magicalmortensleftpeg Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Some seem to think Kean and Venky's are OK so why not Benzema? Grow up. Not going to get excited about this yet. If its not a £15m player then it wont be anyone earth shattering but it does sound promising never the less. If we can get this Vierinha guy in as well then I think we'll have more options up front then we've had in a very long time. A centre back needs to be bought fast though.

donnermeat Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 A centre back needs to be bought fast though. Someone needs to make a (monetary) 'contribution' to whoever issues French passports.
Kelbo Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I must say I am in agreement with Hemel Rover, a good old fashioned English style centre forward over the foreign prima donnas any day, unfortunately they seem to be a very rare breed nowadays or is it that modern coaching favours a different style of striker? There are a few in the Championship but I dont think they could make the step up to Premiership standards, for me and knowing what he offers to the team, Bellamy is a decent shout but he wants to go back to Cardiff, Peter crouch has so much to his game, quick feet for a big lad, danger in the air and links play well but he will cost some money but he is a proven prem player and would give us something different to what we already have.
goodwillie_style Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Some seem to think Kean and Venky's are OK so why not Benzema? didn't expect anything different from you, your starting to become a bit predictable now, but I agree with everyone, if you think Benzema you all need to wake up from your dream, José Salomón Rondón seams the more likeable option with his age and they way venkys seam to be going down that route with all there signings, it might even be a name none of has even mentioned , I rather not know if it means it gives us more of a chance of seeing him in a rovers shirt, lets just sit back and enjoy the ride ,but if we go into the season with the squad we have no matter what people think I will be still be there come 3pm on Saturday cheering on the boys to hopefully victory, COYB
roversfanben Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Rather than guessing every striker in Europe, why not just be patient and wait to see what happens? You knowing who the striker is won't change anything, so let's just see who we end up with by September 1st.

I think some of the suggestions are way off. If there is a signing it will be a lot less than that
Athlete Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Negative stuff? Nicko was saying that we were going to have a substantial war chest going off the lists drawn up by Kentaro at the beginning of summer. Many people used to enjoy his input, a shame that he was forced off the board. Along with a small number of people asking Kamy not to reveal names until bids are accepted, we would know the name of the striker by now but for some strange reason a small few stamp there feet when a reported target does not sign. Kamy and Nicko's input has been first class over the years. Nicko and Kamy gave us proper in put and news , why people got the hump when people didnt sign is beyond me Nicko/Kamy can't make them sign on the dotted line FFS

If there is a signing it will be a lot less than that are you his agent how do you know he will cost 18 million, didnt arsenal just sign gervinho for 10.5 mill so anything is possible, sometimes transfers depend on add on's, a deal could be arranged ,who knows what venkys have up there sleeve, they haven't really been the most predictable owners we have ever had

You cannot get any players on the cheap from Malaga now, stinking rich
roversfanben Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 People close to Malaga have let it be known the value they have for him. You cannot get any players on the cheap from Malaga now, stinking rich Which is why I think the Rondon rumour is BS. They are the Man City of Spain, if they want to sell a player, they will only do so for top dollar.

Torgeir Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Minimum fee release clauses are mandatory in Spain. Considering he joined from Las Palmas a year ago I wouldn't say £18m is unrealistic. If he signs an extension then that number will without a doubt be a lot higher.
Speedie Dived Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Well Kean has staked his rep on 3 players being in before the first game. Goodwillie is done, Petrovic should get work permit this week (high hopes for him) so we should be seeing some movement this week. It might however not be a striker, it appears that the Portuguese winger is furthest down the track.

I said I was bored and it was only to google some leagues, squads and players to have some fun.
LeftWinger Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I thought he said three before the end of the window. You may be right but that's what I saw. "From other clubs, we can’t mention names as these players belong to other clubs but we shall sign at least three players before the season begins. We have some good targets and if we acquire them, then a top 10 place is a very realistic aim for this season." It was at least three - before the season begins.
Speedie Dived Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I thought he said three before the end of the window. You may be right but that's what I saw. No it was before the season starts. In the same interview that was bigging up our academy and stating it was difficult to sign good players as it becomes complicated as they opposing club tries to resist the deals, warped logic but not the issue.
Hughesy Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 It was at least three - before the season begins. Ribiero, Petrovic & Vierinha Or is Ribiero/ Petrovic classed as already done in Keans eyes?
Hekla Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 We've signed Goodwillie, so that's Goodwillie, Petrovic, Vierinha, Ribeiro. It will be more quite obviously.
slough_rover Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Goodwillie, Ribeiro and Myles. Theres your three signings for the new season....Eeek!
Exiled_Rover Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 That West Ham side would give us a run for our money. Good god we need investment!
chocky Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 That West Ham side would give us a run for our money. Good god we need investment! That West Ham side was relegated....
rogerjonesgloves Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 That West Ham side was relegated.... But they didn't have SA then...........
