps my post did not make it clear that how WE all see the new owners and how THEY see themselves are two completely different and irreconcilable worlds. The Desais and the Raos come from a culture and a personal background that (unles you have lived in India) you have almost no chance of ever being able to fully understand. (I get this information from my own paternal grandparents based on the long and varied experiences of my grandfather who was a career officer in the Indian Army for many years). In India these very powerful families are NEVER questioned when they give an order. I will leave it at that because this the Tranfer Chat thread. So back on topic: I honestly believe that this coming season will see the laying of new foundations at BRFC and there will be a decent performance all round with Rovers achieving a mi-table finish. This will just be the start though for the rebuilding will continue at each window and the following season I expect to see us moving ito the top half. Cannot say any more that that from where we are now; but that is how I see things developing.
Mercer Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I think Kelbo would have. I think any manager with spine would have. Which is why we have Kean. Spot on. Could you imagine Kenny or Fergie jumping to attention like that !?!? At least we seem to be threatening to sign a couple of players now. Hallelujh !!!

Vierinha is being actively negotiated at the moment. Player that Kean wants. With Venky's have learnt that they will negotiate to a certain point but then walkaway if no headway is made. But this one looks hopeful, also Andy Cryer reports on LT website that his sources tell him that a fee has been agreed so a formal offer will follow, throughout Simmer Andy has been right about most things.
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I think in total there is a budget of £15-£16 million. Thus far we have spent £2 million Goodwillie. Around £3 million for Petrovic, potentially £4 million Veriniha, that is £9 million. That leaves around £7 million. Maybe sign a striker for around £6 million and then use rest for a loan signing or two. Clearly my maths must be @#/? but I'm sure we offloaded P Jones for £16 mil plus - and Kalinic is on his way for another £6 million. That's £22 million before the supposed £5million per window. We were promised all funds from sales would be reinvested. I also can't imagione that Petrovic, Goodwillie and Vierinha will be on huge wages. The striker signing is THE most important one of this window. Can't see £6 million getting us a good un.

Would be no surprise at all should this not happen. Kamy reckons the budget is £15 to £16m which means sizeable 'disinvestment'.
imy9 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 See messrs Allardyce, Hughes The same Hughes at City?
mrtomkiss Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Maybe venkys are investing the rest of the kalinic money into the next transfer window

We had £27m, then the bank took advantage of the utter lack of leadership at Rovers to recall our £18m overdraft and claim the Jones money for themselves. We now have about £10m total - £2m for Goodwillie, £3m for Petrovic, probably £4m for Vierinha, there's not much left. A "name" striker out of Balaji's own pocket is about all we can hope for.
RoversNCarolina Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Borussia Monchengladbach has said that U.S. International Michael Bradley is not part of their plans this year and that he is looking for a new club. I don't know what the transfer fee would be, but maybe a loan could be worked out.
Taggart Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Clearly my maths must be @#/? but I'm sure we offloaded P Jones for £16 mil plus - and Kalinic is on his way for another £6 million. I`m sur eI will eb the first of many, but the Phil Jones money isn`t all available at once WWWM, and that applies for th eKalinic money, so it doesn`t mean that we have 22 million to spend at the moment if thta makes it any clearer, cheers
LeChuck Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 there's not much left. A "name" striker out of Balaji's own pocket is about all we can hope for. Wording it like "out of Balaji's own pocket" makes it sound like the idea of owners investing money into their club is far fetched. We should expect Venky's to put their money into transfers! Virtually every other club in the PL has owners that do.

I also understand that the bank took a chunk of money due to mismanagement or whatever you want to call it. As a fan though, the last bit is irrelevant to me. If Balaji has x amount of millions set aside for a big signing, surely he can afford to wipe the overdraft - Something that would be more beneficial to the stability of the club and still give us a big kitty for a striker. Don't get me wrong, I'd be reasonably happy with our business if we end up with Goodwillie, Petrovic, Vierhina and a decent striker...but it woudn't score Venkys any bonus points in my book - just another broken promise.

Billy Castell Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Then Barry White should do a Citeh. 'Invest' money into Venky's, who then sponsor the stadium for a similar fee. Or something like that.
