Hekla Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 West Ham's midfield is strong, but their defence is weak, goalie is inconsistent and their strikers can't finish. Did love The Big Sam's comments on Twitter straight after the game. Whoever does that is hilarious. Meanwhile De Gea doesn't look fit to Edwin's boots. Lol. De Gea's first proper match. Edwin was an experienced keeper. The defence was at fault for the first and the Dzeko strike was brilliant.

LeChuck Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Somebody on the other thread said this West Ham team would finish ahead of us and Bolton I hadn't read that. Surely dubdubdub's comment was in reference to the 'run for our money' comment here, or it would have been in whatever thread that comment was made. At the risk of opening a can of worms... Under Kean last year, our points per game is pretty similar to West Ham's. It's pretty fair to say there was little difference between the two teams if you just include Kean's tenure. Since then we've lost P Jones, J Jones, Roque and Diouf, and only signed Goodwillie. West Ham have a much better manager now than they did last season too. If we sign Petrovic, Vieirinha and a good striker then I'm confident we'll have a good season. But there is no need to ridicule people making comments about West Ham's strength in relation to ours because everything points to it being a logical argument.
Hekla Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Why are bothered about West Ham all of a sudden? They are nothing to do with us. If they had a good team they would be in the Premier League.
Balwer Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Lol. De Gea's first proper match. Edwin was an experienced keeper. The defence was at fault for the first and the Dzeko strike was brilliant. You make it sound like it's his first competitive match ever. I said looks like, didn't say is. Jamie Redknapp makes an interesting point about most goals conceded outside the box. Strike was good but at that distance you can at least get a hand to it.
Hekla Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 First United game for 20 year old in a derby match, I think the guy will be a fabulous goalkeeper in time.
Balwer Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 First United game for 20 year old in a derby match, I think the guy will be a fabulous goalkeeper in time. As do I, in time. My point was that there will likely be an adjustment period of a couple of years and that consequently there will be a drop off in United's keeping from last year during that period. Joe Hart is the rare goalie who can play at this level at such a young age.
Speedie Dived Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 First United game for 20 year old in a derby match, I think the guy will be a fabulous goalkeeper in time. It's a bad bad start for the young goaler. You don't get many chances at United as well. Interestingly many Spanish pundits were saying long range shots were his main weakness. Sad sad time now, Jones coming on. I have managed to avoid him in that rank shirt up to this point.

Nelsta Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Nicko on twitter sayoing there's some controversial Rovers news. Not said what it is yet though.
Gav Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I spoke to Zac yesterday and he said its currently very quiet on the transfer front, no new names, but he did say we're still looking at a deal to bring Raul in, this has been dismissed in other quarters though. He also mentioned a midfield player, but we've been quote 6m and thats scared us off, don't know his name though.
Gumbi Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Nicko on twitter sayoing there's some controversial Rovers news. Not said what it is yet though. Maybe it's to do with us not getting a sponsor and going with a charity instead. The controversial bit would be that it's a charity set up by Prince Charles who is a Burnley fan.

Mullionvagrant Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Its nothing to do with strip or sponsor he has just twittered me back saying its not. David Bentley!?!!!!
rogerjonesgloves Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Something to do with Samba i suspect, or Steve Keans a gonner? Controversial is not a word you would normally associate with a transfer, sensational, dramatic, shocking maybe.
rovgers Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Controversial is not a word you would normally associate with a transfer, sensational, dramatic, shocking maybe. What if the transfer involved Joey Barton signing for us? That would be controversial to most Rovers fans!
unsall Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Controversial is not a word you would normally associate with a transfer, sensational, dramatic, shocking maybe. Unless it's someone like Barton!!!!!

rogerjonesgloves Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 What if the transfer involved Joey Barton signing for us? That would be controversial to most Rovers fans! Fair point,or Rovers make multi-million bid for Brian Jensen.

rogerjonesgloves Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 He said it's nothing to do with a transfer. I think it's Kean and his court case Strange on a Sunday, courts closed etc. But could be.
wozaup Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 TWEETED: @wozaup Barton to Rovers? Alan Nixon Not in this lifetime. Agent_ITK @ @wozaup Samba to Spurs. Possibly Hutton or Jenas in as part of the deal.
Speedie Dived Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Strange on a Sunday, courts closed etc. But could be. I think it might be connected to the sacking, if guilty rumour.
Kamy100 Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Nicko's story has nothing to do with transfers or sponsors, it is to do with the club. It'll be on the mirror website shortly after 11pm and I suspect that the negativity thread will have some pages added to it over the coming day or so. Now back to transfers on here.
