Fylde Coast Fan Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Blackburn-signing-free-agent-Brazilian-full-back-Bruno-Ribeiro-after-injury-top-target-Nathaniel-Clyne-Crystal-Palace-article781646.html Kean also watched Robbie Keane playing for NYC against Man Utd today. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2023002/Spurs-boss-Harry-Redknapp-watches-Giuseppe-Rossi.html Or Kean was just there keeping an eye on Salgado and enjoying a testimonial. Doesn't seem like the kind of game where you'll learn much about a transfer target.
Give 'Em the Axe Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 If it's true, that's a real sickener about young Clyne. Can't lie and say I've seen the lad play. But getting in a young, potential England player to learn from and act as understudy to the great Salgado would have been quite a coup. Let's wait and see how Ribeiro pans out.
goodwillie_style Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Mirror also state that 'arry wants £20m for crouch and palacios. Spurs always after mega money for their players. what planet does harry live on cause it surely ain't the same as everyone else, he wants to over price his players but expects to get players on the cheap
T.J.Newton Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 cant see riberio being anything other than an adequate back up for the odd game.
goodwillie_style Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 thought spurs were skint and had to sell before buy, they being linked with 28 mill bid for rossi and trying to get samba, thought it was widely reported by the people in "the know" on here that they were having problems with banks as well hmmm
Majiball Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 That's one thing that we can't be accused of really. He was here for a trial last summer (when Allardyce was around) and played a few games. I remember some of us thought 'Myles Anderson' was a pseudonym for a trialist. Am I right in thinking it was Kean who suggested the trial to Allardyce though? I wonder who gave the recommendation to Kean in the first place? Kind of makes sense why Kentaro pushed Kean for the job now, doesn't it? Wouldn't surprise me one little bit to know SEM are still working behind the scenes. Agents know agents and so on and money is easily passed hands. I am really sorry to have to say this Kelbo...........I have the utmost respect for your undoubted football experience and in-depth knowledge of the game. However I have to say that in your various posts (above) on the subject of Steve Kean you have absbsolutely abandoned all attempt at rationality in your very obvious dislike of Kean. This disappoints me greatly as I really believed in your opinions. I think quite a few others that have made a case for giving Kean more time have succeeded in presenting their case in a much more rational argument, and if I had bothered to join in I most certainly would be writing along the same lines. As far as his detour to Pune with Nelsen is concerned, I agree that virtually any manager of any football club OTHER than Rovers under the present ownership would have acted along very similar lines to what you described. However as we ALL know Kean is not managing any OTHER club; he is managing BRFC under the ownership of a very rich and very powerful Hindu family who (rightly or wrongly) have been used to ALWAYS being obeyed without question. The call that Kean got to get over to Pune was just about on a par to the summons that Moses got from God to go to the top of Mount Sinai and be given the Ten Commandments......It was THAT order of command from on high. Would YOU have disobeyed it ? Yes without doubt, only one thing matters at a football club and that's what happens on the pitch. Everything should be geared towards ensuring this and it obviously isn't at Rovers. Instead lets all indulge the demands of some spoilt little children who appear to have god complexes. Would people be happy with this?? Scenario - we sign Goodwillie, Petrovic, Veriniha, Striker, Ribierio and a loan player....& sell Diouf, Kalinic and shift out Andrews on loan - but no longer have any bank debt.....will people be happy with that? No, the whole point of the sale and the promises made at the time was to clear our debt and allow the club to move forward. It hasn't.
SuperCat Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Mirror also state that 'arry wants £20m for crouch and palacios. Spurs always after mega money for their players. Quality players though.
Rover & Out Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 The Riberio signing annoys me somewhat. I've not seen him play so he could be decent but I was looking forward to us slowly clearly out the deadwood in our squad. Hopefully it's a short-term deal as 1) Emerton is an adequate back-up and 2) I'd love to see Henley or Ramm be given a chance this season.
Neal Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Has anyone noticed that Diouf hasn't been given a squad number yet? Thought he would've been long gone by now. To add to that Rochina and Hoilett are listed as strikers. Wonder if that gives some sort of clue as to where they will play next season? http://www.rovers.co.uk/page/TeamHome/0,,10303,00.html
roverandout Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 been out all day, came on here expecting some kind of movement, and not just from my bowels, and it feels like time has stood still, what the hell is going on, a week to the new season and one piddly mediocre signing so far.

There's a thread for negativity now mate

I think I would still rather sign Clyne knowing he is out for a while instead of bringing in Ribiero!
Ripleys love child Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 i know ripleys, posted on it, it aint pretty Eh?
roverandout Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 i mean what i wrote, you have already read it by now so you know.
roverandout Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 can someone recap for me, are the raul and milito deals/chase off? if so why? and if not how far down the line are they?
Neal Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 So it appears Ribeiro has signed? Jason Roberts has posted a pic of him on twitter being made to sing to the rest of the squad! Funny. Samba has tweeted something similar.
Veevs Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Anyone know what happened with Mongongu.. didn't we reapply for a work permit? I presume it must of failed, just seems odd we apparently not looking at more central defensive cover. Personally reckon we will need it as we are basically down to Samba, Givet, Nelson and some kids.
FourLaneBlue Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Has anyone noticed that Diouf hasn't been given a squad number yet? Thought he would've been long gone by now. Exactly the kind of squad player we need. We need to make up with him. Or what's the alternative? He doesn't play while we pay him a fortune?
Taggart Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Exactly the kind of squad player we need. We need to make up with him. Or what's the alternative? He doesn't play while we pay him a fortune? release him from his contract and send him packing - can do a job, but would rather it was elsewhere or for some form of charity work. The guys personality and traits when in competitive situations make my skin crawl from time to time - and off the field he seems to not be able to control himself either - bad role model and not good for the brand IMO - dead wood to Rovers Has anyone noticed that Diouf hasn't been given a squad number yet? Thought he would've been long gone by now. To add to that Rochina and Hoilett are listed as strikers. Wonder if that gives some sort of clue as to where they will play next season http://www.rovers.co...,,10303,00.html Yes, and also noticed we had signed 2 No.10`s in the Formica Twins
Ricky Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 I'm also a little worried about Formica being a bit lightweight, 0kg seems awfully light for a premier league striker!!
AJW Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Clyne's only going to be injured for 6 weeks it said after that we have an england under 20 international r/b playing & training with 1 of the most decorated r/b's of all time seems a silly move to me to get Ribeiro

We don't sign players they moan. We sign a good, young player with potential they moan. Que sera.
